"I could not get married."
Scarlet gathered all courage to say these words out.
After she told everything to Edie, Edie’s face turned pale.
Edie didn’t expect that such a terrible thing happened to her best friend.
No wonder Scarlet never wanted to get married. No wonder Scarlet always spoke daggers to others, especially to her boyfriend.
It was because of such a terrible thing.
"If I want to try a test- tube baby, I should get married. But my physical condition didn’t allow to do this. I am afraid. I am hesitating. I am afraid the marriage might beco the chain on Jason. If we get married, he would never be able to get rid of . Edie, what should I do now?"
"Couldn’t you tell Jason?"
"No...I could not tell him. I only tell you. Don’t tell anyone else, including your husband."
"Why?"
Hearing Edie’s words, Scarlet placed her hands on Edie’s belly that was perceiving a baby, "How do you feel after getting this baby?"
Scarlet suddenly changed the topic.
Edie got confused, but she still answered the question, "I am so worried. I should think about it three tis before I do anything. Before I co out today, I spent a long ti persuading Stuart to allow to co here."
"Indeed. You all held the hope. You all worry. But you’ve had one daughter. If you lose this baby, you would not feel so painful.
"Every ti I go to check my body in the hospital, I get a disappointing answer. I couldn’t let Jason suffer from this with . I don’t want to let him down. I want to digest this alone. I don’t want him to be desperate in his marriage,"
"Edie, I want to hold a wedding with Jason. But I would not register the marriage with him. I want to invite several friends to my wedding. I don’t want to tell lots of people. I want to keep it simple, like an engagent party. I know he wants to hold a wedding with . I want to realize his dream,"
Looking at the facial expression of Scarlet, Edie knew she’d thought about this before.
"Okay. I would arrange everything. All you need to do is to be a bride," Edie imdiately said. She didn’t know what else to do for Scarlet.
"Okay, thank you very much. I feel much better after telling you this."
"I wish you luck. Even I can get pregnant. I believe you can." Edie tried to encourage her.
"Thank you, Edie."
After telling Edie the secret she’s hiding for such a long ti, Scarlet felt much better. After sending Edie into her car, she turned around and returned back to her office.
Donald asked her to discuss the the for the next quarter. He saw the smile at the corner of her mouth. It seed that she couldn’t control it.
"Make peace?"
"Yes. Is it obvious?" she couldn’t help herself smiling happily every ti she ntioned Jason. Of course, it was really obvious.
"As long as I am not blind, I would see that."
Scarlet kept smiling.
"I am glad that you could make peace with each other. If you get married to him, I would definitely prepare a big present for you,"
"I am looking forward to it."
Hearing her answer, Donald raised his eyebrows. He thought Scarlet really changed. She even started thinking about getting married.
It was great. They finally made it. As their friend, Donald was really happy for them.
At the mont, Donald’s mobile phone rang. He knew it was his wife, Joanna. She just sent their son to his school.
He imdiately made a gesture to tell Scarlet to stop.
"Edie, have you been ho?"
"No. Not yet. The teacher praised our son today. Our son is so brave. He stood out to protect a girl when others tried to bully her."
"Because he had a good mother. Go out for dinner tonight?"
"Great. I would pick up our son tonight."
"No. Just two of us. I don’t want to be bothered by anyone. Just ask our babysitter to pick him up, okay." Donald said and smiled. At the mont, he was no longer a strict boss. Instead, he beca a standard good husband,
"Great. Dinner just for two of us," hearing his words, Joanna sounded so happy.
After hanging up the phone, the smile at the corner of Donald’s mouth beca warr. Apparently, he loved his wife.
"Wow. I am so jealous. You look like a happy couple," Scarlet said sincerely.
"Really? Do you really think so?" hearing Scarlet’s words, the smile on Donald’s face gradually beca bitter. Finally, the smile disappeared from his face.
Scarlet was a little confused. She didn’t believe what she saw. But after taking a close look, she was sure of what she saw just now.
Donald said, "You can leave to prepare now."
"Okay." Scarlet turned around and left
He was left alone in his own office. When there was no one around him, he could finally be himself. He didn’t need to disguise himself anymore. He raised a bitter smile at the bottom of his smile.
All happiness required a certain cost. No pain, no gain.
He was paying for what he’s done before.

At night, after driving back ho with Scarlet, they didn’t want to cook. Therefore, they decided to enjoy the dinner in the noodle restaurant nearby.
They sat on the opposite side with each other, enjoying the noodles happily.
After enjoying the dinner, they held each other’s hands, walking towards ho. The stars shone in the night sky. They could hear the sound of their heart beating. They felt so happy.
When they returned back to their residential zone, Scarlet unexpectedly stopped her step. Staring at the woman in front of her, her pupils shrunk suddenly.
Seeing this, Jason got confused. He looked towards her direction, seeing a middle-aged woman standing in the distance.
At the mont, they saw each other.
Ashley walked towards them and started talking in an exciting voice, "Scarlet, you finally arrived at ho. I’ve been waiting for you for such a long ti."
"Scarlet, she is?" Jason could guest, but he was not sure about that.
Scarlet frowned. Her voice turned cold, "I don’t know her. She has nothing to do with ."
Hearing these words, Ashley got angry on her face. She’s been a parent.
"Scarlet. How could you say this to ? I am your mother. How could you say you don’t know ? Are....are you my daughter’s boyfriend? Where do you work? How much do you earn every year? Do you have a house?"
Seeing Jason, Ashley got so excited. Her eyes shone with light.
She couldn’t help herself starting asking him all those questions she was so interested in.
Hearing her words, Scarlet imdiately dragged Jason behind and dragged him into the stairs.
Soon, they arrived at the third floor.
After entering the house, Scarlet imdiately shut the door, locking Ashley outside.
Jason looked at her.
Scarlet was trembling slightly. At the mont, her thin shoulder looked so fragile.
He knew everything now. But he didn’t say a word. He just held her tightly into her arms.
"Don’t be scared. I am here. I would be here with you all the ti."
Hearing his words, Scarlet couldn’t help herself starting sobbing. She surrounded his back with her hands tightly.
