This ti, Matthew Saxon spoke a lot to her, while she mostly remained silent as he continued talking.
To be honest, when he was discussing all the details of the wedding with her, Scarlett Yates’s anxiety and gloom were slowly soothed.

Logically, everything should be settled now. Matthew Saxon had taken Seymour back, Maxwell Saxon had lost all his power and posed no threat to him, what was there left to worry about?
Maybe the victory ca too fast and unexpectedly, she still felt a surreal, dreamlike sensation.
That night, Scarlett Yates slept uneasily, waking up four or five tis, almost every hour.
The dilapidated desolate house, the empty and uninhabited wilderness, was as quiet as being in an ancient tomb, giving a creepy feeling.
Uncle Thompson brought several blankets to make her a ground bed.
Fort City’s winter was freezing, several degrees below zero, even with blankets on the ground, sleeping half the night couldn’t warm her up.
She wrapped herself in a thick layer of blankets, yet still shivered with cold, the chill seed to seep up from the ground, perating the blanket on the floor.
Scarlett Yates dared not fall into deep sleep.
In such a desolate outdoor house, either mice would scurry about or bugs would crawl around. She feared waking up to find her face gnawed by mice.
She tightly wrapped the blankets around herself, shivering as her teeth chattered, just wishing the night would pass quickly.

The night passed.
Scarlett Yates’s eyes were so swollen they resembled light bulbs, her face was pale as if brushed with powder, looking extrely haggard.
Her eyes were bloodshot, her lips dry and chapped; she took the bottled water Uncle Thompson gave her and drank a few sips. The cold water went down her throat and made her shiver yet again.
