Her heart felt even more aggrieved, her voice tentative:
"Are you angry?"
"Why would I be angry?" His voice was unpleasant and his face indifferent. He reached out with both hands, intending to pry her arms from around his waist, "Let go, I don’t want to talk to you now. If you want to leave, then leave. I will not stop you."
Chenxing, pushed away, stood in front of him, looking at him innocently.
His eyes beca sharper, radiating a coldness towards her.
He is obviously angry but won’t admit it, Chenxing secretly thought to herself. Okay, I’ll back off a step first. If soone is wearing such a taut expression, it’s as if unless I take a step back, he’ll leave imdiately.
Chenxing pursed her lips: "I just want your approval, not to be deaned by you."
"I never thought about leaving. Aren’t we in love?"
Tears welled up unexpectedly, and she bit down on her lip. She had been trying so hard to make money, to earn his approval, to not be looked down on by him. Was it all just a mistake in his eyes?
"I thought I was in love. Why would I leave the person that I love?"
Gu Shaocheng looked down at the woman in front of him, examining her closely, trying to understand her thoughts from her eyes.
He was montarily expressionless.
Chenxing felt distressed.
Her voice carried a hint of frustrated growl: "So this is what you think of all along? Gu Shaocheng, if I didn’t like you, why would I live with you, and why would I let you touch whenever you feel like it? Would a woman give her body to a man she doesn’t like if it wasn’t willingly?"
Upon hearing her, Gu Shaocheng’s sour mood brightened in an instant, a faint smirk tugged at his lips, but it was too fleeting for Chenxing to catch.
Chenxing felt like her feelings were being disregarded. After being together for so many days, couldn’t he feel how happy she was with him?
Her heart was sour, as if the feelings she invested in were entirely overturned and not perceived by him.
She took a deep breath, unable to hear his response, and unsure about his feelings, she fiddled with the belt of her nightgown, at a loss about what to do.
Her anxiety grew, her mind was feverish and she blurted out.
"Gu Shaocheng, I want to date you."
She wanted to date him, to enjoy the sweet, happy monts like other couples. Even though he was much older than her, she believed the man in front of her truly loved her, even if she didn’t know if it was gratitude or affection that motivated him.
But Gu Shaocheng’s face remained expressionless.
Chenxing felt unsure, not knowing whether he would scorn her or agree to date her.
It may seem absurd as he spent all his ti with her even without officially dating. But she still wanted a legitimate title.
Last ti in Liberia, he had asked her to be his girlfriend, but she refused. This ti, she was the one confessing to him.
"Will you be my boyfriend?"
He remained expressionless as ever.
"Today, I was really happy. I worked so hard to earn two hundred thousand, I was so busy with my accounts that I didn’t even have ti for lunch. I was looking forward to showing you my progress when you returned, hoping to hear you say I did great. But I never imagined that you would disappoint . Can we avoid fighting?"
