Now reading: Chapter 652: Have you missed me, little Delphine? from the two-faced Adopted Girl Who Melted CEO's Ice-Cold Heart, a Romance novel by Smoky and desolate.

Delphine thought about this matter and felt an inexplicable sense of unease she couldn’t quite articulate. Why would soone go through all this trouble just to do Constantine Stewart a favor and negotiate a deal?

Chloe Winston pushed a dessert toward Delphine and said, "Director Gu, have I ever told you that I grew up in an orphanage?"

Delphine’s eyes widened slightly and she shook her head.

"I’ve been at the orphanage for as long as I can rember. Growing up, my biggest fear was going hungry," the young woman said with a bright, crescent-eyed smile. "When I was twelve, Constantine Stewart adopted and promised I’d never starve again. So I nodded and went with him. As long as I had food, I wasn’t afraid of anything."

Delphine hadn’t expected Chloe to have such a rough past. No wonder her personality carried a wild streak yet also a maturity that her peers lacked—it moved Delphine deeply.

The two waited for half an hour, but Constantine Stewart still hadn’t returned. Instead, a man nad Shadow Hunter rushed into the hall with his people.

The doors of the clubhouse were forcefully pushed open from the outside. A cold and handso man stord in with Jing Liu and a group of others in tow.

When the man saw Delphine, his grim expression softened slightly. He walked over with an aristocratic and aloof air. Bending down, he pulled her up and held her tightly in his arms.

Chloe, who was eating dessert, was so taken aback by the scene that she started choking. She reached for a glass of water and drank furiously.

Delphine hadn’t expected Ignatius Leclair to show up, let alone hug her in front of everyone. Struggling slightly and noticing Chloe coughing uncontrollably, she felt an overwhelming sense of embarrassnt and whispered, "Let go."

Ignatius’s heart was pounding fiercely as he released her. His deep almond-shaped eyes scanned her from head to toe. Confirming that she was unhard, his deanor turned icy again as he looked toward the people in the clubhouse and said coldly, "Get your person in charge out here."

Ignatius was in a particularly foul mood. Now even stray cats and dogs dared to lay hands on his woman? How had the Shaw Family been managing this area? The public safety here was atrocious—he’d be filing a complaint tomorrow.

Back at ho, Major General Shaw sneezed inexplicably, feeling as though soone was cursing him again.

"Get out? Ignatius, why don’t you show how you get out?" A devilishly charismatic voice rang out. A man descended the stairs, his stunningly handso yet malevolent features tinged with familiarity and amusent. Seeing Ignatius barging into his territory so brazenly, just like their ti in Southeast Asia, he curled his lips into a cold smile.

The aristocratic and detached heir of a noble family stiffened at the sound and his face darkened completely. He could recognize this man even if he turned to ash—he hadn’t expected Griffith Squire, who had disappeared for three years, to return in such a transford and audacious manner, thriving right under his and the Shaw Family’s noses in the Imperial City!

Chloe Winston saw Constantine Stewart descending the stairs together with a man so dazzlingly handso that he seed almost otherworldly. Her mouth hung open in the shape of an O—such a devilishly enchanting man!

Constantine Stewart, his face ashen, grabbed his petite wife and moved her aside, blocking her view. He warned her with a dangerous tone, "Keep looking, and you won’t get out of bed tomorrow."

Chloe instantly retracted her gaze and resud nibbling on her dessert like a timid little hamster.

Griffith Squire ca down the stairs and surveyed the chaotic hall. His gaze lingered fleetingly on Ignatius Leclair before locking onto Delphine, whom he hadn’t seen in three years. His peach blossom eyes narrowed as he grinned roguishly, "Missed , little Delphine?"

Fourth Master? Mr. Squire?

Delphine trembled all over, staring at Griffith Squire with misty eyes that felt as though they had grains of sand in them. She couldn’t utter a single word.
