At this very mont, in Canada, a dark green military vehicle was slowly driving into the Gu residence.
The car ca to a stop.
Hair cut extrely short, Yan Fengchi swiftly jumped out of the car. He strode through the corridor, spotting his elder brother sitting in the yard sipping tea, composed and with an inwardly intense expression. His eyes raised in surprise, he paced over excitedly calling out, "Brother! Brother! Good news!"
Gu Shaocheng slightly turned his head, a brief glance passing over him, not saying a word, but simply waiting for him to continue speaking.
Who would have expected, the typically stoic Yan Fengchi, would now keep them in suspense. He sat down, pleased with himself, grabbing a handful of pistachios from the stone table, peeling and popping them into his mouth one by one.
In his mind: Calm down! Keep calming down! I don’t believe you don’t have even a sliver of curiosity!
Gu Shaocheng seed unfazed by his antics, he threw him a glance of disdain, cleared his throat, his voice lazy and dismissive, "What good news? Did the military departnt comnd you? Or have they given you a bonus?"
Yan Fengchi quickly shook his head, caught the gaze his elder brother cast his way - spit out what you’ve got or get lost! He gave a good-natured smile, "It’s good news for you. Guess what?"
"Boring." He held his teacup and took a small, composed sip of tea.
The new tea they had gotten that year seed to be to his liking. He drank it with satisfaction, a hint of sweetness beneath the light bitterness, carefully savored, leaving a lasting aftertaste.
"It’s about the woman in your heart!"
"Cough...cough..."
The mont Yan Fengchi finished speaking, he heard a bout of coughing. He laughed triumphantly, I told you, choking over tea in his excitent.
He took pleasure in Gu Shaocheng’s misfortune, who, unable to contain himself, kicked him. One single syllable, a single word, nonetheless resonated powerfully, "Speak!"
"Look at this photo." Seeing a murderous gaze from his brother, Fengchi lost the mood to tease any further. He hurriedly took out a photo from his pocket, handing it over, "I ran over here as soon as I saw this photo, brother. I haven’t even had a chance to eat."
The photo had already fallen into Gu Shaocheng’s hands. A girl wearing a radiant smile instantly drew his gaze. The second photo: So girls were dancing around a few young soldiers, amongst the dancing girls was one seen in profile – He could recognize that it was Chenxing, stepping lively to the beat. Her face was captured vividly in the photo, her smile was so sweet, her skirt swirling...
Gu Shaocheng stared blankly at the photos, until a drop of liquid fell on one of the images. He looked blankly at the sky, the sun high up. It was only then he realized he had shed a tear.
He didn’t wipe it away. His eyes stayed locked on the girl who occupied his day and night thoughts. His joy was overwhelming, he wished he could pull her right out of the photo, hold her in his arms, and kiss her fiercely.
Such urgency!
"Where is this? Where is she?" That woman, his Chenxing, his little snot...He had finally seen her again!
