If I could, I would even shamelessly stay.
But I can’t.
Sura, after Ye Yinzhu wakes up, tell him that everything between him and me is cancelled out.
However, I’m still going to find my sister.
Everything that has happened on this journey will rot in my heart forever; I won’t tell anyone.”
Sura said somewhat excitedly, “Why won’t you cherish it?
Do you think Zi doesn’t deserve your love?
Sometimes, bystanders see things clearer than those directly involved.
I haven’t known Zi much longer than you have.
I also don’t understand him like Yin Zhu does.
He always seems so cool and reserved, rarely smiling or speaking.
But one thing he has in mon with Yin Zhu is that, when it es to emotions, these two guys are numbed, both the biggest fools.
Yet, I can tell that Zi likes you.
Because the only time his gaze changes is when he looks at you and Yin Zhu.
His look towards Yin Zhu is one of trust and affection between brothers, while his gaze towards you is of a subtle tenderness.
Maybe you’ve never noticed, but we all have.
Think about it, if he didn’t like you, with his personality, would he let you stay by his side and always be there to shield you when danger arises?”
An Qi was stunned.
Her beautiful dark green eyes emitted a bewildered glow as she stood there quietly, unable to utter a single word—her voice had long been choked up.
For over four hundred years, she had lived for more than four centuries, yet no one had ever stirred her heart, neither the handsome Elves nor the powerful Humans had ever made her emotions fluctuate.
But Zi was different; from the first glance at his broad shoulders, An Qi had fallen deeply in love with that feeling of safety during her unguarded mental split.
With each passing day, this feeling grew stronger.
Even though Zi was cold and rarely spoke, whenever she was with him, her normally icy heart would bee exceptionally calm, as if this man had taken on everything for her, leaving her nothing to worry about.
Her memory restored, the longing only became more intense, now coupled with the anxiety of loss.
It was only after she returned to the normal mindset of an Elf Queen that she realized she, too, was capable of love, and could fall in love with someone.
“Sura, don’t say anymore, let her go,” Zi said indifferently.
Sura looked at Zi, then at An Qi, who kept her head down in silence, and he sighed, “Yeah!
Why should I try to convince you guys?
Everyone has their own difficulties…” He didn’t finish his last words, but his resentful gaze quietly fell on Ye Yinzhu.
Forcefully shaking her head, An Qi gave a bitter smile, “My soul has long not belonged to me.
I’m no longer an Elf who should continue to live.
I can’t let my corruption taint you all.
Zi, I’m leaving.
I will always remember the days I spent by your side, it will be the most beautiful memory of my life.
Hey, do you know?
You’re the first man I’ve ever fallen in love with in my life.” Tears had unknowingly filled her enchanting face.
Zi quickly turned around, but what he faced were two cold lips tainted with the saltiness of tears, their light touch—a mere brush of a kiss—made Zi’s steady body shiver.
An Qi’s arms were wrapped tightly around Zi’s sturdy neck as if she wanted to pletely merge herself into him.
“I’m leaving, and I will never bee an enemy to your good brother.
Zi, forget about me…” As she rose, An Qi’s graceful figure, trailing glistening droplets, turned into a wisp of smoke and whisked into the ice forest.
“An Qi,” Zi shouted loudly, but the ethereal figure only paused slightly and still moved away.
Zi stood there, his body seemingly frozen.
Even though there was no pressure from the War Behemoth, he felt an oppressive disfort in his heart.
Sura was not wrong; when it came to matters of the heart, he and Ye Yinzhu were both fools.
If love had a flavor, what he was experiencing at the moment was the bitterness and yearning.
Was it truly that easy to forget?
The imprint of those cold lips had already been invisibly embedded in his spirit.
“Zi, aren’t you going to chase after her?” Sura said urgently.
Shaking his head, Zi sighed, “Maybe, we’re just not right for each other.
I can feel that she’s carrying a lot, but aren’t I as well?
Unless one day we both bee free of burdens, maybe…” He didn’t finish; even he felt it was too fanciful.
Sitting cross-legged on the ground, Zi forcibly calmed his emotions and entered into a state of Cultivation.
The group, most of whom had sustained various degrees of injuries, seemed to be hit hardest by the Golden Behemoth.
But only Zi knew that the most deeply wounded was actually Ye Yinzhu.
To save him, Ye Yinzhu had paid the price of half his life!
And that final performance, even Zi did not know how much Ye Yinzhu had overspent.
Inside the Ice Ring it was indeed warm; setting up tents here allowed for plete rest, and the Three Ice Pole Demon Monkeys took the guarding duty seriously without a sliver of negligence.
Dis, severely injured and unconscious, had scared them—after all, if their Boss who had received their Soul Sacrifice died, they would be finished immediately!
After three days of rest, the strong-bodied Dis and Perkins woke up one after the other, but their injuries were so severe that they couldn’t recover quickly; they had to wait until they got back to heal slowly.
Ma Liang also woke up looking somewhat desolate; he had lost a significant portion of the Six Silver Dragon Weapons, with only a little over half a bottle of the Silver Dragon’s Blood remaining—a tremendous loss for him.
Luckily, he got a Lower rank Nine Demon Beast; otherwise, he would have nowhere to cry.
Ye Yinzhu’s unconscious period was the longest, ten days—ten whole days.
When everyone except Zi was filled with worry, Ye Yinzhu finally awoke from his deep slumber.
The tent was warm because it was burning the fat of the seals that the Polar Ice Demon Ape had caught in the icy sea.
As soon as Ye Yinzhu awoke, he smelled a faint fragrance wafting to his nose.
His body moved slightly, and he could clearly feel that he was resting on a soft and elastic body.
Taking a deep breath and steadying his mind, he grimaced as he found that both his spiritual power and Douqi had been depleted, and even the “Shan” and “Lei” in his arms were in a deep slumber.
Recalling everything that had happened that day, he couldn’t help but find it amusing—thinking to himself that even the existence of a rank Ten Demon Beast had its fears.
Glacis, so brave and fierce, had ultimately been frightened into submission by him.
But even so, his own side had paid a huge price.
He wondered how Zi was doing and hoped he was alright.
Ye Yinzhu didn’t move, not because he didn’t want to, but because he didn’t have the slightest bit of strength.
It seemed as if something had left his body, and yet, it felt as though he had gained something too.
In his current condition, however, it was indistinct.
Looking around, he realized he was in a tent, and the familiar faint fragrance had already told him whose body he was resting on.
“Haiyang.” Ye Yinzhu softly called, only to startle himself with the raspiness of his own voice.
“Ah!
Yin Zhu, you’re awake.” Haiyang was startled by the sudden voice.
For the past ten days, she had lost a considerable amount of weight as she stayed by Ye Yinzhu’s side, caring for him, anxiously waiting and burning with worry.
She had just fallen asleep due to exhaustion.
Haiyang was finally relieved of all her fatigue when Ye Yinzhu woke up.
She carefully touched his forehead and asked, “Yin Zhu, how are you feeling?
Are you unfortable anywhere?”
Ye Yinzhu managed a weak smile and said, “I’m fine, just drained.
I’ll recover after some time.
Help me sit up, please.”
With Haiyang’s careful assistance, Ye Yinzhu sat up and leaned against her.
The soft warmth at his back made his heart flutter.
He was no longer the naive boy who would ask a girl why her chest muscles were so developed.
“Haiyang, thank you for your hard work.
Is everyone else alright?”
Haiyang gave a slight smile, wrapped one arm around Ye Yinzhu, and gently bed his hair with the other hand, “They’re alright, at least they’re all alive.
Dis and Perkins are more seriously injured.
Sura, after overexerting herself that day, has been steadfastly watching over you.
A few days ago, she finally collapsed from the strain and is now cultivating to adjust herself.
Ma Liang has lost the Five Silver Dragon Weapons and is feeling a bit downhearted; he and Chang Hao both feel inadequate in their strength.
Aside from visits to see you, they have spent most of these days cultivating in their tents.”
“What about Zi and An Qi?” Ye Yinzhu couldn’t help but ask.
Haiyang hesitated for a moment before recounting the events after An Qi had recovered her memory that day.
Ye Yinzhu sighed, “It seems Zi really does like her.
If possible, I will definitely help Zi achieve his wish in the future.
But it’s all good, as long as everyone is alive, there’s hope for everything.”
“Yin Zhu, you’ve just woken up, so you should talk less.” The tent flap was lifted, and Zi’s tall figure bent down to enter.
He and Ye Yinzhu had a soul bond through their equal life-pact, and he felt immediately when Ye Yinzhu awoke, prompting him to e at once.
The small tent felt crowded with Zi’s entrance.
Haiyang quickly scooted back, pulling Ye Yinzhu closer to herself, and adjusted the blanket over him.
Their current situation was quite ambiguous—sharing a bed, even if it was inside a tent.
