Chapter 63: God: Who Withdrew a ssage?
Chuer had been driven into a corner. He was consud entirely by fury, and a rush of hot blood surged straight to his head.
He threw himself back to his feet and snatched up the longsword beside him.
Tangible Vital Energy coiled around Chuer's body, and a layer of white patterns rose along the blade of his sword.
A warrior's 'Battle Skill.'
Unlike Magic, this was a technique that could only be used through a warrior's 'Vital Energy.'
Like a gale tearing across the earth, Chuer ca charging at him at full speed.
Viktor instinctively raised the Silver Blade in front of himself and took Chuer's heavy blow head-on.
In an instant, the earth behind Viktor erupted, and a violent shockwave of splitting air tore through the trees dozens of ters away.
Viktor's hands went numb. He staggered back several steps.
"As expected—my physical strength can't match a traditional warrior's."
Viktor muttered to himself, lowering his head slightly.
Chuer swung his longsword in a wide arc over Viktor's head.
The timing was perfectly seized.
Viktor spun his hand around and drove the sword's poml into Chuer's side.
It produced little effect, however—the powerfully built Chuer rely stumbled back a few steps.
Chuer drove his patterned longsword hard into the ground. The earth shook, and a violent shockwave surged up from beneath the surface.
Viktor read the timing precisely, stepped back once, and sidestepped the tremor rippling through the ground with ease.
But Chuer still refused to relent—he swept the blade up from the earth and sent it soaring skyward.
A blade gust erupted in an instant, driving straight toward Viktor.
Once, twice, 3 tis...
Chuer continued sending blade gusts at Viktor one after another, yet all he could see was the man evading every last one of them with agile, fluid movent.
His eyes narrowed sharply. With a thud, he plunged his longsword into the earth beneath his own feet.
A powerful wind pressure spiraled outward around him, expanding in every direction.
Viktor's gaze remained as calm as ever. He identified the gap in the barrier and drove his longsword through it.
The stunning hurricane barrier was shattered with that single, effortless strike.
Every move Chuer made—Viktor could see a way to counter it.
He stepped forward, seizing the lag ti after Chuer's skill, and drove his blade toward Chuer's body.
But at that mont, Chuer suddenly pulled a round shield from his waist and thrust it directly in Viktor's path.
The expression on his face turned increasingly savage.
If he could just parry Viktor's attack—just once!
A stunned Viktor would be torn to shreds in an instant!
But before he could get his way, Viktor suddenly broke into a faint smile.
"How naive."
Boom!
His body abruptly transford into a mass of fla, swept around the round shield, and engulfed Chuer entirely.
The staggering blaze looked as though it would burn Chuer down to nothing, and his screams of agonizing pain rang out from within the barrier!
The explosion of firelight lit up half the sky.
When the flas at last dispersed, Viktor's figure reappeared in his original position.
He flicked his longsword with a casual grace that was utterly composed.
Chuer, on the other hand, was covered head to toe in burn wounds, gasping for breath, barely holding himself upright with his weapon propped against the ground.
"Why... why?"
Chuer stared with wide eyes. In this mont, he could not accept it.
In his own domain—close combat—he had fallen short of even a Mage!
And on top of that, this Mage could cast Magic within range of the Anti-Magic Stones!
This was not fair!
He refused to accept it, he absolutely refused to accept it!!
Why was his every move seen through completely by the other man?
Even the secret weapon he had prepared well in advance.
In Viktor's eyes, it seed it hadn't even been worth calling a secret!
In this mont, Chuer erupted with rage.
Dense crimson blood energy wound around his body like a terrifying aura of bloodlust.
Consud by fury, Chuer lost all reason entirely. He tore the armor from his own body, then pressed the longsword directly against his own blood.
The blood seed to respond to the call, and gradually crawled up along the blade.
This beast-like madness sent a shudder through the hearts of everyone watching.
Even Viktor appeared startled, standing rooted in place without moving a muscle.
Chuer heaved up the blood-crimson greatsword and leapt at Viktor, bringing it down in a savage slash—a powerful sword aura burst out alongside a wave of blood and ford a surrounding field in an instant.
Even Viktor was caught within it.
Seeing how utterly unhinged Chuer had beco, the subordinates beside Leah asked anxiously:
"Miss Leah! Should we not move in yet?"
"There's no need."
Leah watched the battle unfolding inside, not a trace of worry on her face.
The very mont she had seen Viktor use Magic, she had known.
This fight—Chuer could not win it.
"He wants to play. Let him play."
"Once the battle is over, we'll handle the cleanup."
Leah said it plainly, yet her words were filled with absolute confidence in Viktor.
After all, he was the youngest genius in the Imperial Capital.
How could he possibly lose to a Kingdom warrior?
Whoosh—
A powerful surge of blood energy burst outward in every direction, churning with wind, wild and restless.
The currents sliced through the air like a series of blades, bearing down on Viktor.
Viktor moved at his own unhurried pace, as though taking a stroll through a quiet courtyard, weaving continuously through the gaps between the blade currents.
The blades swept through empty air, slicing the surrounding trees into splinters by the thousands—the trees crashed down with crack after crack.
Chuer's eyes were shot through with blood. Within the field of churning wind, his crimson gaze tracked Viktor's every movent without blinking.
Just once—even once.
Even landing a single blow would be enough!
But—
"Well then. You've had your fun."
A voice, level as still water, drifted into his ears. When Chuer looked toward Viktor again, roaring flas were burning in the man's hand.
"I suggest you not forget sothing."
Viktor planted his feet at the edge of the blood field and set the Silver Blade down within it.
He pronounced the other man's final sentence.
"I am a Mage."
Fla suddenly clung to the blade!
A current struck the Silver Blade's edge. Viktor twisted with the force of it, and the fla-wreathed longsword rode along the current and wrapped itself around the entire field!
What had been Chuer's own attack had, in this mont, beco a prison of fire forged from it.
The temperature surged and spiked with violent intensity—as though it ant to set the entire wilderness ablaze!
As if it could no longer hold itself together, the entire field collapsed with a trendous roar!
BOOM—!!
An explosion as fierce and dense as a raging inferno swallowed the wilderness whole.
All anyone could see through the smoke and dust was a pitch-black figure blasted out of the explosion, crashing hard to the ground.
That was Chuer.
In the very end, he had burned his own blood energy and unleashed his final 'Battle Skill.'
And yet, it had still been entirely useless.
His technique had been broken by Viktor once again with ease.
It had even been turned against him as the final blow.
Penetrating wounds from the sword aura backlash tore through Chuer's limbs. He collapsed onto the ground, teetering at the edge of death.
The barrier he had erected shattered along with his fall, and a deep, pitch-black stone rolled with a clunk clunk to a stop at Viktor's feet.
Viktor walked to his side and looked down at him from above, expression composed.
The mont the barrier dissolved, Viktor felt his Magic Power returning.
Chuer lifted his head and looked up at Viktor. He wanted to find so sign of injury on the man's body.
And yet, aside from a few tears in the other man's clothing, he couldn't spot so much as a single drop of blood on Viktor.
With a flicker of fla, even the tears in his clothing restored themselves to their original state.
Chuer gave up. The light in his eyes went dim.
After witnessing that, even the very last shred of his hope was utterly crushed.
He stared up at the sky, and then, in a complete reversal of character, burst into laughter:
"Long live the Kingdom!"
The mont those words left his mouth, Leon's expression shifted sharply. She cried out in warning without hesitation:
"He's going to take poison!"
Chuer bit down and shattered his own back molar. The poison concealed inside took effect instantly.
In this mont, all he could feel was his own life draining away with terrifying speed...
And yet.
Viktor moved with lightning speed. With a flick of his Coat, several vials of Crimson Potion were forced down Chuer's throat.
Chuer's eyes flew wide open. In that instant, he suddenly felt his life beginning to return.
The sensation of life draining and life restoring struck him simultaneously.
The feeling was an agony like ten thousand ants gnawing at his heart.
Viktor watched Chuer writhing in tornt, and slowly, a devil's smile crept across his face.
"As I said."
"As long as I don't let you die—you won't be dying."
