When General Liszt strode into the conference room, flanked by Felix and several guards from the general staff, all conversations instantly ceased. Everyone stood up, their eyes fixed on the military giant.

Liszt did not head to the main seat but stood at the entrance. He didn’t speak, but the invisible pressure had already made several people’s foreheads sweat.

He finally spoke after a minute of silence:

"Espinoza disobeyed orders and delayed operations. He has been relieved of duty and is under investigation. This was personally approved by the Leader."

With one sentence, the tone was set.

He walked to the front of the conference table: "I know so of you have been with Espinoza for many years, have your thoughts, and even feel aggrieved. Now, I’m giving you a chance."

He paused, his gaze turning fiercer, "If you’re dissatisfied with the Leader’s decision, if you’re unhappy with Mr. Felix Gonzalez exercising supre temporary power, you can stand up right now! Take off your uniform, remove your insignia, and get out of this door! The army doesn’t need an officer of your kind with two legs!"

The conference room was silent enough to hear a pin drop, with only heavy breathing. No one dared to move, much less stand up.

"No one standing up?" Liszt sneered, slamming the table with a loud bang that made the water glasses on the table jump!

"Then listen up, damn it!"

He extended a finger, pointing at everyone present, "If anyone dares to commit deceit, shirk responsibility, or engage in sabotage... Espinoza will be your fate!"

"I’ll personally twist his head off and hang it on the flagpole at the command departnt entrance so all of you can see what happens when you disobey military orders!"

No one dared to say more, nor did anyone doubt he could do it.

"Do you all understand?!" Liszt roared.

"Understood, General!" All the officers snapped back to attention, straightening their backs and yelling with full force, afraid that a second’s delay would make them an example.

The next morning, the newly appointed Commander of the Michoacán Military District, Joseph Xiafei, arrived in Morelia, travel-worn. Instead of going to the command center for handover, he headed straight to the town hall to et with Felix.

Xiafei was a doer. Upon eting Felix, he spoke straight to the point:

"Mr. Gonzalez, I have been ordered to take over as the Commander of the Michoacán Military District. General Liszt has briefed , and I will fully cooperate with all your actions."

He saw the fortifications, the figures of ard militants moving behind them, and heard the piercing loudspeaker.

He lowered the binoculars, showing no expression, picked up the vehicle’s radio microphone, and connected to the company’s public channel:

"Attention all units, target village, Santa Ana del Alto. The village is fully controlled by ard insurgents who previously ambushed and killed six of our police officers with heinous ans."

"Higher command orders: complete eradication, no unfinished business left."

"Final ultimatum, giving them five minutes to lay down arms, exit the village, and surrender."

A soldier used a loudspeaker to repeat the order to surrender towards the village in Spanish and the local dialect.

The cursing from the loudspeaker paused for a mont, then beca even sharper and crazed:

"Dream on! Governnt dogs! Co on! Make sure none of you return!"

There were even sporadic gunshots aid at the convoy, bullets clinking against the armored vehicles.

Captain Salvador checked his watch.

Five minutes, no more, no less.

No one appeared to surrender at the village entrance; instead, the provocative gunfire intensified.

Captain Salvador lowered his wrist and spoke into the microphone, uttering just two words:

"Open fire."

At the command, the gunner on the military pickup truck with a mounted heavy machine gun abruptly pulled the trigger!
