"Where’s the blood scent? I don’t sll anything. Maybe it’s chicken or duck blood or sothing like that; after all, there are all kinds of strange dicines in the world—who can fully understand them?" Zhou Botong said, not too concerned.
Lin Tian waved his hand and said solemnly, "None of those, it’s the sll of human blood!"
"Human blood?" Zhou Botong was startled and disbelieving, "How could it be human blood? That potion was personally delivered by Qi Dapeng. Would he treat his own son like that? Clearly impossible!"
"Don’t forget, this is the life-extending potion given to Mr. Qi by the Japanese. Even Qi Dapeng doesn’t understand what it is. Not to ntion human blood, if arsenic were added, his son would still have to drink it!" Lin Tian replied.
"That’s true, but using human blood in dicine is just too damn bizarre," Zhou Botong shook his head, showing his inability to comprehend.
"Blood as a catalyst, huh? Let’s not worry about it for now; let’s get out of here." Lin Tian said, and with one hand, he picked up Zhou Botong and leaped out of the Qi Family estate.
When they reached the outside of the villa district, they jumped over the periter wall. This infiltration had been quite fruitful. Lin Tian’s task now was to figure out what was inhabiting Mr. Qi’s brain.
He had planned to send Zhou Botong back to his family, but the latter was adamantly against the idea, saying it was rare for him to get out. With no other choice, Lin Tian dropped him off halfway, leaving him free to do as he pleased.
After parting with Zhou Botong, Lin Tian thought it best to give Xiao Manxue a call. Being an Ancient Martial Artist, she had seen many weird things; she might know what the parasite was.
The call was quickly connected, and a pleasant female voice ca from the other end.
"Hello, this is Secretary Xu. President Xiao is in a eting. Is there sothing Mr. Lin would like to inform President Xiao about? Do you need to relay a ssage imdiately?"
Not the Miss? Lin Tian was startled upon hearing Secretary Xu’s voice. The Miss was indeed busy, still in a eting at this ti. Could it be because of the jewelry store and the dicine recipe?
If she was in a eting, it would not be good to disturb her, but Lin Tian rembered there was a reasonably large library in the Xiao Group Building. Perhaps there, they could find information about parasites.
"Secretary Xu, no need to inform the Miss. I’ll be coming to your headquarters’ library later, so could you arrange for soone to et at the entrance? Otherwise, I won’t be able to get in," Lin Tian said.
"Of course, no problem," Secretary Xu agreed.
Having a secretary really made things easier; they could handle tasks for you. Do I also need to hire a personal secretary, thought Lin Tian, and it surely would be nice to have a beautiful secretary by my side. He chuckled self-deprecatingly at his own fantasy; after all, he was just a student, and soone else’s bodyguard at that, then he drove toward the Xiao Group Building.
True to her word, soone was waiting outside the Xiao Group headquarters by the ti Lin Tian arrived. He parked the car and approached; it wasn’t anyone else but Secretary Xu.
Secretary Xu was still in her uniform, dressed in a white blouse, black skirt, black stockings, and her hair ticulously pinned up, revealing her fair neck, a look both sexy and capable.
Because Secretary Xu’s long hair was pinned up, her neck looked especially slender. Lin Tian also noticed the jewelry hanging around her neck: it was a jade and erald pendant, extrely delicate. Lin Tian instantly recognized the origin of this erald pendant—it was the ’Lotus Seed’ erald he had given Secretary Xu at the last Zhonghai City Gambling Stone Festival.
The pendant was light green and elegant, with exquisite craftsmanship, which when contrasted against Secretary Xu’s fair skin, looked elegant and beautiful. Fine jade always adds to a woman’s beauty.
Secretary Xu, seeing Lin Tian staring at her, couldn’t help but blush. Working with the Miss, she had seen countless outstanding n and had not a few admirers, yet she managed to stay composed. But facing Lin Tian, she always felt an inexplicable lack of confidence and composure.
Perhaps as President Xiao said, he was too good at deceiving girls, and he was just too outstanding, which was the only explanation she could co up with.
"Secretary Xu, that pendant really suits you," Lin Tian said earnestly.
"Thank you." Secretary Xu appreciated Lin Tian’s complint, but a hint of disappointnt flashed in her eyes. Was the pendant the only thing that looked good?
As Lin Tian walked forward, he suddenly teased, "Secretary Xu, I’m quite envious of your pendant too, being a pendant wouldn’t be so bad."
Secretary Xu was taken aback, glanced down at her pendant, and then back up at Lin Tian’s gaze. She soon realized she had been flirted with by Lin Tian.
When she looked up again, Lin Tian had already walked a good distance toward the main entrance. Secretary Xu quickly hid her embarrassnt and hastened to catch up.
During the elevator ride, Secretary Xu felt tense for the first ti while alone with a man.
She had to break the silence, "Mr. Lin, our library is divided into two areas, the public zone and the restricted area. I’ll take you to the restricted area."
The restricted area should be accessible only with certain authority, right? Secretary Xu can just take in? Lin Tian looked at her curiously.
Secretary Xu, feeling sowhat uneasy under his gaze, couldn’t help but explain, "This was instructed by President Xiao. She said that if Mr. Lin cos to the headquarters, you automatically have the sa level of access as the group president, allowing you to move about freely."
Presidential level access, Miss trusts so much, isn’t she afraid that I’m here to probe the company’s business secrets? It seems this little girl isn’t as cold towards as she seems on the surface, Lin Tian thought joyfully. However, he still greatly admired Miss’s boldness.
But Lin Tian knew that this presidential authority was only for access throughout the headquarters and did not include administrative power. Of course, it also did not grant permission to enter the underground laboratory center, as non-related personnel, even Xiao Manxuan, were not allowed into the research center.
Taking the elevator to the ninth floor, and after another corridor, they reached the headquarters’ library. Before entering, non-group employees had to register for a pass at the managent desk outside. With this pass, they could freely borrow books from inside.
The administrator, a lovely woman, politely asked Secretary Xu, "Hello, Secretary Xu! Are you here to make a pass for this gentleman? What level of access shall I set?"
"Presidential level," Secretary Xu answered succinctly.
The administrator was shocked, doubting her own ears, thinking Secretary Xu had misspoken, so she confird again, "What level of access should I set?"
"Presidential level!" Secretary Xu, thinking her voice had been too soft and the administrator hadn’t heard her, raised her voice and repeated.
At the library entrance, many employees were coming and going, and quite a few were processing borrowing and returning books. Hearing Secretary Xu’s response, all eyes focused on Lin Tian, and the administrators at the front desk, also lovely won, stopped their work to look at him.
"Who is this handso guy? He doesn’t seem to be a group employee, yet he has presidential level access," a female employee asked an administrator quietly.
"I don’t know either, it’s my first ti seeing him. With presidential level access, he can view the group’s confidential information, but he looks even younger than us," the administrator expressed her amazent.
As the employees quietly discussed among themselves, the voice of an elderly man rang out.
"Isn’t that Brother Lin? What brings you to the library?"
