The sky grew darker, and the neon lights on the street lit up early.
Mu Ke arrived at the place Chen Xueli had ntioned, only to see Chen Xueli supporting a drunken woman, walking out from a KTV.
Jiayu could barely stand, while Xue Lu was swaying back and forth.
Mu Ke furrowed his brows tightly and just as he took Jiayu from Chen Xueli, Xue Lu suddenly leaned down by a tree on the roadside and began to vomit.
The sll of alcohol was strong on both of them; Mu Ke’s frown deepened as he looked at Chen Xueli with puzzled eyes.
Chen Xueli shrugged helplessly. He didn’t know what was going on either; he just received a phone call from Xue Lu to co pick them up, and by the ti he arrived, they were already like this.
Mu Ke greeted Chen Xueli, then directly lifted Jiayu horizontally and carried her towards the car. Suddenly, a drunken female voice sounded behind him: "Hey, Doctor Mu, you must treat my Jiayu well, or else... ugh..."
Xue Lu didn’t finish her sentence before she started vomiting again.
Mu Ke looked back at her and Chen Xueli waved his hand to indicate everything was fine, which made Mu Ke turn away again and put Jiayu into the car.
Jiayu was not completely drunk; her eyes were hazy with a watery shine, her face adorned with a smile, looking at him softly.
Mu Ke fastened her seatbelt and went around to the driver’s seat, started the car, and drove off.
The man’s face naturally showed a bit of discontent; Jiayu’s stomach was fragile, yet she drank like this, totally unaware of taking care of herself.
Jiayu seed oblivious to Mu Ke’s displeased expression. Her head tilted against the backrest, glancing up at Mu Ke, then lowering her gaze, glancing again, and lowering her gaze again, then giggling foolishly.
At the red light, Mu Ke took out a bottle of water, unscrewed the cap, and gave Jiayu a little. In his clear and deep voice, he finally asked, "Are you drunk?"
Jiayu still giggled, her head shaking like a rattle.
She retained just a shred of consciousness, aware of her location and the people around her, but her body was evidently not obeying her.
Mu Ke pinched her face irritably, and Jiayu promptly leaned into his palm.
Mu Ke sighed softly; his patience wore thin every ti because of her, his temper subdued.
Once they finally returned to the apartnt building, Mu Ke opened the car door and got out, walked around to Jiayu’s side and lifted her out. Just as he placed her on the ground, Jiayu suddenly reached out, wrapped her arms around Mu Ke’s neck, speaking with a soft but commanding voice, "Carry ."
Mu Ke supported her, shut and locked the car door, bent slightly, and carried Jiayu on his back, slowly walking toward the unit door.
As expected, Jiayu was indeed drunk, and all of Mu Ke’s focus was on her, leaving no one to notice the car trailing them from not far behind.
He Xin, at the hospital parking lot, took her car preparing to leave, coincidentally saw Mu Ke co out. Her discontent unnaturally urged her to follow.
And then she saw Mu Ke stop at a KTV entrance, lift a drunken woman, and she followed them all the way there, seeing Mu Ke carrying the person on his back.
He Xin gripped the steering wheel tightly, her dissatisfaction growing increasingly intense; she had never seen Mu Ke act so gently before.
At the hospital, he was always cool and distant, and she assud that was his true nature. But here he was, incredibly gentle with a woman, and she couldn’t understand why.
