Chenxing, like a docile little animal, allowed him to soothe her, burying her head helplessly in his chest. Then she heard his gentle voice whispering comfortingly, "I’m here, don’t be afraid!"

In that mont, Chenxing’s voice choked on her rising tears.
Gu Shaocheng stroked her face; his voice was as soft as a feather brushing against her heart, "It’s okay, everything is fine. I know everything that’s happening—I’ll handle it."
Chenxing felt a semblance of warmth creep into her frigid heart, her frantic state being gradually soothed. She sniffed, nodding her head at Gu Shaocheng’s slightly flushed face, for the first ti feeling a bit unreasonable.

She grew sowhat agitated, unable to control her emotions.
Her moist eyelids briefly squeezed shut, then opened, tears slipping down her cheeks.
