This ti, Chenxing looked even worse off, her embarrassnt reaching an extre.
Thankfully, the class representative stepped in, angrily pointing at them and asking, "What do you think you’re doing?"
"Class rep, I can’t stay in such a good hotel with money earned through soone else’s body, I’d be too uncomfortable to sleep at night."
Then, the two boys looked down on Chenxing contemptuously and left.
Of course, there were a few skeptics who ca rushing from their rooms to comfort Chenxing, assuring her that they believed her, and that today’s journalists loved writing sensational stories to attract readers’ attention.
Among them were genuine sympathizers, but also those looking to curry favor.
Chenxing felt extrely distressed, how did this happen?
She had never encountered such a situation before, who leaked the news?
Despite nearly biting her lip till it bled out refusing to admit, she was indeed kept by Gu Shaocheng.
In that instant, she felt truly heartbroken.
She hadn’t intentionally courted publicity!
She had no idea why she suddenly beca so popular?
She had no idea who was damaging her reputation from behind the scenes?
She had never provoked people, why did these people who didn’t even know her, not understand the true situation at all, describe her so intolerably?
At this mont, she wished she could crawl into a hole and hide!
Chenxing hid in the bathroom, isolating herself from the class representative and a few others who had tried to comfort her and curled up behind the door: What should she do? How can she ever show her face again?
She turned on the shower, letting the rushing water mask her sobbing, and with reddened eyes, she dialed Gu Shaocheng’s number for the first ti in her life.
The call was answered quickly.
His tone was surprisingly soft once he picked up, asking, "What’s wrong?"
Those three simple words, ’what’s wrong’, broke down Chenxing’s carefully maintained composure.
With reddened eyes, fat tears stread down her face.
"I..." She barely managed to utter the word before her throat choked up, and she couldn’t utter another word.
People can be like this at tis; even when bearing the greatest injustices, they would remain strong in front of outsiders. But the mont a loved one shows concern, they would crumble as if they’d break the very next second.
Chenxing stared at the running hot water, clutching her phone; she wanted to say sothing but the words just wouldn’t co out.
She felt miserable, she had never felt this wronged before. But she had no idea how to vent her feelings, let alone bla him for anything.
At this mont, calling him was a thoughtless act, she was just too distressed and couldn’t help herself.
Gu Shaocheng was awakened from his sleep by the call.
As he blankly watched the curtains billowing in the wind, he felt sowhat bewildered. It was the first ti she had ever called him, and it was in the middle of the night, the only sound he could hear on the phone was the running water.
He couldn’t help but worry, and asked her, "Where are you?"
"I... bathroom."
She was both distressed and nervous. Hugging her knees tightly, she felt lost.
"Why aren’t you sleeping?" Gu Shaocheng turned on the light and looked at the ti. When he didn’t receive a response, he asked insistently, "Did you have a nightmare?"
"I... I want to go ho."
Chenxing covered her mouth with the back of her hand to stifle her sobs, but her choked up voice betrayed her emotional state. Gu Shaocheng’s heart tightened. Without asking what happened, he threw off his blanket, yanked on his shirt, and quickly started putting on his shoes.
