Capítulo 724: Chapter 632: The Approaching Storm

Just as Li Lingling was successfully intervening.

On the other end of the shelter.

Teacher Black Circle and his colleagues weren’t achieving great results with their work.

Or rather—they had no results at all.

The night was deep, and the moonlight was dim. The lights of flashlights outside flickered like tired eyes, weakly piercing the stagnant air filled with the scent of earth and damp mold.

The shadows of the tents twisted into distorted shapes underfoot, resembling a silent mockery of sorts.

Teacher Black Circle and his colleagues walked despondently through the narrow pathways between the tents.

“What’s going on? Wasn’t it easy for Nan Zhubin to chat with people during the day?” one colleague scratched his head, kicking away a small pebble blocking their way, “Theoretically, people who co out to wander at night should be more brooding, with more desire for venting…”

The colleague’s voice was filled with frustration and confusion: “Why is it not working for us?”

From the ti they parted with Nan Zhubin until now—not a single effective interview had been completed.

Either they couldn’t start a conversation at all, or when they finally did, the other party only brought up demands for supplies and the environnt.

Once it was known that Teacher Black Circle and his colleagues weren’t staff here, but rather so kind of psychological teachers, the people clamd up about their situations and the “Dragon King’s” state, not uttering a word.

Teacher Black Circle didn’t speak, he just took a deep breath of the cold, murky air, feeling the chill penetrate into his lungs.

“We only saw the surface of his conversations.” Teacher Black Circle rubbed his forehead, feeling as if his dark circles had deepened, “I didn’t expect the gap between us to be this big.”

After half a day with no results, the sense of frustration was strong.

However, after complaining a couple of sentences, Teacher Black Circle and his colleagues quickly adjusted their mindset. After all, this situation was quite common in scientific research life.

The colleague even had ti for a jest: “Teacher should already be asleep by now, right? If we go back now… we shouldn’t get scolded?”

Teacher Black Circle nodded slightly: “Probably.”

The colleague felt relieved: “Phew… a day of exhaustion, ti to clock out!”

Their footsteps alternated between heavy and light, changing with their mood but overall, it was not too bad.

After working all day, their energy had hit a low point, dragging their weary bodies and limbs, they planned to first return to their residence.

However, when they passed near the staff rest area.

Poof—

Teacher Black Circle suddenly stopped in his tracks.

The colleague asked curiously: “What’s wrong? Stopping all of a sudden in the dark… oh my god!”

Not far away.

They saw Nan Zhubin using a box to makeshift a “table and chair” outside the lounge, holding a flashlight over a notebook as he spoke. Although the light was dim, the little visibility showed he was full of energy.

Opposite him was the nurse Li Lingling from earlier in the day — she was excitedly yet clearly reporting sothing to Nan Zhubin, her fingers occasionally gesturing animatedly.

“… When I heard the child crying and that lady muttering ‘Dragon King’, ‘Dragon Scale’, I was quite nervous and even a bit panicked… but then I suddenly rembered what Teacher Nan said during the day, to first validate their emotions and establish trust. So, I said to that lady, ‘The child is itchy, you must be feeling so bad watching,’ and her emotions cald down a bit…”

“Yes, emotional empathy is the first step to building a communication bridge, you seized the key.”

“Then I checked the child’s skin and found the rash looked more like eczema or sothing caused by scratching from allergies. The lady insisted it was ‘Dragon Scale’, so I tried, like you, to use concrete examples and then downplay the symbolism…”

Their discussion was in low voices, clearly not wanting to wake others, but from the large gestures, it was not hard to see the excitent in both of them — especially Li Lingling.

“Wait… are they reviewing the day’s interview?” the colleague muttered to himself.

Teacher Black Circle shook his head slowly, “No, there was no such interview subject during the day, it must have been done just now. And it sounds like it was conducted independently by that nurse, she’s now reporting to Nan Zhubin.”

The colleague was dumbfounded: “Wait… shouldn’t Nan Zhubin have been deep asleep by now, considering the workload he had during the day? At least he was just now… how has he already recovered?”

“And what does it an that the nurse conducted the interview independently?!”

Although it was all simple Chinese without any obscure terms, the way they were put together now made it seem as if the language center in the colleague’s brain was damaged and he couldn’t make sense of it.

Teacher Black Circle didn’t imdiately answer him.

Not until they got closer, clearer both visually and audibly, did they find that Nan Zhubin was more than just “recovered.”

He was positively lively, vibrant, and spirited!

“Oh, you’re back.” Not only was his energy restored, Nan Zhubin seed to be in a great mood, even greeted Teacher Black Circle and his colleague when he saw them approaching.

The two instinctively lifted their hands to nod as a response.

Actually, they weren’t “back”, they were “about to leave.”

“Nan… Junior Brother,” Teacher Black Circle said, choosing a slightly more intimate address to suit the situation, “Don’t you need to rest a bit longer?”

Nan Zhubin shook his head: “You’ve heard my work plan for the day, I plan to go out again at night, there might be extra surprises in the interview results at this ti.”

Upon hearing this plan, Li Lingling, who had just verified what she learned, wanted to follow, but was persuaded by Nan Zhubin not to.
