Chapter 1100: Chapter 157: Monsters Swarming In

It’s a monster!

At this mont, everyone’s eyes were focused on Monitor No. 6.

In the footage, several white figures flashed by, followed by a flurry of sparks from the bullets fired by the special forces team.

The monsters moved too fast and used the surrounding cover to approach everyone at high speed.

“They’re coming! Shoot quickly!”

A terrified shout ca from the earpiece, and the special forces team mbers frantically pulled the trigger towards the front, but few bullets could hit the target.

Even the few that did hit were blocked by the monster’s thick fur, making it difficult to cause damage.

“Boom!”

A grenade was launched, and the massive explosion echoed throughout the village.

A white figure was blasted out from its cover by the shockwave, struggled on the ground for a mont, and then fell still.

“It worked!”

Dylan’s eyes lit up at this scene.

Ordinary rifle bullets couldn’t harm these monsters, but fortunately, heavy weapon attacks were effective at inflicting damage.

However, before he could even smile, the next image from the screen froze his expression on his face.

Seven or eight white monsters descended from the sky and instantly pounced into the squad, with the surrounding buildings serving as their perfect cover.

“Ah!! Save …”

A piercing scream ca through the earpiece, and Cara No. 6 was crushed underfoot, leaving the screen in darkness.

“Damn it!”

Dylan slamd his fist onto the table, the fury in his eyes almost bursting forth.

anwhile, more gunfire erupted from all directions, with team mbers’ exclamations continually coming through the comms.

“Fifth Squad has encountered monsters! Requesting support! Requesting support!!”

“This is Seventh Squad, we’re surrounded! Soone get here quickly!”

“First Squad! First Squad! We’ve found a large number of monsters in the outer buildings! There are too many! At least a hundred of them!!”

“…”

A barrage of SOS cries filled the air, and the previously calm command post instantly erupted into chaos.

The situation was overwhelmingly one-sided, leaving Dylan montarily dazed.

After a brief lapse, he quickly snapped back and shouted into the communicator:

“Everyone! Fall back! Fall back! Return to the command center! Set up sniper positions on the defensive line!! Third Squad! Provide long-range cover!!”

The nearby special forces mbers tasked with vigilance exchanged glances, all filled with anxiety.

The voices they heard in the earpiece made it clear that this operation was likely dood.

They hadn’t directly faced the terror of the monsters, but the screams of their teammates said enough; their guns wouldn’t suffice.

“Intelligence failure! Intelligence failure! The monsters’ defensive power far exceeds expectations! The 7.62 armor-piercing rounds are largely ineffective! Heavy firepower is needed to kill them!”

“The number of monsters also far exceeds the estimated fifteen! There are at least a hundred! Outland Village can’t have any survivors! Request imdiate aerial firepower deploynt!!”

“…”

Clutching the communicator, Dylan reported to the base with reddened eyes, the veins on his forehead ready to burst at any mont.

“Michael…”

Remy turned to Dane, speaking in a hurried tone.

But he was imdiately cut off by the latter, who shook his head and said:

“I know what you want to say… but… we need to stabilize first… There are only two of us, and there are too many monsters; rescue efforts would be pointless… We must hold the line here to secure the retreat route, so we can save more people.”

Upon finishing, he couldn’t help but clench his fists, his gaze also filled with a mix of anger and helplessness.

Just as he said, there were simply too many monsters, with cries of alarm coming from all sides. There was no way the two of them could handle it.

It was better to stand their ground until reinforcents arrived.

If this position were breached, none of the special forces mbers would survive.

Hearing his senior say this, Remy could only suppress his urge to act rashly and began to keep watch over the surroundings.

The monsters arrived quickly, appearing nearby along with the sound of gunfire before long.

“Boom! Boom! Boom!!”

A series of explosions were heard, as the first squad to retreat appeared in the field of view of a few people.

They were in a sorry state, stumbling as they ran, and had nearly exhausted their ammunition.

“Roar!”

A roar sounded from behind them, followed by three figures erging from the flas, hunting them down.

Corrosion!

This was the basic combination sequence of the Burst Spirit Skill.

Remy had been prepared for a long ti; seeing the monsters appear, he imdiately raised his hand and shot a purple beam of light.

“Sizzle!”

The unique corrosive sound of the Burst Spirit Skill echoed, hitting the chest of a White Monster in midair, causing it to fall back.

But, the injury didn’t seem to affect it much.

Although there was a small hole in its chest, not much blood flowed out, only a glimpse of crimson could be seen inside the wound.

The monsters had incredibly low body temperatures, making it hard for thermal imaging devices to detect them from a distance.

Fortunately, they emitted faint Dark Energy Fluctuations, allowing the Spirit Detection Technique to clearly detect them within fifty ters.

Remy’s shot only temporarily saved those special forces mbers but did not completely resolve their crisis, as a few White Monsters continued their relentless pursuit.

At the next mont, Dane made his move.

He removed the Eye of Calamity cube from a pendant at his waist, and with a shift of his mind, it emitted purple light that ford a black handgun.

The surrounding special forces mbers were drawn by the commotion and glanced over, unable to tear their gazes away.

The handgun was entirely black, clearly made of stone, and the purple patterns on it glimred brightly.

Even though the barrel was solid, everyone instinctively felt it was a weapon with Extraordinary Power.

“Whizz! Whizz! Whizz!”

With several breaking sounds, Dane fired seven or eight shots of small purple beams.

With skilled technique and enhanced physique, each shot accurately hit the heads of the targets.

The White Monsters scread in agony.

Although their Constitution exceeded normal creatures by far, their brains were destroyed, leading to instant death.

Seeing the pursuing monsters get killed eased the tension among those present.

The team mbers retreated until they reached behind the temporary defensive line.

Dylan gave them no chance to relax and shouted:

“Don’t let up! Quickly replenish ammunition, find cover to shoot, and cover the retreat of the others!”
