Felix immediately understood the meaning behind her gaze.
If he remained silent, Annie probably wouldn’t even give him a chance to explain later.
He let out a long sigh. Then he honestly explained everything from beginning to end.
The more Annie listened, the deeper her frown became.
When he finally finished, she looked at him speechlessly. “I’ve met plenty of foolish people before.”
She shook her head. “But I’ve never met anyone as foolish as you.”
Felix immediately pouted. His expression looked almost wronged. “What else was I supposed to do?”
He sighed helplessly.
“If I hadn’t agreed to her request, she would’ve continued bothering us.”
He looked gently at Annie. “I didn’t want you to feel unfortable.”
Hearing those sincere words, Annie forced a small smile.
However, that smile didn’t last long. Her expression gradually turned serious. She quietly walked closer before softly saying,
“Felix, if something like this ever happens again, please tell me beforehand.”
She slowly lowered her gaze. “I don’t ever want to experience something like being cheated on.”
Her voice became softer. “And don’t ever show favouritism toward another woman.”
She took a slow breath. “I wouldn’t be able to bear it.”
Felix’s expression instantly became equally solemn. He gently held her hands. “Annie. I’m not that kind of man.”
He squeezed her hands lightly.
“Please, believe me.”
Annie quietly stared at him for several moments. Finally, she nodded. “Alright.”
A faint smile returned to her face. “For now, I believe you.”
Just then, she suddenly remembered something. “Oh, right.”
She looked at Felix again. “My colleague Vincent is holding a birthday party in a 2 weeks later. He invited me.”
She smiled.
“So, would you like to e with me?”
The moment Vincent’s name was mentioned, a trace of concern appeared in Felix’s eyes.
He frowned slightly. “Vincent, Isn’t he the same guy who’s been trying to flirt with you?”
Annie immediately frowned. “What do you mean ‘trying to flirt ambiguously’?”
She looked at him seriously. “I’ve already made everything perfectly clear to him. I don’t like him. I’ve never encouraged him. And I’ve never intentionally gotten close to him.”
Felix sighed softly. “I’m not talking about you.”
His gaze became thoughtful. “I just have a strange feeling about him. I think he genuinely likes you.”
The moment those words left his mouth, Annie burst into laughter.
She laughed so hard that tears gradually gathered at the corners of her eyes. After a long while, she finally managed to calm herself down.
“You’re seriously overthinking this.”
She smiled helplessly. “Trust me. Vincent isn’t that kind of man.”
She waved dismissively.
“He loves playing around. He changes girlfriends as often as people change shirts. You’ve never seen it.”
Her tone became amused. “He goes through relationships faster than anyone I’ve ever met.”
She smiled confidently. “So the idea that someone like him would seriously fall for me, is honestly a huge misunderstanding.”
With those words, Annie turned around and entered the room. This time, Felix didn’t stop her.
Instead, he quietly remained standing where he was. The concern inside his heart refused to disappear.
It wasn’t because Annie had lied. He trusted her pletely.
Rather, his instincts had been quietly observing Vincent for a very long time.
He had carefully noticed every interaction Vincent had with his previous girlfriends.
Although Annie had never realised it, largely because she had absolutely no interest in Vincent, Felix had sensed subtle patterns in the man’s behaviour.
Those instincts continued whispering the same warning inside his mind.
‘Something about Vincent, isn’t as simple as it appears.’
Meanwhile, when Gwen reported Felix’s name at the reception desk, the receptionist immediately recognised it.
Several people had already called earlier claiming they are connected to Felix, making the name impossible to ignore.
Not wanting to make a mistake, she quickly picked up the phone and called Felix to confirm.
The moment Felix confirmed Gwen’s identity, the receptionist’s attitude changed pletely.
Her previously professional smile became warm and enthusiastic.
“Miss Gwen, please e with me,” she said politely, stepping out from behind the desk.
She personally escorted Gwen inside instead of asking another employee to do it.
During the interview, the hiring process was astonishingly smooth.
When it came time to discuss pensation, the salary offered to Gwen was significantly higher than what the pany usually offered new employees.
A delighted grin spread across Gwen’s face when she saw the employment contract.

She almost wanted to run straight to Felix and brag in front of him.

A smug smile tugged at the corners of her lips. ‘But… is he even worth that much money?’
The thought amused her, making her chuckle softly to herself.

Without realising it, both the assistant manager and the department manager developed an increasingly favourable impression of Gwen.
In less than three weeks after joining the pany, she had firmly established herself within the department.

On the surface, Gwen became increasingly polite and respectful toward everyone.

Her eyes sparkled with admiration. “Before we begin… could I please have your autograph?”
