Capítulo 1882: Chapter 809: My Great India Empire?~

New Delhi, India, Pri Minister’s Office

The scorching sunlight was baking the lawn in front of the Pri Minister’s Office, and among the hundreds of journalists and officials standing on the grass, quite a few were covering their noses.

Fuck… it stinks!

Slls like cow shit.

They held up caras and recording equipnt, all aid at the podium that had just been set up.

Indian Pri Minister Indira Kumar Gujral adjusted the microphone. Today he had deliberately chosen a traditional white kurta, with a fresh marigold pinned to his chest, and on his face was a look that mixed solemnity with provocation.

“Ladies and gentlen, friends from the international community.”

His English carried a heavy Indian accent, but his enunciation was clear and forceful. “In the past few months, the world has witnessed a heartbreaking tragedy: a great civilized nation, weakened by the sches of external forces and internal betrayal, is facing an unprecedented crisis of division.”

The venue fell silent, broken only by the clicking of cara shutters.

Pri Minister Gujral’s voice gradually rose: “But today, I want to speak on behalf of India, the world’s largest democracy, the heir to an ancient civilization, the leader of the Non-Aligned Movent—to send out a clear ssage!”

He paused, sweeping his gaze around the hall to make sure every lens was pointed at him.

“We firmly oppose any external force interfering in the internal affairs of a sovereign state! We firmly oppose the despicable practice of funding terrorism and inciting secession to achieve geopolitical ends! The xican Governnt’s recent series of actions has gone far beyond the scope of legitimate diplomacy; this is a crude trampling on international law and the Charter of the United Nations!”

A murmur ran through the press corps. This was the first ti India had so openly and forcefully accused xico.

“So people might ask,” Pri Minister Gujral pulled an exaggeratedly puzzled face, “why is India speaking up now? Let tell you: because when an old man is under siege, standing by and watching is not an option for a civilized nation! Because when the Ghost of colonialism returns in a new disguise, the countries that once suffered from colonial tornt must stand up!”

He raised his right hand, index finger stabbing at the Sky: “The United Kingdom may have made mistakes, but the fate of the United Kingdom should be decided by the British people, not by so strongman in xico City! The status of Scotland should be resolved through peaceful dialogue, not through smuggling weapons and training terrorists!”

The British High Commissioner to India, seated in the front row, wore a complicated expression. On the one hand, London had indeed privately asked India to “voice support at an appropriate ti”; on the other, this naked “solidarity” only made the United Kingdom look even more pitiful and helpless.

“Moreover.”

Pri Minister Gujral suddenly shifted tack, his tone turning mocking. “xico has recently been eager to play the decolonization champion? How ironic! A country that still has massive indigenous rights issues at ho, a country whose Economy has been on the rise for barely ten years, actually dares to lecture a country with three hundred years of global governance experience?”

The giant screen behind him suddenly lit up, showing a comparative set of data: xico’s Gini coefficient, indigenous poverty rates, records of border conflicts… alongside old photos of famines and massacres in India during the United Kingdom’s colonial rule.

“If we are to settle the accounts of colonial history,” Gujral’s voice was almost a roar, “then we must settle them in full! The United Kingdom should apologize and pay compensation to India, yes! But shouldn’t xico also apologize and compensate the Mayans and Aztec descendants within its own borders? Or is it that only the sins of White people colonizers need to be settled, while the sins of brown colonizers can be ignored?”

The Journalist District exploded. This was landing a blow on the xican Army—snatching the ‘anti-colonial’ banner for himself while exposing xico’s double standards.

“Therefore, I hereby declare,” Pri Minister Gujral straightened his back, his voice carried across the entire venue by the loudspeakers, “First, India will submit a proposal to the United Nations Security Council, calling for an investigation into xico’s ‘illegal intervention activities’ in Scotland and other parts of the United Kingdom. Second, India will take the lead in establishing a ‘Forr Colonies Justice and Reconciliation Forum’, inviting all countries that have suffered colonial rule to participate and jointly discuss solutions to historical legacy issues—this forum will be open to all countries, except those that are currently implenting new forms of colonialism!”

He gave deliberate emphasis to “new forms of colonialism”, his spearhead clearly aid at xico.

“Third, as an important mber of the Commonwealth, India is willing to provide diation to help the British governnt and the Scottish side find a peaceful and just solution. We have rich experience in handling diversity and local autonomy, for example in Kashmir…”

Here he stumbled slightly, clearly realizing that this example was not very appropriate, but he quickly glossed over it: “In short, India has the wisdom and the ability to help all sides.”

“Lastly,” Pri Minister Gujral took a deep breath, his expression becoming incomparably solemn, “I want to say to those countries that are trying to rewrite the rules of the international order: the 21st century will be the century of Asia, the century of the developing world! The old powers are in decline, new powers are on the rise—but that rise should co through peaceful developnt and cultural influence, not through conspiracy and weapons! As a country that is about to beco the world’s third-largest Economy, India has both the responsibility and the capability to defend a rules-based international order!”

The speech ended.

Applause burst out from the seats of the Indian officials, warm and prolonged. The reaction in the international Journalist District was much more mixed: many people looked at each other, so scribbled furiously, others could only shake their heads with a wry smile.
