Mu Ke was back from surgery already by noon. He first went to his office to change clothes before coming to the ward. Jiayu was already dressed up, standing by the window looking at the scenery outside.
Hearing the movent behind her, Jiayu turned around, smiling: "Finished?"
Mu Ke nodded: "Is there anywhere you’re still feeling uncomfortable?"
"No, I’m fine."
After a pause, Jiayu spoke again: "I just called my mom, she said that you called her last night. My mom said she wants us to go back for dinner tonight."
Mu Ke looked at Jiayu, a trace of peculiarity flashed in his cold eyes. From the mont he walked in, he noticed Jiayu’s complexion wasn’t quite right. Could it be because of Xu Qingru’s invitation?
Mu Ke was silent for two seconds, then spoke: "Let’s go eat first."
Getting in the car, Mu Ke looked at Jiayu, using a negotiating tone: "My place is closer from here, and I need to go back and take a shower too. How about having a simple lunch at my house?"
Jiayu seed a little distracted, still thinking about the big thing she just discovered.
Hearing Mu Ke’s words, she just casually nodded: "Whatever."
The car slowly started moving. It was Jiayu’s first ti going to Mu Ke’s ho, which was larger than hers. As soon as she entered, she felt a cold aura that matched Mu Ke well.
The house was entirely decorated in black, white, and gray tones; even the occasional decorative objects were built with tallic lines, lacking any sense of warmth.
But the house was very tidy and extrely clean.
Mu Ke took out a pair of light blue velvet slippers from the shoe cabinet and placed them beside Jiayu’s feet: "Bought according to your shoe size; they should fit."
Jiayu was taken aback, had he anticipated her coming?
After changing shoes and entering the house, she sat down on the sofa, and Mu Ke said he was going to take a shower, allowing Jiayu to do whatever she wanted.
Jiayu surveyed Mu Ke’s house; it was indeed very neat and clean. She wondered whether all doctors have a cleanliness obsession, but for a bachelor man living alone to maintain the house this clean was quite rare.
Jiayu walked into Mu Ke’s study, where three walls were lined with books, most of which were related to dicine, with so leisure books as well. Jiayu’s gaze scanned over them one by one, finally resting on a book about human genetic inheritance.
The dical books were all very thick. She followed the index to find the part she wanted to read. It was an entirely English book, and Jiayu originally thought it wouldn’t be difficult for her to read, but she quickly realized she was too naive—many of the specialized terms in the dical books were completely unfamiliar to her.
After looking for a while and not finding what she was looking for, she put the book back.
"What do you want to look at?"
A cold voice suddenly ca from behind. Jiayu turned around to see Mu Ke had finished his shower and ca out, wearing a simple cotton T-shirt and with a towel on his head. His face was still damp, and standing this close, she could clearly sense the warm and slightly moist aura from him.
After taking a shower, Mu Ke had a faint mint scent, which slled very refreshing. His always cold face was tinged with a layer of soft red due to the steam, which was sowhat tempting.
Jiayu had seen handso n before, but it was the first ti she’d been tempted by a man just out of the bath.
She quickly looked away, speaking awkwardly: "I... I was just browsing. I can’t understand your books anyway."
Mu Ke’s gaze passed over her head, looking at the book Jiayu had taken down and put back. She had put it back upside down.
