At this mont, he was extra cautious, fearing that the gentleman would find fault again. At that ti, he hadn’t yet figured out what role this girl played in the master’s heart, whether he was planning to keep her around or pass her off to soone else for training.
The family doctor was ticulous as he treated her injuries. He tenderly examined Chenxing, performing all sorts of checks such as asuring her blood pressure and pulse, without allowing her to even move.
Then the doctor stood up and respectfully said to Gu Shaocheng, "I recomnd having a more detailed full-body examination at the hospital."
Gu Shaocheng put down his cup of tea and made a decision, "Tomorrow morning, I’ll send her to you. Make sure the checkup is thorough and bring the report directly to afterward."
"Yes."
"You may leave now."
With a wave of his hand, both the doctor and the butler left.
In the end, only the sullen Ye Chenxing and the still-seated Gu Shaocheng remained.
"Turn your head here, stop sulking, and take these two anti-inflammatory pills."
He personally poured her pills and prepared a cup of warm water for her. His tone was incredibly light, with no hint of a command, but it carried an invisible pressure that made resistance impossible.
Before she could even process it, Ye Chenxing obediently turned around and took the dication, but she stubbornly refused to look at him, keeping her eyes lowered on the carpet even after swallowing the pills.
"What gives you the right to sulk at ?"
His voice was not loud, but his words sent a chill down her spine. She noticed a shadow moving across her field of vision and when she looked up, he had already left the room.
Did he really get angry?
Chenxing was a bit scared, fearing he would take his anger out on others. She tentatively followed and tried to call out to him in a small voice, "Gu Shaocheng."
But her voice was so quiet, he probably couldn’t hear.
Yet surprisingly, he had already stopped and was looking at her with an expression of resignation, a soft aura surrounding him.
Only then did he leisurely approach her. His footsteps were light as he walked up to her and gently touched her soft cheek with his slender fingers.
His words were filled with resignation and compromise: "Fine, I’ll give in this ti, but it doesn’t set a precedent. And you need to promise that you’ll stay out of the kitchen and avoid dangerous items."
"I was just bored and looking for sothing to do." She explained, her voice full of hope, "Does this an you’re not going to fire Aunt Zhang?"
He nodded.
"And there won’t be any fines? Others who are innocent won’t get penalized, right?" She pushed her luck.
Gu Shaocheng thought: What a soft-hearted fool.
"It’s impossible not to penalize at all. We won’t fire her, but a small punishnt is necessary as a reminder."
He was establishing his authority through her, reminding others that it was due to her pleading this ti that he showed leniency. His approach combined kindness with sternness.
"Then can the punishnt be very, very light?"
Gu Shaocheng ignored her comnt about Aunt Zhang and instead took her uninjured hand in his, leading her for a walk around the courtyard as he continued to question her:
"You dropped out of school after graduating from high school last year. Your final exam grades were excellent, so why didn’t you continue to university? At your age, you should be in school, learning new things. Dropping out is such a waste."
