"Edie, are you in there?"
Hearing Stuart’s voice, Ghost frowned imdiately. He looked around. Nothing could hide him. If the door was opened at the mont, Stuart would definitely see him.
"Shit. Am I bound to die here?" Ghost started complaining the fate.
"I am here. Stuart would not dare to do anything to you," Edie said imdiately.
"But when you send at the door and leave, Stuart might kill my next mont. It is not easy to survive. I don’t want to be killed. Shit. What should I do now??"
Edie wanted to say more words to comfort Ghost. She wanted to tell Stuart was not that kind of guy. But as she was about to say those words out, she found she was also not sure of it. So she had no choice but to hold all her words back.
Then she said in a low voice.
"I would help you. Don’t panic. I would not hurt my friend."
Hearing these words, Ghost imdiately cald himself down. Edie’s words were like a cold wind in winter.
Ghost looked towards Edie. He saw her face was pale. He got worried about her. He said awkwardly,
"I didn’t an that Stuart is a bad egg. I an, he is an important man. So he had to make a sacrifice. I am afraid I am so unlucky. I am the one that he chose to sacrifice."
"I know. I know what kind of man he is. He always tells he is a bad guy. But I never see that side of him. I know he would hurt others for his own benefit. But I love him. I would force myself to accept this. I am sorry. I am so sorry to trap you in such danger. I should apologize to you..."
"I didn’t an that, either. Don’t say that. It looks like I am returning your kindness with ingratitude..."
"Don’t overthink about it, "Edie couldn’t help herself raising the corner of her mouth and raised a slight smile.
She patted his shoulder heavily and said, "You are my friend. I am obliged to protect you. I still want to learn your skills when I am out of this place. I don’t want you to die now. If you die, I will lose a lot."
Hearing these words, Ghost knew Edie was trying to ease the atmosphere. He said, "Both you and I won’t die now. Let’s handle Julia first. Then I would teach you."
"Great. Deal."
Edie said words by word. Her voice faded out in the wind.
At the mont, outside the door, Stuart frowned. He fixed his eyes on the iron door of the roof. He was hesitating whether he should go back to take the key here.
Suddenly, the door was opened. The light poured onto the ground.
"Edie, why are you here?"
He looked towards her and then checked things behind her. The door was half-opened. He couldn’t see anything else.
He started suspecting. But he didn’t show anything in his eyes. He was really good at covering.
"The sky was dark this morning. I thought it might be raining outside. So I ca here to see. I am starving now. Let’s go back."
Edie smiled slightly. When she walked to Stuart, she closed the door, leaving Stuart no chance to check.
Stuart looked away naturally as if he found nothing strange. He held Edie’s waist with his hands tightly and said in a warm voice, "If you want to co here again, tell . I would co here with you. Besides, you haven’t recovered, you should wear more clothes before coming here. Otherwise, you might get sicker. I would be more worried about you. Don’t do this again, okay?"
"Okay, I promise. You look more and more like a housekeeper. What do you make for breakfast?"
"Cheese pasta and fruit salad," he said in an indifferent voice and left with Edie. At the sa ti, he took a glimpse at the door of the roof and looked away imdiately, as if nothing ever happened.
They returned back to their bedroom. The breakfast was ready.
Edie sat down. Stuart said he needed to pour a glass of hot milk in the kitchen. Then he left.
Edie followed him.
Stuart entered the kitchen. Then he took his mobile phone out. He wanted to make a call.
He had a mobile phone here. Why did Julia allow him to have a call? With a mobile phone, Stuart could call the police imdiately to ask for help at any ti. Why did Stuart have a mobile phone?
At the mont, Edie had no enough ti to think about this. She had to find a way to protect Ghost.
As expected, Stuart said on the phone, "Take strict precautions. Soone might..."
Edie showed up in ti, "Stuart, I want to drink so water."
Hearing Edie’s voice, Stuart imdiately took the mobile phone into his pocket.
Edie pretended that she saw nothing. She looked towards Stuart confusingly.
"I would pour a glass of water for you."
At the mont, Edie had a feeling.
Both knew sothing. But no one was honest. Both were lying to the other one.
This feeling was so bad. Edie didn’t like that.
Edie knew Stuart hid sothing from her for her good. Therefore, she decided to pretend that she knew nothing. Because she loved him deeply, she chose to be deaf and blind in front of him. She chose to deceive herself.
As long as...
Stuart would not leave her. No matter he was bad or good, no matter what kind of guy he was, Edie didn’t care.
She loved him deeply. She devoted herself to him. She didn’t care about anything as long as he stayed with her.
They went back to their bedroom. To ease the atmosphere, Stuart tried to tell several jokes to make her happy, though those jokes were all boring.
Edie still laughed out.
Stuart wanted her to laugh. He wanted her to be happy. That was enough for her.
She could deceive herself. It was not a bad choice for her now.
As ti went by, it was dark outside. Edie looked out of the window, staring at the night landscape and more and more guards standing at the door.
The cold wind blew into the room. But Edie still stood there, as if she could not feel the coldness at all.
Compared with the coldness of the wind, she felt much colder at the bottom of her heart.
She spent the whole day thinking. She suddenly realized maybe Stuart could only spend five days with her.
What would happen after five days? Edie had no idea.
Five days...
Quite a short ti.
At the mont, she heard the sound of the step.
Unique tone. It was Stuart.
"What did you open the window for?"
Stuart imdiately walked to her. He wanted to close the window. But unexpectedly, Edie suddenly hugged him tightly and said in a slight voice, "Don’t move. Let hug you for a mont. I am afraid I might lose you forever after several days."
"Why do you know this?" hearing Edie’s words, Stuart trembled slightly. He asked in a low and depressed voice.
"I know nothing. I don’t know your plan. But I know you want to protect , right? Your plan is so dangerous. It might kill either of us, right?"
Edie gathered all her courage and said these words out. Tears poured down from her eyes, wetting Stuart’s back.
