The man exchanged pleasantries with Gu Shaocheng and then turned to entertain other guests with a woman clinging to him like a bird. As soon as he left, Chenxing tugged at Gu Shaocheng’s clothes, "I think he misunderstood sothing just now. He actually called Mrs. Gu, why didn’t you correct him?"
"Did he? I didn’t notice," Gu Shaocheng replied playfully, a mischievous smile on his lips.
Chenxing blinked in confusion. "He didn’t?"
Could she have misheard?
"Apparently not! Are you imagining things because you want to be Mrs. Gu?" Gu Shaocheng flashed her a teasing smile.
Chenxing bit her lower lip in embarrassnt. "Who wants to be Mrs. Gu? I surely don’t! I suppose I must have misheard, don’t overthink it."
"You’re the one who shouldn’t overthink, I’m not," Gu Shaocheng teased, pinching her nose. His eyes held laughter but a subtle hint of loss flickered within.
About that ti, Nan Baihao walked up to Gu Shaocheng and whispered sothing to him. "Big brother, it wasn’t them."
Earlier, he had received an anonymous box filled with palm prints of those who had attacked them. He had carefully observed the reaction of the Lin Quan family and determined that they were not responsible for the attack.
"Got it," Gu Shaocheng replied, his deanor beca soft again after his initial bout of anger dissipated. He embraced Chenxing and, after politely paying their respects to the host, quietly took their leave.
anwhile, the anxiety lingered in the banquet hall. The image of the bloody palm prints from the mysterious package still imprinted in their minds, failing to dissipate.

Under the bright airport lights, Gu Shaocheng carried a sleeping Chenxing onto his private plane.
In the darkness of the night, the plane gradually ascended into the sky.
In Tokyo, Japan, the plane eventually landed beneath the dark skies.
On the outskirts of the city, in a concealed range of hills, several armored rcedes-Benz vehicles, all identical, one followed after another, disappearing into the jungle. Finally, they parked smoothly on the lawn in front of a villa tucked away in the mountains.
At first glance, the villa seed nothing extraordinary, so nobody would notice that it was actually the headquarters of a mysterious rcenary group.
"Mr. Gu, Mr. Nan, please co in," two rcenaries in white suits guided Gu Shaocheng and Nan Baihao.
Just as they stepped into the mansion, a blond-haired, green-eyed Caucasian man slowly approached them. The man, in his twenties, was tall and wore a beige cashre sweater and grey casual trousers. His deanor was graceful and he bore no resemblance to the cliché image of a rcenary leader.
"What brings you here, Shaocheng?"
"Long ti no see, Kevin." Gu Shaocheng greeted with a nod, allowing Kevin to embrace both him and Nan Baihao.
"Cough, Kevin, you’re always this enthusiastic, I can barely handle it."
