In Stuart’s mind, there were the details of getting along with Edie. The woman’s joy and anger, her smile and action, all touched his heart. In his black scorpion deanor, so gentleness was revealed.
Then, Stuart whispered, "I told you the truth. I don’t have your life experience, but I also have the right to choose who I want to be with. Grandpa. Can you not see the advantages of Edie and getting married? Now, I have already obtained the certificate of marriage for Edie and myself. I am legally her husband. I do want to participate in her past, but in the future, I will do my best to protect her and take care of her. I won’t let her suffer, but protect and love her."
After listening to Stuart, the Old Greg did not loosen his expression. Instead, he stared more closely and sharply at Stuart, and his eyes did not move. Stuart looked back. A person with a guilty conscience must not be looked at for a long ti, and if he has not looked away. He is telling the truth.
There are only two situations - First, it is justified, and second, his performance is too good. Stuart was apparently the first one. The large study was now quiet as if nothing else needed to be said.
Suddenly, the Old Greg took back all the pressure and turned it into the old man who was laughing and amiable. He laughed loudly, and his laugh could be heard throughout the house. "Okay, yes, this naive child who hasn’t been so lucky. She has experienced a lot and it is hard to find a husband like you. I know that you didn’t tell all the truth, but I don’t want to ask until I know everything. I can see that you really love Edie, so just treat her well and don’t let down. If you dare to do sothing to hurt her, don’t bla for not showing you any rcy."
The Old Greg was also a wealthy man. When he was young, he established the Greg Group. He was courageous and brave. Even nowadays, he could still be like a lion.
"Of course, you are always welco to supervise ."
Stuart was happy that he t the old man’s approval, and he smiled. He knew that he passed the test of the Old Greg. Suddenly there was a knock on the door, and Old Greg said to co in. He saw Edie co in carrying two snacks.
"What are you talking about, and why are you so happy?" Edie looked puzzled as she looked at them in the study. She heard the Old Greg’s laugh from downstairs.
Knowing that these two’s temper could possibly not be compatible and yet they both looked very proud. Edie thought it was good that they didn’t argue. She never expected that Stuart could actually make her grandfather laugh.
"Edie, your husband, is a really good man, and you have my approval to live a good life with him."
The Old Greg smiled and told Stuart, "Stuart, when did your mother co to the city? We have beco a family, and we have to et each other and maybe have a al."
Edie had not responded yet, and Stuart had already answered, "It will not be for about a month or two. There are still so things to be dealt with by the mother. When she has handled it, we will invite you over."
"Oh, that sounds wonderful, then when is your wedding celebration? My granddaughter’s wedding can’t be sloppy."
When Edie heard this, she got anxious and rushed in front of Stuart, "Grandpa, we are not going to hold a celebration. It shows off too much. Today young people like getting married without having a huge wedding."
She and Stuart’s marriage was a fake, and it was an agreent. Others didn’t know, but she knew it. They originally wanted to have a wedding announcent. But letting her grandfather know that they had gotten married, how could she do that?
The Old Greg stared at his granddaughter and sneered, "Am I asking you?" Edie felt anxious, "Grandpa..."
"When my mother cos to the city, we can have an after-party for our wedding." This ti Edie was not interrupted by her grandpa, but by Stuart. He literally cut her right off from speaking, and she was thoroughly stunned.
What does he an by this? Isn’t it a fake marriage? How can they hold a party? She thought that maybe in his mind, it was a way to cover up his real sexual orientation and show everyone that this was indeed a real marriage. After all, he had to persuade his mother because sooner or later, there would be an inspection.
Edie’s thoughts were racing, going from one to another. She was surprised when the Old Greg turned around to ask her, "Edie, what do you think? Are you willing to wait until this ti?"
No, she was not willing to wait, and she was not willing to hold a wedding party! She couldn’t say this, of course. Edie had to say, "Yes, I am willing to wait for as long as it takes."
The Old Greg looked in their eyes and felt that the young couple had a good relationship and agreed. He felt reassured, "That’s good, you two are living together, and everything has been discussed. Right now, looking at the temperant of Stuart. He looks very pleased; presumably, your mother-in-law will be, too?"
When thinking about it, Edie felt even more embarrassed by the question. She has t her mother-in-law. Out of the whole Yates family, she has only seen Stuart. She didn’t dare tell them what she was thinking. Edie nodded slightly, "Of course, grandpa."
"That’s good if you et a woman like..." The Old Greg whispered and only said half of what he was going say, then he swallowed the rest of his words, realizing that it said in front of the young ones and swallowed the rest of the words.
The woman was Mrs. Greg. The Old Greg knew Mrs. Greg’s attitude towards Edie. But he has been in a senior’s ho for quite so ti now. He can only shelter Edie when he was at ho, and it bothered him that he couldn’t always protect her.
He always felt that Mrs. Greg was derogatory, and he hoped that her mother-in-law would be a gentle and easy-going person. This ti, he got a positive answer from Edie, so the Old Greg did not feel worried.
The two gathered in a conversation with the Old Greg to talk about the family. Edie didn’t expect Stuart to be so charming in front of the old man, and he was a good young man. He spoke in a decent manner, and he was able to take care of her grandfather and make him laugh.
"Why don’t you stay for dinner tonight and we can talk so more?" The Old Greg smiled at them. Edie quickly shook his head as she only wanted to see her Grandpa. He had no intention of talking to anyone else and intending to eat at ho.
"No, grandfather, we have sothing to do tonight. I ca here today because it was your birthday and the only one that I want to see is you. We will soon have to leave."
