"Rat-tat-tat-tat-tat-tat~"
The heavy sound of the machine gun echoed inside the titanium alloy-crafted cabin.
A massive amount of yellow blood burst from the body of the Scythe Insect rushing at them, spraying onto the nearby ground, corroding it into nurous large holes.
These were special bullets modified by the Hurricane Bureau.
Even though the shell of the Desert Worm was thick, at such close range, it was still able to inflict effective damage.
However, before Tony and Ottos could catch their breath, another monster charged in from behind.
Through the torn gap, a dense swarm of black insect beasts could be seen.
The sight made one’s scalp tingle.
Both n now knew that they were beyond the point of survival.
"Ahhh! You beasts! Die!!"
Ottos pulled the trigger, crazily shooting at the Scythe Insect ahead.
Knowing death was inevitable, he no longer harbored any illusions of survival.
Now all he wanted was to kill a few more insects before dying, at least to avenge the Apollo Team.
"Rat-tat-tat-tat-tat-tat~"
The machine gun’s burst of fire seed like the final notes of this planet, the last Chapter composed by these two.
But as the walls were breached and the air dwindled, this symphony grew weaker by the minute.
"Tssssh!"
More insects tore open the cabin wall, struggling to get inside.
Surrounded, Ottos couldn’t cover them all.
It would only take a few seconds for the insects to knock them down, bringing death.
From the outside, the slowly moving base car was already covered with insects, surrounded by a black sea, daunting to any gaze.
With such a swarm, even if they lined up to be killed by Ottos, his ammo wouldn’t suffice.
Then, perhaps obstructed by the Desert Worms or influenced by Longinus’ Spear’s magnetic field, the base car began to slowly decelerate, ultimately stopping.
"Ahhhhh!"
Ottos continued to roar.
But the machine gun’s bullets were depleted, no more flas burst from the muzzle, leaving the scene silent and sowhat awkward.
"We... we’re not dead...?"
Tony was the first to react, looking around in disbelief.
The surroundings were in disarray; the walls of the base car had been dismantled into a ss by the insects.
Like a beehive, riddled with holes.
Yet, strangely, the swarm that had besieged them earlier had vanished, seemingly disappearing suddenly.
The interior was silent.
If the base car hadn’t been completely wrecked, they might have thought it was all just a dream.
"Where are the insects?"
Ottos opened his eyes, his expression mirroring Tony’s.
He dropped the empty machine gun, a wave of pain coursing through his arms.
His hands were nearly numb from the machine gun’s recoil.
"There they are!"
Tony suddenly shouted, pointing to the rear of the base car.
Ignoring the pain, Ottos pushed open the damaged door and looked back.
The dense swarm of black insects hadn’t left, instead observing from about a hundred ters away.
Scanning around, indeed, those beings were all there, with no other insects around.
"What’s going on... why aren’t they coming over...?"
Tony stepped out, gazing at the distant swarm with bewildernt.
Ottos glanced back at the towering Longinus’ Spear, seemingly gaining so insight.
"They seem to fear that."
This conclusion was evident.
Because on this desolate planet, apart from that spear, there was nothing else.
"It’s Longinus’ Spear, it was indeed Longinus’ Spear that saved us! Hahaha! So that’s its secret! It’s for suppressing the insect beasts, I see! I see! Hahaha!!"
Hysterical laughter erupted from Ottos.
After this life-and-death crisis, he felt relieved.
As though a heavy burden had been lifted, he just wanted to sit on the ground and laugh it out.
Beside him, Tony was equally affected by this sentint, also laughing heartily.
Like two madn, they laughed unreservedly on this barren land.
Finally, they laughed until they bent over, gasping, eventually lying down on the ground.
It was unclear how much ti had passed, but the two gradually recovered so physical strength, sitting up from the ground.
Not far away, the Desert Worms were still watching.
They constantly tested, silently roaring, seeming eager to rush over.
Yet, hindered by so reasons, they dared not do so.
"So you have things you’re afraid of too."
Tony looked relieved, glancing at the distant spear, sighed:
"Unfortunately, we can’t contact the command center, this secret can’t be relayed to them."
A flash of despondency passed through Ottos’ eyes.
He knew, even if they escaped the insect’s pursuit now, it wouldn’t matter.
This was the Moon, with the base car damaged, no supplies, they were destined to die.
"Let’s go, if we’re to die, let us see what’s special about that spear before we do."
Tony stood up first, then headed toward the location of Longinus’ Spear.
