"Girls?" I called out after seeing the tank.
"I see it, Captain," Mara answered right before going back to ripping off the armoured doors in front of her.
"How about we destroy the tank?" I suggested.
Amber turned to , "That's a good idea. Mara and I will finish up the pirate base here. You can destroy the tank, Tera."
"I thought you would be volunteering to destroy the tank instead, Amber…"
"Oh! I can do that too!"
Ries imdiately cut in, "Not a good idea Boss… That Spider Tank is a remote control variant… That ans there's surveillance equipnt on it… They will definitely see Amber using her Psionic powers if you do that."
Well shit… So that ans we either just grab whatever we can and run, risking Amber and Mara's presence getting leaked by the surviving pirates…
Or, I have to fight the tank by myself since I'm the only one who is capable of facing it right now and let the girls finish the job with the pirates.
The answer was obvious as I turned around to face the direction of the tank.
"I'll go, you two deal with this base. Make sure no one remains."
"Leave it to , Tera!" Amber chirped, having no doubts that I could face a tank on my own.
Honestly, I had no doubts that I could fight a tank on my own in this power armour especially since I've already done this before with the escort for Deviminio.
The only problem was that my armants weren't ant for dealing with armoured targets so that might be a problem for .
I guess the most effective weapon I have to deal with the tank's armour was my Wave Blades.
That ans… I would need to get close to the tank to deal with it.
I left Amber and started running towards the gate in sprint mode.
Another explosion rang out from sowhere within the base, most likely from another shot from the tank.
There's a few pirates who showed up along the way but I simply shot them all down with either my shotgun or the minigun.
Before I got too far, another explosion wrecked through the base from the side, blowing a hole in the wall.
Oh, nice. I can just jump through that hole instead of running all the way to the main gate.
I altered my path and leapt through that hole, just in ti to see Ries's drone move to train its guns at the new hole that was made.
Seems like she still has the periter secured but with the number of drones she had, I doubt she would be able to cover the periter as well if there were more holes created.
I'll have to take down the tank as fast as I can then…
Still in sprint mode, I started running towards the tank from the flank hoping that I was out of sight from the tank.
Unfortunately, it seems like that was not to be as the spider tank turned its turret in my direction while its legs raised it even higher so that it had a clear line of fire at .
What the heck?! It can lift itself up to give itself a higher shooting platform?! That is so unfair!!
I was hoping to use the buildings as cover but it was already higher than the buildings so I don't even have any cover!
Wait… Can I…
I watched as a flash of light appeared from the tank's barrel and I quickly jumped into the air while spinning myself around to fire my mortar directly at the ground.
The explosion sent flying back right before the tank shell exploded against the ground where I had been, the shockwave sending flying even further away.
I twisted my body back around and tucked my body before I hit the ground, using the montum to roll several feet before I jumped up onto my feet.
I took that chance to load in a smoke mortar and fired a mortar at the area in front of , the round exploding to throw up a cloud of smoke.
Out of the corner of my eye, I saw the tank turret still tracking as I ran into the cloud.
Instead of continuing forward, I skidded to a stop and turned to start running at the side instead.
An explosion ripped through the space where I would have been had I continued running.
I squeezed through the alley between two buildings while the smoke still covered my tracks.
When I erged from the smoke, I found the tank still aiming in my direction.
Damn… I was hoping that the tank might think it managed to kill and just go back to shooting at the pirate base instead.
At this point, I already had another smoke mortar shell loaded so I fired that as well, this ti in front of the tank to block its view completely.
While the smoke was obscuring its vision, I ran towards the side again to try and get out of its firing arc.
I had been just a second too late, however, as the explosion behind threw off my feet and I ended up getting sent flying forward to crash into the ground.
The good news was that the smoke was still obscuring the tank's vision of so it shouldn't be able to shoot at yet.
I quickly climbed up onto my feet and fired another smoke mortar at the tank right as it began to move forward to get out of the smoke, the mortar round exploding on top of it and creating another smoke cloud.
I took that chance to get even closer to it while the tank fired a blind shot in my direction, the shell ending up flying straight over my head and exploding sowhere behind .
I instinctively duck my head and my eyes went to my ammo counter, seeing that I only had three more smoke mortars left.
There was still quite a bit of distance between us and I doubt these three smoke mortars would be enough for to cover the remaining distance between the tank and myself if I just get a little closer.
Deciding to take a risk, I decided to fire a high explosive shell instead.
The round landed right on top of the tank, exploding against the top of the tank.
I was hoping that the top armour might be thin enough that the high explosive shell might be effective against it.
But aside from the tank shaking from the impact, the explosion doesn't seem to have done anything to it.
Looks like I really need to get up close to it…
I dashed through the streets, only to pause when I saw movent from the side.
I thought it might be an enemy or sothing flanking from the side so I got ready to shoot at them, only to realise it was just a scruffy looking man dragging along a boy who was hobbling along behind him.
Down the road, there were even more people whom I assud were the slum dwellers trying to escape from the warzone that was happening right outside of their hos.
Right as I realised that fact, the next shell that the tank fired exploded in the middle of the fleeing group, blowing up several of them and sending body parts and blood flying in every direction.
Shit!
I totally forgot that this was still a civilian area!
Shit, shit, shit… Whoever was controlling that tank completely doesn't care that they might be killing civilians…
I suppose the fact that it was stomping through the slums already showed that they didn't care…
There's still this row of buildings blocking from running directly towards the tank…

I jumped up into the air while firing my mortar behind , using the recoil of the blast to send flying over the roofs of the slum buildings.
I didn't manage to clear the entire thing so I ended up crashing into one of the buildings, taking the roof with which set off a chain reaction of the walls collapsing inwards and the building collapsing down into a pile.
Thankfully, the house was already empty so I didn't accidentally kill soone that had been inside that building.
The smoke cleared from the top of the tank and it swivelled around trying to look for , spotting relatively quickly.
I prepared to fire another smoke round at the tank but it fired at before I could.
The world around seed to slow and I could see the explosive shell heading right towards .
My body reacted faster than I could think and I found myself jumping up into the air again.
The explosive shell flew under as I jumped over it, right as it hit the ground and exploded a re tre away from .
My world spun as the explosion catapulted through the air, sending crashing straight into another slum building.
I felt pain explode through my body and my vision went black.
