Capítulo 1499: Chapter 704: This Story Is Purely Fiction! (Part 3)

Victor circled around them, spitting insults that were harsher and more piercing with each sentence.

He berated the laxity in military managent to the absence of ideological construction, from dereliction of duty by senior officers to the non-existence of grassroots supervision, from betraying the trust of the people to disgracing the honor of the military…

He cursed for more than three hours!

No one dared to interject or even breathe heavily during this ti. The secretaries and guards outside the office could vaguely hear the roar from inside, all of them as silent as cicadas in winter.

It wasn’t until Victor’s voice started to beco hoarse that the fire of anger in his chest slightly subsided.

He sat back in his chair, picked up a water cup and took a sip, his gaze sweeping over the four nearly exhausted individuals in front of him.

“Imdiately establish a special military court led directly by the Supre Command to handle this case strictly, thoroughly, and swiftly! Lieutenant Alvarez, execute by firing squad imdiately after the public trial! Related responsible leaders, those to be dismissed should be dismissed, those to be investigated should be investigated, and those to be brought to military court, not one should be let go!”

“Also, I want to know where his drugs ca from? Who has such ability to smuggle drugs into my troops!”

“Using this case as a typical example, a thorough and deep ‘eradication of toxins, rectification of discipline’ campaign will be conducted across the entire army! You all, personally go to the grassroots to supervise! If I find any more such rotten affairs in any unit, then place your resignation letters and sidearms on my desk yourself.”

“Get out!”

In the dim and cramped confinent room, Lieutenant Alvarez curled up on the bed, staring blankly at the gray-white ceiling.

From the mont he was captured, he knew that his military career and even his life had co to an end.

At the peak of Victor’s vigorous crackdown on military discipline, involving such an amount of drugs, the only ending awaiting him was trial by military court and the sound of gunfire on the execution ground.

“Bang!”

The iron door was suddenly pulled open from the outside, glaring light shining in, making Alvarez squint his eyes instinctively.

Two politically grim-looking officers walked in, led by Major Martinez, the group-level politico-advisor.

“Alvarez, this is your last chance.”

He just turned his head, closed his eyes, and resisted everything with silence.

He developed a numbness of “letting it all go”, unwilling and too lazy to say anything.

The questioning continued for more than half an hour, no matter how Major Martinez reasoned or even suggested that cooperating might earn him a slim chance at the military court, Alvarez remained as silent as a stone, saying nothing.

Major Martinez’s patience finally ran out.

He slamd his hand on the table, pointing at Alvarez’s nose, his voice distorted with extre disappointnt and anger:

“Alvarez! You bastard! Do you know you’re bringing disgrace to the entire military! Have you forgotten how your father died?!”

Alvarez’s body trembled almost imperceptibly, but he still didn’t open his eyes.

Major Martinez continued to roar, each word lambasting Alvarez: “I rember your file! Your father, ten years ago in a mopping-up operation in Tabasco State, was ambushed and killed by those ‘Gulf’ bastards! He was a hero who sacrificed for the country, and your mother raised you and your brother with that little pension and odd jobs, working hard through hardships. The military accepted you, trained you to beco an officer, allowing you to inherit your father’s legacy, to give your mother and brother stable support and honor!”

“But what about you?! What the hell are you doing?! You’re trafficking drugs! You’re dealing with the stuff that killed your father and ruined countless families! You’re stepping on the honor your father exchanged with his life! How will your mother and brother hold their heads up in the future?! If they know about your current state, know what you’ve done, what will they think?! Your father would feel ashad of you even in his grave! Ashad!”

“Stop it! Stop it!”

Lieutenant Alvarez suddenly opened his eyes and shouted.

He could disregard his own life and death and endure the judgnt of military law, but he couldn’t bear his family being ashad because of him. He couldn’t imagine the heartbroken and desperate look in his mother and brother’s eyes after they knew the truth, nor could he face his father’s possibly disappointed gaze from the grave.

“Then tell us!”

“I’ll tell you where it ca from, just don’t let my mom and brother know and let them think I died in duty… is that okay? I beg you, Major!”

He looked up, his face full of tears and plea, in that mont he resembled a child who had done sothing wrong and was afraid of being abandoned by his family.

Major Martinez looked at him, and the fury in his chest slightly cald, replaced by a heavy complexity.

He took a deep breath, his tone slightly softened but still serious: “That depends on your performance and the nature of the final situation.”

Lieutenant Alvarez seed drained of all energy, slumping down, and began to confess in a voice laden with nasal congestion and regret:

“Last ti I was on vacation, at the ‘Blue Bar’ in the city of Guadalajara, I t him, he was a Vietnase, she said her na was Anna… we got along well…”

In his account, a ticulously designed trap gradually surfaced. The woman nad “Anna”, young and beautiful, passionate and proactive, lured Alvarez in the atmosphere of alcohol and ambiguity, and he quickly fell, having an affair with her.

After several appointnts, Anna began to “inadvertently” tell him about a “new type of recreational item” that was exciting, and under her persuasion, he tried it for the first ti.

When he realized it was drugs, it was already a little late. Anna then exposed her true colors, threatening to report him to the military and using the indecent photos taken during their ti together as leverage, forcing him to use his officer status to help smuggle “so items” into the camp, and promising a huge reward.

“She said it was just a small favor, not much quantity, just one ti, I was very scared then, but sowhat tempted by the money, so I foolishly agreed…” Alvarez covered his face with his hands, his voice full of remorse, “This ti she said it was a bit big, but I couldn’t turn back already…”

“Anna? Contact details? How to find her?”

“I… I only have her one phone number, every ti she would contact , using different public phones, I don’t know where she lives, or who is behind her…”

Major Martinez imdiately jotted down the phone number, turned, and quickly stepped out of the confinent room, ordering the waiting military police at the door: “Imdiately hand over this number to technical inspection departnts to locate and trace, anwhile, notify the police in Guadalajara and the Federation Security Bureau to jointly monitor and investigate the ‘Blue Bar’ and surrounding areas! Quickly!”

He realized that this was not just an individual depravity case of an officer, but behind it might lurk a drug trafficking network attempting to infiltrate and corrupt the military.

“Major, please, don’t tell my mom.”

Major Martinez took a deep breath, his mouth twitching, “I will!”
