When Sheng Jianan and Tang Yanqi arrived at the hospital, Mr. Sheng had just finished his evening check-up and was about to lie down. Seeing Sheng Jianan and Tang Yanqi co in, a smile appeared on the old man’s face.
"Yanqi, it’s been quite a few days since you last visited ."
Tang Yanqi walked sweetly to Mr. Sheng’s side and sat down, smiling, "Grandpa, I’m sorry."
Mr. Sheng laughed twice and waved his hand, "You kid, I was just saying. You took it seriously."
Sheng Jianan, arms crossed, leaned against the wall, his gaze fixed on Tang Yanqi. When facing Grandpa, this woman always had such a sweet deanor.
In the past, Sheng Jianan always thought it was fake. He had seen how infuriating this woman could be, so he always felt her sweetness in front of Grandpa was an act.
But now, the more he looked, the more pleasing she seed. Sheng Jianan lowered his gaze, drumming his fingers on his arm, his arrogant brows hinting a touch of amusent.
Sheng Jianan didn’t know when he began wanting to be close to this woman, but he already clearly felt a strange happiness in his heart whenever Tang Yanqi appeared within his view.
What bewildered Sheng Jianan even more was that their usually unreadable emotions in front of Tang Yanqi even he couldn’t fathom.
Clearly, he just wanted to spend more ti with her, yet he wasn’t straightforward about it—making up excuses to have als together or visit Grandpa at the hospital.
Sheng Jianan curled his lips; this was a feeling he hadn’t experienced in over twenty years. Sheng Jianan felt he was almost not himself anymore, yet he inexplicably didn’t mind it.
Mr. Sheng needed rest, and Tang Yanqi still had to be cautious with her health. Sheng Jianan didn’t stay long at the hospital and planned to take Tang Yanqi back to the villa.
As they walked out of the hospital, Tang Yanqi followed Sheng Jianan to the car, lightly pressing her lips together before speaking, "Mr. Sheng, can I stay at school tonight?"
Sheng Jianan already turned around as soon as she finished speaking, his brows furrowed. Tang Yanqi quickly added, "Tomorrow’s class is early; it’s more convenient to stay on campus. We’ve already visited Mr. Sheng today, so even if I don’t go back, he won’t suspect anything."
Recently, she returned to the villa every day because Mrs. Zhang was there. To put it bluntly, it was all for Mr. Sheng’s sake. But since they had already visited today, Tang Yanqi didn’t think Mr. Sheng would suspect anything, so she saw no problem with her suggestion.
Yet Sheng Jianan frowned at her words, with a hint of displeasure flashing in his eyes. He had gone to such lengths to spend more ti with her—supervising her thesis, having als with her roommates, coming to the hospital at night to visit Grandpa—only to have her seem like she didn’t want to spend ti with him at all.
As soon as they left, she dropped such a line. Sheng Jianan’s expression darkened a bit, and habitually, he wanted to retort with sarcasm, but looking at Tang Yanqi’s thin figure in the night, Sheng Jianan swallowed his words.
"Do you have sothing to take care of back there?"
Though he didn’t retort, his tone was still less than pleasant. Tang Yanqi was always sensitive; how could she not hear Sheng Jianan’s displeasure? She sighed, not knowing why he was upset, but said anyway, "It’s nothing; it’s just convenient for class. If Mr. Sheng thinks it’s inappropriate, I’ll just go back."
