"So… you knew about this plan from the very beginning, didn't you, Wise?"

After they returned, Caesar quietly approached him.

Now that everything had co to light, Wise didn't bother hiding anything and told her the full story.

"I'm sorry for keeping it from you. At the ti, I was worried you might..."

"That's not it!" Caesar suddenly cut him off, her voice rising.

"Eh?"

Seeing that he still didn't understand, she spoke again, this ti a bit more hesitantly.

"That's not what I care about. What I want to know is… when you asked to spar, was that just to keep occupied?"

As she said that, her gaze drifted away, clearly uneasy about asking the question, yet unable to stop herself.

"Of course not. You were the one who invited , Caesar. That's all there was to it," Wise answered honestly.

He wasn't lying. And even if he had been, Caesar probably wouldn't have noticed.

Still, upon hearing the answer she wanted, she let out a quiet breath of relief. A soft smile slowly returned to her face.

"Then that's good. There are still a few days before the Tour de Inferno. Get so rest, and don't be late tomorrow."

With that, Caesar turned and left, her steps light and almost carefree.

The next morning, after Burnice woke up, she was told everything that had happened the night before. She was shocked and couldn't understand why the Overlord would make the matter public.

After all, hiding listening devices inside goods to gather information was nearly impossible to detect.

But after hearing Caesar's and Piper's explanation, she finally understood.

Kasa hadn't truly betrayed them. If they tried to clarify things later or approached the Overlord directly, the situation could easily spiral out of control.

One wrong move could even put the entire Old Oil Field in danger.

"Ah, Wise, you're here. Sorry, I need to talk to you about sothing. Can you co with for a mont?" Lucy suddenly appeared and called him aside.

The two walked a little farther away. Only after confirming that no one else was around did she speak.

"Wise, I want to talk about Caesar…"

'This can't be good,' he thought, slowing to a slight halt.

However, Lucy didn't seem to notice and continued.

"These past few days, especially since we t the Overlord, she's been acting a bit strange."

"In what way?" Wise asked cautiously.

"Caesar is usually straightforward and full of energy, but lately she's been zoning out a lot. She's even been eating less than usual."

Lucy paused, resting her hand against her chin as she thought.

"And more importantly, over the past few nights, I've seen her clutching her blanket and tossing around in bed like she's anxious about sothing."

"This..." Wise didn't know how to respond.

"At first, Burnice even panicked and told , 'Oh no, Caesar can't hear ! I called her three tis, and she didn't respond! Please go check on her!'" Lucy sighed softly.

"I feel like it has sothing to do with what happened that day, but if I ask her directly, she definitely won't tell the truth."

As she spoke, Lucy suddenly seed to recall sothing. She looked straight at Wise and quickly added, "Ahem, let make one thing clear: I don't care what's going on with her. It's just that she's the leader of the Sons of Calydon right now, and I can't let this affect everyone else. So… could I ask you to think of a solution?"

By the end, her tone had softened noticeably.

Sotis, the people involved can't see things clearly, while outsiders notice everything at a glance. And for so reason, Caesar's behavior felt strangely familiar to Wise.

"Then I'll take Caesar out for a change of scenery. Tomorrow, I plan to head back to my place in New Eridu to copy so offline data, so it should be a good chance."

Wise said it casually, but his real intention was to help Caesar clear her mind. With his current abilities, copying data would be nothing more than a minor task.

"That's not a bad idea. Caesar hasn't spent much ti in New Eridu anyway. You can take her around and let her see more."

Lucy didn't doubt him and nodded in agreent.

"Alright, I'll deal with her side. Tomorrow, have her take you there on her bike—I'll leave it to you."

With that, she turned and left without another word.

By now, her favorability had already reached 65, the level of soone considered a friend.

After settling things with Lucy, Wise headed to the open space where he usually sparred with Caesar. As expected, she was already there, waiting.

The mont she saw him, she waved with a bright smile.

"Wise, I'm already getting restless. Let's start!"

"Uh... that's not really how you use 'restless,' you know."

"Eh? Is that so? Whatever, close enough."

Caesar didn't care about such details. Complicated wording had never been her strong suit, and as long as it sounded right, that was enough.

Wise didn't argue. He stepped forward, taking his usual position across from her. After a while of sparring, once Caesar seed satisfied, they both sat down to rest.

"Caesar, I heard you've been a bit distracted lately," he said.

"Oh, that? You heard it from Lucy, didn't you?"

"Well…"

"Oh, don't worry about it. With her little sches, how could I not guess?"

She glanced at him with a faint smile. At that point, Wise gave up denying it and simply nodded.

"But how did you figure it out?" he asked.

After all, Lucy wasn't the only one who had noticed. Burnice and Piper might have as well.

"Hmph, because she suddenly ca to earlier and told to take you to New Eridu on my bike tomorrow. Then you show up and say this—I'm not stupid, you know."

Caesar spread her hands, looking completely confident in her deduction.

Wise let out a small sigh and decided not to dwell on it.

"So... will you co with tomorrow?"

'Of course I will!'

The words almost slipped out, but she stopped herself at the last mont.

Caesar pursed her lips, clearly caught off guard by how straightforward he was. Especially the way he said "co with ."

'H-He just says it like that… He said it was for work before, but now it sounds completely different. It's almost like he's asking out!'

She hesitated for a mont before finally answering.

"I… I will."

It wasn't that she didn't want to go. She simply didn't know how to respond properly.

But staying silent would have been worse, so she forced herself to say it.
