Now reading: Chapter 94 Chapter 24 Artefact Within the Zither Part 2_1 from Zither Emperor, a Xuanhuan novel by Tang Jia San Shao.

94: Chapter 24: Artefact Within the Zither (Part 2)_1 94: Chapter 24: Artefact Within the Zither (Part 2)_1 Although their contact was fleeting, the chill that surged through Ye Yinzhu had still left him quaking.

The dagger she held was as frigid as death itself.

Could it be that the Amethyst Great Sword was repelling it?

When he looked over at it, he sensed a superior, dominating presence as though it ruled over everything.

There was no doubt, it ruled all.

“Yin Zhu, what’s wrong?” Ma Liang and Nesta rushed to his side simultaneously.

Ye Yinzhu explained what had occurred, leaving both of them in awe.

Ma Liang responded, “This dagger is excellent; I am rather fond of it.

Pity that I am not a Samurai.

As for the great sword, it’s of no use to me.

How useful can it be, regardless of its capabilities, if it can’t be wielded?

Yin Zhu, you need to think hard about your choice.”

Ye Yinzhu winked and replied, “I’ve made my choice, and I don’t intend to change it.

No matter what, I really like it.

Now it’s your turn to choose.

The dagger and the great sword are mine.

Nesta wouldn’t use a dagger, based on his character, isn’t that right?”

Nesta laughed heartily, “You really understand me.

I’ve chosen my prize.

It’s over there.

I’ll put it on for you guys to see.” After he finished speaking, he raced off enthusiastically.

Ma Liang continued his hunt for treasure, while Ye Yinzhu began wandering around the Treasure Hall.

Time ticked by swiftly, and before he knew it, their one-hour time limit was nearly up.

Yet, Ye Yinzhu was still one item short.

He had scoured the entire Treasure Hall but didn’t find any ancient zithers.

What was worse, after seeing the Black Dagger and the Amethyst Great Sword, all other magic items, weapons, and armors paled in parison.

None of them ignited any form of interest in Ye Yinzhu.

“There are so many great items here, such a shame we can only choose two.

Yin Zhu, have you made your choices yet?” Ma Liang asked, once he approached Ye Yinzhu.

“Not yet, I am still one short.

There doesn’t seem to be any ancient zithers that I want.”

Ma Liang mented, “Maybe you just missed them.

There seems to be a lot of stuff here.

I even spotted some other musical instruments earlier.

What are the odds that there are no ancient zithers?

Does your Zither Sect not teach you any particular techniques to find zithers?”

Upon hearing this, Ye Yinzhu’s eyes lit up.

He had indeed forgotten about that method!

As he considered this, he immediately retrieved the Haiyue Qinhui Zither from his Space Ring, nestled it against his chest, and gently stroked its strings.

A faint yellow magic power began to gather around his right fingers.

As they skimmed over the strings, a deep humming sound filled the air.

The Treasure Hall was a closed space, and the sound of the Zither echoed around.

As soon as the sound rang out, Ye Yinzhu pressed his right hand onto the strings, terminating the resonance while he listened intently, his focus unwavering.

The zither’s notes reverberated tersely to his ear, echoing within the Treasure Hall and directing Ye Yinzhu to a distinct area.

According to what Qin Shang had taught him during his Zither lessons, excellent ancient zithers were capable of resonating when they heard sounds from other ancient zithers.

All Divine Music Masters could hear these resonating harmonies.

This time, while the Haiyue Qinhui was resonating, he indeed heard a similar resonance ing from a corner of the Treasure Hall.

The resonance was crystal clear and unlike the usual deep hum of most ancient zithers.

But Ye Yinzhu had confidence that he wasn’t mishearing things.

A zheng and a pipa might also be stringed instruments, but their music was of a more metallic grating kind, missing the ancient zither’s prolonged softness.

What kind of ancient zither could it be?

Guided by the notes of his zither, Ye Yinzhu quickly arrived at a corner of the Treasure Hall.

Out of curiosity, Ma Liang followed behind.

This was another treasure-case, filled to the brim with all kinds of magic items.

Their soft lights permeated the area, but there was no zither among them.

Returning the Haiyue Qinhui to his Space Ring, Ye Yinzhu focused on the direction from where the clear resonance was emanating and drew closer, using his magic power to amplify his hearing.

At last, he located the exact position of the resonance.

Surprisingly, it was a ring—an unadorned yellow jade ring, which emitted no shine.

But the hum of a zither was unmistakably emanating from it.

This was a Space Ring, and Ye Yinzhu promptly identified the ring’s properties.

Simultaneously, he was taken aback.

Despite the soundproofing properties of the Space Ring, he still heard the resonance.

What kind of ancient zither could it be!

He found this hard to believe.

Be it the Zither Sect’s Five Ancient Zithers he had lost, or the current Haiyue Qinhui, none of them made nary a sound when kept in his Space Ring.

But this ancient zither was different.

This indicated one thing: the ancient zither hidden inside the ring was inparable to any other zither Ye Yinzhu had ever seen before.

He picked up the ring and attempted to reach out to it with his spiritual power.

Usually, as long as a Space Ring was unowned, it wouldn’t have any spiritual imprint, and any Mage could municate with it using their spiritual power and retrieve items within the ring.

Of course, any Space Ring that didn’t hold a spiritual imprint of a Mage wouldn’t hold valuable possessions.

However, the Space Ring before him was an odd case.

Ye Yinzhu’s ring easily located his target, and with a connection and prompt from his spiritual power, a flash of light revealed an ancient zither within his hands.

The zither was a solid shade of orange, its design an antique; its transparent, crystalline seven strings, spun of an unknown substance, were enveloped in a soft orange halo.

One could almost sense its melancholy emanating from the glow, carrying a mournful hum that was akin to a sobbing lament, a faint chant.

It had not been officially strummed, yet its sonorous lucidity was intoxicating, immediately inducing a trance state and making one forget oneself.

One hand under the zither and the other lightly skimming along it, Ye Yinzhu was in plete awe; his eyes filled with a tender softness.

His current state was one of plete mesmerization.

Standing behind him, Ma Liang didn’t disturb him.

Although he didn’t understand much about zithers, he recognized that the current Ye Yinzhu was lost in a special realm, led there by this peculiar ancient zither.

The spirited emotion of the zither was something he had never felt before, not from any weapon, armor, or any other magical item!

Generally, magical items were often graded as Ordinary, Finest Instrument, Spiritual Artifact, Soul Device, and Divine Artifact.

Among these, Soul Devices and Divine Artifacts were chiefly marked by their ability to express emotions, an impression that was largely due to the existence of a spirit within.

Like the Silver Dragon Six Weapons, a prime characteristic of a Soul Device, they bore the noble and eminent spirit of a Silver Dragon.

The emotions expressed by the orange ancient zither he now beheld were the most potent he had ever witnessed among all artifacts, and even his own Silver Dragon Six Weapons couldn’t pete.

Although he didn’t know what it meant, he was certain that Ye Yinzhu had found real treasure.

Just as Ma Liang had imagined, Ye Yinzhu, at that moment, was entirely engrossed in another realm.

His mind was entirely filled with an orange space.

Everything around him was gone, with only the orange zither humming its gentle song.
