Now reading: Chapter 1086: Crying Silently at Midnight from Will the Aloof Billionaire Divorce Today?, a Romance novel by Gentle Dance.

The sound of the crying was as faint as the buzz of a mosquito, fragnted because it was being desperately suppressed.

When Matthew Saxon first entered the room, he felt it was a bit cold, but he didn’t think much of it, assuming the air conditioning was just set too low.

It wasn’t until he followed the sound of the sobbing that he noticed the glass window on the balcony was open. The faint cries blew in with the cold wind, drifting right to where he stood.

Matthew’s expression subtly changed, and a complex look appeared in his eyes.

Without his permission, no one else was allowed to casually enter his room.

So, there was only one person who could be crying on the balcony.

It was Scarlett Yates...

It was five in the morning, and she hadn’t slept, sitting alone on the balcony in the cold wind, quietly crying.

She hadn’t turned on the light on the balcony, so when Matthew glanced that way, he saw only the pitch-black night.

The broken sobs reached his ears, and it was as if a needle pierced his heart, sending a tiny yet sharp pain to his chest.

The anger in his heart was instantly extinguished.

His heart felt heavy, as if weighed down by sothing. After a mont of hesitation, he strode toward the balcony.

The heater was off outside, and stepping out, the temperature felt as if it dropped ten degrees. The winter night wind was biting against his face.

Matthew didn’t know how long Scarlett had been sitting on the balcony.

Once he stepped out, he saw her.

The large balcony was enveloped in darkness, save for a single white silhouette, motionless in a corner.

The cries ca from there.

When Matthew reached the balcony, the crying stopped altogether.

The white silhouette shifted, then slowly turned its head.

Upon seeing him, she seed surprised, her eyes wide, staring at him unblinkingly for a few seconds before reaching up to wipe the tears from her eyes.

Matthew walked over slowly and casually turned on the light.

A magnolia-shaped lamp hung from the balcony ceiling, its light soft and warm, illuminating his handso, picture-perfect face, outlining his brows and eyes.

Perhaps due to the lighting, Scarlett felt that the expression on his face seed less cold; although still expressionless, the chilling air around him had diminished, no longer giving off a sinister feeling.

Seeing Matthew at this mont was unexpected for Scarlett, which is why she showed a surprised expression upon seeing him.

She thought that at least tonight, he wouldn’t return to the room.

She thought he would spend the night in the study if not elsewhere in the house.

Anywhere was fine, as long as he didn’t see her.

"Why aren’t you sleeping?" Matthew walked to her side. Once his eyes adjusted to the light, he lowered his gaze to study her, frowning as he did so, "It’s so cold outside, and you’re wearing so little, daring to co out in the cold wind. Do you think your body isn’t weak enough, that you want to get sick again?"

Under normal circumstances, Scarlett could tell that although he was reprimanding her, he actually had so concern in his voice. But now, she only felt that Matthew was blaming her.

He was blaming her for running out in so little clothing, for getting sick again, which would cause him a lot of trouble.

Scarlett remained silent for a while, then hoarsely said, "I’m not cold. The room was too stuffy, and I wanted to get so fresh air."
