The wall of fire was approaching rapidly, and Zhang Lingyu could feel its destructive power. She quickly jumped backward, creating a safe distance. When the fire wall extinguished, Xiao Manxuan was revealed behind it.
At this mont, Xiao Manxuan’s hair was completely red, and her face was expressionless. Around her, there were no skeletons left, only scorched earth. The Miss was not far away, leaning on her sword, panting heavily, clearly exhausted and unable to fight.
"Are you Zhang Lingyu? Stop Xuanxuan quickly, her energy is already out of control." The Miss shouted weakly, having no ti to wonder how Zhang Lingyu appeared on the battlefield.
Zhang Lingyu nodded, taking out another talisman from her bosom, but this one was different from the previous ones. Surprisingly, it was semi-transparent, resembling a card the size of a tarot card, with a vermilion talisman embedded within.
She was about to chant when the Miss asked, "Lingyu, have you seen Lin Tian?"
Her hand, originally holding the talisman up, slowly lowered, and a sorrowful expression appeared on Zhang Lingyu’s face. She whispered, "Lin Tian... might be... dead..."
It took her several broken sentences to say it all. The scene of Lin Tian falling and the ground stained with blood replayed in her mind, leaving her heart feeling empty.
With a clang, the sword in the Miss’s hand fell to the ground, raising a cloud of gray ash. Her face turned pale instantly, as if her heart had stopped beating, deprived of blood’s nourishnt.
"Lin Tian... dead? How is that possible? Wasn’t he invincible? He never suffered a loss..." The Miss knelt on the ground, murmuring to herself, tears silently streaming from her eyes, her face ashen.
Xiao Manxuan seed to understand. Her steps, originally directed to attack the skeletons, ca to a halt. She turned back to Zhang Lingyu, and in her cold eyes flashed a heartbreaking sadness: "You said Lin Tian is dead? Where is he? Who killed him?"
She seed a bit disoriented, forgetting that Lin Tian was within the barrier, even finding Zhang Lingyu’s appearance fuzzy.
Zhang Lingyu instinctively pointed towards the distant abandoned factory, but before she could recover her composure, Xiao Manxuan had already moved. From an aerial view, a fiery red shadow dashed swiftly in a straight line toward the barrier. No skeletons could block her path. The dense array of skeletons was easily breached by Xiao Manxuan.
The Miss, snapping out of her sorrow, anxiously said to Zhang Lingyu, "Quick, follow her; Xuanxuan will go mad."
Zhang Lingyu understood the gravity of the situation. With Lin Tian’s life or death uncertain, she couldn’t let anything happen to Xiao Manxuan. Zhang Lingyu put away the card talisman, shouldered the Miss, and rushed toward the barrier.
Though slender and graceful, she moved swiftly with the Miss on her back. While the Miss wasn’t exactly heavy, carrying an adult at such a speed was remarkable; her strength was comparable to that of an Ancient Martial Artist.
Although her speed was fast enough, it couldn’t match the demonized Xiao Manxuan. By the ti she reached the outskirts of the blood-colored barrier, Xiao Manxuan was already striking the barrier with force.
The barrier blocked her path, and every strike released fiery red flas, seemingly trying to burn a hole through the barrier.
"I can feel that Xuanxuan’s energy is even more chaotic. It’s a pity I’ve exhausted my True Qi; otherwise, using Sword Qi to strike an acupuncture point might have knocked her out. Now, I have no way to stop her," the Miss said anxiously.
"I’ll give it a try." Zhang Lingyu’s expression was heavy, then she approached Xiao Manxuan cautiously, saying, "Xuanxuan, it’s Sister Yu, wake up..."
As she spoke, she tried to reach out to touch Xiao Manxuan, but as her hand neared Xiao Manxuan’s hair, a burning pain surged up. Around Xiao Manxuan, an energy field like intense flas seed ready to incinerate anything that approached.
Zhang Lingyu was shocked; even wearing the Heavenly Master robe, she could still be burned by the heat from Xiao Manxuan. What kind of fla was this? Strangely, such violent flas hadn’t burned Xiao Manxuan’s clothing.
With a thunderous boom, Xiao Manxuan struck the blood-colored barrier once again. The barrier flickered, seemingly ready to collapse at any mont, yet as soon as black mist erged from the ground, the barrier imdiately stabilized.
Supported by the ancient battleground’s Evil Qi, the formation laid down by Charlotte was nearly invincible and unbreakable unless soone’s power was able to counter the barrier or surpass the barrier’s capacity to withstand attacks.
Breaking the barrier with a single strike, leaving no opportunity for recovery, might be the only way to crack the blood-colored barrier.
Xiao Manxuan did not give up; instead, she attacked more violently. With every strike, her body’s temperature increased, now far beyond human tolerance, even surpassing that of an Ancient Martial Artist.
Yet there were no signs of Xiao Manxuan being burned to ashes, though it was uncertain when the energy might exceed the limits her body could withstand.
"I can only try the freezing talisman; Xuanxuan’s flas are too strong," Zhang Lingyu said worriedly, once more taking out the semi-transparent card talisman.
She ford a hand seal, preparing to chant, but the battlefield environnt suddenly changed, interrupting her spell. A massive amount of black mist erged at this point, reaching a point where it was impossible to see one’s hand in front of them, like a foggy day, except the fog was black.
With the sudden change, even Xiao Manxuan stopped her assault. Zhang Lingyu helped the Miss move closer to Xiao Manxuan. The situation was unclear, and no one knew what would happen next. Only by bringing people together could she provide tily assistance in case of danger.
She couldn’t let the Xiao sisters be hard, not only because she and Xiao Manxuan were good friends and close confidantes but also due to Lin Tian’s instructions, which perhaps now could be considered a last wish. No matter what, she intended to fulfill what Lin Tian entrusted her with.
As for Lin Tian being a zombie, Zhang Lingyu didn’t want to think about it at the mont, nor did she dare to. She had always been firm in slaying demons and eliminating evil, yet she seed to waver when it ca to Lin Tian.
"Such dense Evil Qi, though thousands of years have passed on this ancient battlefield, it hasn’t dissipated in the slightest. Truly, as Charlotte claid, wars in this area haven’t stopped for thousands of years, and the accumulated Evil Qi is profound," Zhang Lingyu lanted; the Evil Qi here exceeded her imagination.
"I can feel all this Evil Qi flowing into the barrier, albeit slowly, but the direction is unmistakable. Could sothing be happening inside? Or is Charlotte strengthening the barrier? Why is she reinforcing the barrier? Could it be to deal with soone?" the Miss speculated with doubt.
She exchanged a glance with Zhang Lingyu, and both won thought of the sa thing: Charlotte strengthening the barrier to deal with Lin Tian. But they imdiately dismissed the idea, since Zhang Lingyu had said Lin Tian might already be dead.
Just as they were lost in thought due to the movent of the Evil Qi, the speed at which the Evil Qi gathered suddenly increased, visibly flowing into the barrier. It felt as though there was a Taotie lurking inside, devouring the Evil Qi. The once dense Evil Qi outside the barrier was being siphoned until it beca thin.
