"Yes, his uncle is well-acquainted with Wang Guowei, and they have a good relationship. With his uncle speaking on your behalf, Wang Guowei indeed showed so respect."
"So that’s how it was. No wonder Wang Guowei personally called to soothe , even apologizing on behalf of his wife. It seems Qin Zhen’s uncle really holds significant sway. Who is his uncle?"
"You don’t know who his uncle is?" Chen Feng was sowhat surprised, as Qin Zhen had ntioned that their families lived close by and knew each other.
"I’m not very close to Qin Zhen, so of course, I don’t know who his uncle is."
"Actually, I don’t know his uncle either, nor do I know his na. I just know his uncle is quite capable, very well-connected, and knows a lot of people. He was a governnt official when he was young, then later went into business and founded our county’s first electronics plant."
"Oh, I see. It must be Ji Zhenguo, a pioneering entrepreneur from the last century and a prominent figure in our county, very well-known. I just didn’t expect him to be Qin Zhen’s uncle."
"That must be him then. So if you are going to express gratitude, thank Qin Zhen, and his uncle as well. I just helped make the contact," Chen Feng modestly disclaid any credit, which was more or less true.
"They certainly deserve thanks, but you deserve more. If it hadn’t been for your reaching out to Qin Zhen, I doubt he would have helped an old classmate like . After all, we haven’t seen each other for almost eleven or twelve years, and we might not even recognize each other on the streets now. I know you have a good relationship with him, and he probably agreed to help because of you."
That wasn’t entirely wrong, but Chen Feng still defended Qin Zhen, "You’re being a bit unfair to Qin Zhen. He took your matter quite seriously and even said that if his uncle couldn’t help, he would find another way. He does value you as an old classmate."
"Really? It’s been so long since I last saw him, and we barely spoke when we were in school."
"Absolutely. He even ntioned that your families live quite close, practically neighbors. Being neighbors and old classmates, of course, he wanted to help."
"Our hos aren’t that close though. There’s about two or three hundred ters between them. His house is closer to the school."
"Don’t worry about that. Qin Zhen is pretty sentintal about the past; the main credit for this should go to him. If you want to thank soone, you should thank him."
"You really are... Okay, I get it. In any case, you two are both my benefactors now. You have Qin Zhen’s number, right? Send it to on WeChat later; I’ll thank him."
"Okay. I’m about to drive, so let’s leave it at that."
"Alright then."
Chen Feng hung up the phone, found Qin Zhen’s number, and called him to discuss the matter. With his permission, he then sent his mobile number to Fang Xiaoyue via WeChat.
After putting down his phone and starting the car, Wu ngting finally spoke up, "Whose call was that? It sounded like a woman’s voice. You helped her, didn’t you?"
Chen Feng glanced at her and said, "Fang Xiaoyue, we just saw her last night."
Wu ngting frowned slightly and asked, "What is she thanking you for? Was it when you accompanied her to the hospital last ti?"
Chen Feng thought for a mont, then briefly explained the situation.
Wu ngting was dumbfounded and shocked, "The Wan family is so unreasonable? How could they bla her for Wang Kangjian being hit by a car? Weather changes and misfortune befalls people; these things are unavoidable."
"Taking out their anger on others is sothing many people do. Everyone knows it’s unreasonable, but they still think that way, always finding what they believe to be reasonable excuses. You can’t reason with such people."
"That’s true. Fang Xiaoyue is really unlucky. It’s fortunate that Qin Zhen helped; otherwise, given how powerful the Wan family is, if they retaliated against her, she really wouldn’t be able to resist."
After talking for a while, Chen Feng started the car.
Upon arriving in the county city, after eting up with Xu Shujing, her husband surprisingly didn’t co, Chen Feng certainly wouldn’t have either. Knowing them, the two won could chat endlessly; Chen Feng felt completely superfluous by their side, and as a man, it was rather uncomfortable and odd to follow around two won like an attendant.
Since neither of them was his girlfriend or a family relative.
At least that’s how Chen Feng saw it.
The two won, arm in arm, shoulder to shoulder, were very affectionate, walking and chatting, giggling and laughing.
Chen Feng could only follow behind sowhat begrudgingly.
They first strolled to Starbucks, then ordered a coffee and continued chatting at a window seat.
Chen Feng could only sit bored nearby, playing with his phone.
Had he known it would be like this, he really wouldn’t have co along.
"Last ti I was driving back from Xiu Zhou, I randomly ran into Zhao Qigao at the highway service station. What are the odds?"
"Zhao Qigao, that rich second generation."
"Yeah. Weren’t you interested in him before?"
"Don’t talk nonsense. I never did that. Don’t wrongly accuse ."
"Hehe, maybe I rembered wrong. Don’t worry, I won’t tell your husband."
"Get out of here. There was never such a thing. If anything, it was Zhao Qigao who was into you. He once sent you a big bouquet of roses, and then you distributed those roses to all the girls in the class, one for each. Haha, you played that really well; I still rember it vividly."
"Was there such a thing? I just didn’t want to embarrass him, otherwise I would have thrown it straight in the trash."
"I think throwing it in the trash might have been easier on him."
"...Haha, that might be true."
Chen Feng pretended to scroll on his phone while occasionally listening to the two won talking about their past tis, so of which were pretty amusing.
The chat lasted over an hour, and then the two won took him to eat stinky tofu, from Xu Shujing, a street stall, which was quite a surprise.
But it must be said, that street-side stinky tofu...really delicious. Just not healthy.
After eating stinky tofu, the two won linked arms and went shoulder to shoulder to the busiest comrcial street in the county to shop. They moved in and out of stores, high-spirited and cheerful.
Chen Feng, following them, felt quite miserable.
He swore to himself that if he ever brought Wu ngting shopping in the county again, he was a dog.
Coming out of a store, Chen Feng could not take it anymore and was about to suggest to Wu ngting to wait for them at the KFC up ahead.
Then a person appeared in front of them, it was the old classmate Zhao Qigao they had ntioned earlier.
"Ah! You guys...you guys, how co you’re here?" Zhao Qigao was visibly surprised, staring at them in astonishnt.
"That’s what we should be asking you, isn’t it? Why did you co to Lin Nan?" Xu Shujing asked, as she brushed her bangs aside.
Wu ngting also looked at him curiously.
Zhao Qigao then smiled and explained, "Didn’t I plan to open a milk tea shop recently? So I’m scouting locations across the city."
Wu ngting exclaid in surprise, "Didn’t you say last ti that you were going to open it in the downtown area? Why did you run over here to scout locations?"
Zhao Qigao replied with a smile, "The downtown one is already set, right there on Qian Street. I’ve signed the shop contract and the renovation starts in a couple of days. But I’m also thinking about opening another one, so I’m looking around the city."
Wu ngting then nodded sowhat understandingly.
Xu Shujing was a bit curious and asked, "You’re opening a milk tea shop? The kind that’s very trendy now, the internet-famous milk tea shops?"
"Yeah. Have you heard of Gugu Milk Tea? It’s quite popular now, expanding well."
"It sounds familiar. That type of internet-famous milk tea seems very popular with young people. If you open it, you might really get good business."
Zhao Qigao confidently replied, "There’ll definitely be business; the only question is how much profit."
Xu Shujing asked, "So, how’s your scouting over here going?"
Zhao Qigao laughed and answered, "I just arrived not long ago and then ran into you guys. I rember Shujing you’re from Lin Nan, so maybe you could show around a bit. I’ll treat you guys to a big dinner tonight as a thank you."
Xu Shujing looked at Wu ngting, asking, "ngting, shall we help our old classmate out?"
Wu ngting looked inquiringly at Chen Feng.
Chen Feng seized the chance to say, "I’ve got so stuff to do and need to go back. I won’t be able to join you. Why don’t you three old classmates hang out together?"
Wu ngting quickly said, "Then I should go with you. I didn’t drive here."
Zhao Qigao quickly remarked, "I drove here. I can give you a lift back later."
"No need, I’m staying at his place right now; it’s a bit inconvenient."
Chen Feng was sowhat speechless at this, while Zhao Qigao stood there stunned. He obviously misunderstood Wu ngting’s words, but Wu ngting showed no intentions of clarifying.
