I stepped over the burning corpses as Amber still stayed attached to my back, my fiery lover seemingly content to float along while hugging from behind.
It felt like I had a fire fairy following alongside . Scratch that, a fire goddess, more like.
"Are you sure we're going in the right direction?" I asked, shooting the newest pirate that showed up with the dual shotgun attached to my right arm.
Amber tapped on her cheek, "Hmm… Let check…"
She reached out her hand and one of the pirates that had been hiding behind a collapsed wall levitated up into the air. He had his arms locked to his side and his gun was wrenched out of his hand to drop on the floor, rendering him completely defenceless.
He tried to wiggle out of her telekinetic grasp but he obviously could not shake free from Amber's grasp as she brought him closer to her.
"Where do you guys store your loot and valuables?" She asked casually.
The guy blinked a few tis at her as though he was having difficulty understanding her question.
Then his brows furrowed before spitting at Amber, "Do you think I'll tell you, you bitch?!"
Amber waved her other hand and the spit flew off to the side without hitting either of us.
She seed to be concentrating for a mont before she nodded at , "I got it. Just head straight down this path and we should see it."
The pirate's eyes widened, most likely realising that Amber had read his mind.
He opened his mouth to say sothing but Amber flicked her hand and the guy was sent flying straight towards the wall, smashing straight into it with his neck breaking with a loud snap.
Neither of us even looked in that guy's direction as we continued on our way towards the pirate's vault.
A few pirates tried to ambush us by hiding in the buildings along the way but they were all crushed by overwhelming power.
The newest group jumped down towards us from the roof but I already knew they were there thanks to Ries's drones doing an aerial scan over the area.
I imdiately swivelled my shotgun arm to point upwards and blasted the first pirate away, the pellets blowing a hole in his chest and abdon and sending his intestines flying out behind him.
Amber pointed her palm at the other side and shot a gout of flas that burned the two pirates in the air into crisp.
I then took the opportunity to turn my mortar to point in the direction of another building, taking a mont to check that it was the sa building a pirate was laying on top of through Ries's drone footage.
Before I could fire however, the pirate's head suddenly exploded and he slumped down, dead.
It took a mont to realise that Lea must have sniped the guy from outside the base.
As expected of our sniper~
"Boss? Seems like they already reported your presence. They have a roadblock set up right ahead," Ries reported through the comms.
The screen with her drone footage shifted to show the path ahead of us which ended around a bend to turn towards the right.
Right around that bend were several improvised barricades made of several scrap tal and trash with the pirates hiding behind the very last wall.
They think they can actually stop us with this… How cute.
We didn't even bother with any tricks and I simply walked straight up to the bend with Amber still floating behind .
The mont I turned, I heard several tallic pings go off and I realised they had set up explosives here as a trap.
The walls weren't there to prevent from reaching them but were there to protect those guys from the explosion.
"Amb--"
I didn't have ti to finish my words before an explosion ripped through the buildings around us, fully engulfing us in a giant fireball.
I didn't hesitate and spun to grab Amber, pulling her into my embrace as I covered her with my body to try and shield her from the flas.
But… Even after holding that position for a while, I did not feel any fire burning . Was the fire not reaching us at all?
I looked up and sure enough, the fire was kept at a distance away from us, leaving a circle of space that was completely untouched by the explosion.
When I turned back to Amber though, I realised she was looking at with bedroom eyes.
Err… Why is she looking at like that?
Oh, her hands were reaching out to the sides so I assud she was controlling the fire and preventing it from reaching us.
"My hero~" She whispered, right before she lifted up her arm to shift all the fire upwards to form into a giant fireball.
The pirates hiding behind the last barricade were gaping up at the fireball, none of them even bothering to shoot at us.
"That's… Really a Psionic?"
"I thought… The report was just exaggerating…"
"Why is there a Noble here?!"
"We're dead… We're so dead…"
"Hurry! We need to warn boss! Tell him--"
Amber threw the fireball at the group, blasting the entire group to bits with the explosion they had tried to kill us with.
I straightened myself but Amber was still hanging onto while still giving the sa bedroom eyes look.
"Ahem… Amber?" I called out to her.
"Hmm?" She muttered, still looking out of sorts.
"Ermm… It's going to be hard to walk like this…"
"Hmm…"
"Amber?"
She started giggling for so reason, "Ehehehe~ I think I fell even more in love with you again, Tera~"
Where did that co from? But well…
"I love you too, Amber. And if I wasn't wearing the helt, I would be kissing you right now."
"Ehehehe~ We'll have lots of kisses after we're done then~"
She finally let go of and floated to my back once again, though this ti she was hugging my neck with her head resting on top of my helt.
If only I wasn't wearing this power armour… I could just snuggle with her right now…
Wait, we're in the middle of massacring a bunch of pirates, why am I acting like I'm on a date right now?
Oops, a bunch of pirates just ca from the side.
I should just--
Amber didn't even bother using fire this ti and rely tossed them away with her telekinesis with a wave of her hand, smashing the entire group into the wall and holding them there.
Since they weren't dead, I figured that she wanted to finish them off so I raised my shotgun and blasted them with a shot each.
"Hmm~ Hmm~ The place should be just right ahead, Tera~" Amber inford , my lover in a suspiciously good mood for so reason.
I looked up and there was certainly a building that was larger than the others in size.
And unlike most of the other buildings, this one looked to be more sturdily built than the others and it even had a solid looking door on it.
Additionally, there were four automated turrets outside the building and even more guards already hunkered down outside of said building.
I'm guessing they either already knew we were coming here or they just had a protocol to defend this place if they were attacked.
"Mara, we're at their vault," I reported through the comms. "How are things on your end?"
"Hmm? Oh, I'm tearing down their leader's door at the mont."
I shifted my focus to her screen and sure enough, she was waving her hands and practically ripping off the armoured doors in front of her off their hinges.
In the background, I could hear a certain voice screaming at her asking what did she want from him and what did he do to deserve this.
I almost felt sad for him. Almost.
"We're raiding their vault right now, so I think we might even get both done at the sa ti," I mused.
Amber giggled, "Ehehe~ Then once Mara is done on her end as well, I can just set the whole place on fire and burn it down?"
I nodded, "That's the plan."
Right as I was about to tell them to comnce the attack however, Ries's voice ca from the comms again.
"Boss? You… Err… You might want to see this…"
I directed my gaze towards the screen of the drone's cara and I realised Ries had moved it to show the outside of the pirate base.
A short distance away from us and currently in the midst of stomping its way towards us was a Spider Tank.
It lifted one of its legs and stomped down on the slum buildings underneath it, crushing whatever was in its path indiscriminately.
The main turret swivelled to point towards the pirate base and fired, the shell flying over the buildings to land sowhere in the pirate base and exploding.
Why the hell is there another party attacking this place right now?!!
