The Lin Quan Corporation’s elder director is celebrating his 60th birthday in the most luxurious hotel in the city.
Dazzling attire, fragrant fine wine, and elegant, slow-paced music all blend together. Ladies in traditional Japanese kimonos. This is Lin Quan Corporation’s private party, but they have also invited clients outside of the family circle, such as closely affiliated Gu Shaocheng and other businessn, along with so governnt officials.
Gu Shaocheng, wearing a pure black tuxedo, looks dignified and formidable with his sombre appearance, leaving no room for others to take him lightly. Unlike other n’s companions, Chenxing is not dressed in a Japanese kimono.
Shaocheng dislikes it. She is simply wrapped in a cheongsam, looking conspicuously attractive among a crowd of society won all wearing kimonos. She arrogantly outshines them all.
Chenxing feels sowhat uncomfortable and stays quietly by Gu Shaocheng’s side, accompanying him as he circulates around the party with a wine glass in hand, bringing gifts to the elder director of Lin Quan, and occasionally glancing at the n around her.
After half an hour of tedious socializing, Gu Shaocheng stands at the window with Chenxing in his arms, leaning against the railing, casually putting down his wine glass, and resting his head against hers.
"Are you tired? If you are, we can go ho."
Chenxing’s face, which had been sagging, suddenly lifts: "Can we really leave now? I find this so boring, and I don’t understand what they’re saying. I’d rather go back to sleep."
At that mont, a commotion begins in the banquet hall.
Gu Shaocheng, seemingly oblivious to the commotion in the banquet hall, leans over to kiss her soft lips and murmurs, "You’re really sweet, Chenxing."
"We’re so honored that Mr. Gu would grace us with his presence," a sudden unfamiliar male voice makes her heart jump.
Gu Shaocheng frowns slightly, seemingly irritated by the interruption, but it is only a montary look.
He raises his glass gracefully, his face indifferent again: "Nonsense. Today is Elder Director of Lin Quan’s birthday. How could I miss such an important feast? I wish the elder director of Lin Quan a long life and eternal prosperity." He toasts casually.
Chenxing sees a young Japanese man, extraordinarily handso in his white suit, raising his lips in a sexy smile. A girl in a kimono leans affectionately against his shoulder, a picture of a submissive little bird relying on a man.
"And who might this beautiful Eastern lady be?" The Japanese man suddenly looks at Chenxing in her cheongsam, quickly sizing her up.
Gu Shaocheng smiles, tightens his arm around her, pulling her even closer. "My wife."
He speaks in Japanese, which Chenxing doesn’t understand.
The Japanese man is evidently taken aback. In the information he received, Gu Shaocheng was listed as unmarried. But there’s nothing strange about it; it just shows his subordinates didn’t dig deep enough.
He gives that patronizing smile: "Mrs. Gu, I hope you enjoy the evening, and please pardon any shortcomings in our hospitality." The last sentence was in Chinese.
Chenxing doesn’t understand his language, but the last sentence was clear as a bell to her.
Her eyes light up, and she almost yells out, but she clamps her mouth shut the next second.
My God! What is this man saying? When did she beco Mrs. Gu? There must be so misunderstanding. Should she correct him?
However, she steals a glance at Gu Shaocheng and sees his expression hasn’t changed a bit.
