A decision had already ford in her mind.
She knew what she wanted, and though it hurt a little to think about what she would miss, she had made her choice.
"Thank you," she said softly.
On the other end of the line, Spencer chuckled.
"It’s not a big deal. You don’t need to thank for every little thing."
Aurora rolled her eyes even though he couldn’t see her.
She was about to respond when an idea suddenly ca to her.
Without saying anything, she quickly opened her banking app and transferred one billion dollars to Spencer.
A few seconds later, Spencer’s phone chid with a notification.
When he saw the amount, his eyes widened in disbelief. He froze, staring at the screen.
"Aurora," he said, his voice caught between shock and confusion.
"What are you doing? Why are you sending a billion dollars out of nowhere?"
Aurora leaned back in her chair and said calmly,
"You should plan our vacation well. That money is for you to use."
Before Spencer could say anything else, Aurora’s own phone chid with a notification from her bank.
She glanced at it and almost squealed in delight.
The rebate system had just given her ten billion dollars in return.
Her heart was hamring in her chest loudly.
She had earned ten billion in seconds just by spending one.
A thought flashed in her mind, and it was too tempting to ignore.
’What if I send ten billion? Will I get a hundred billion in return?’
Her curiosity overpowered her hesitation.
Without thinking too long, she transferred ten billion dollars to Spencer.
But this ti, her phone stayed silent. There was no notification, no rebate.
Aurora blinked at the screen in surprise.
She checked the app again to make sure she hadn’t made a mistake.
Nothing. Her excitent faded, and confusion replaced it.
’Did the rebate system stop working?’ she wondered. ’Or maybe I reached so sort of limit?’
On the other side, Spencer was staring at his phone with an even stranger expression.
He imdiately transferred the ten billion back to her bank account.
"Aurora," he said with a sigh, "what are you doing? Why would you send ten billion dollars?"
Aurora hesitated before answering, her voice softer than usual.
"I... I was just trying sothing."
Spencer rubbed his forehead as if he had a headache.
"You really are sothing. First one billion, now ten. I’m sending back the first billion too."
Aurora sat up straighter and interrupted him quickly.
"Don’t! If you send that back, I won’t talk to you for a whole month."
Her tone was so firm that Spencer stopped what he was about to do.
He raised an eyebrow, though she couldn’t see it, and asked in a puzzled voice,
"Aurora, do you have so sort of money-spending habit? Like an addiction?"
He was truly worried for his girlfriend.
Aurora chuckled lightly. "No, it’s not like that."
But deep down, her mind was working fast.
’Why didn’t I get a rebate this ti? Is there so hidden limit? Or maybe the system delayed the transfer. Or perhaps it didn’t work because Spencer imdiately sent the money back. That might be it. The system might only count real spending, not transfers that get returned.’
Her thoughts beca deep.
’Or maybe... the rebate isn’t limitless after all. I always thought I had endless funds as long as I kept spending, but what if it’s capped at a certain amount? If it has a limit, why has it always made itself look like it’s endless? Could there be a human controlling it?’
The more she thought about it, the more unsettled she felt.
On the other side, Spencer said in a casual tone,
"All right, I won’t return the one billion. I’ll make sure to spend it properly."
Aurora smiled faintly and spoke in a gentle voice,
"Then use it wisely. Buy sothing under your na, sothing that can be a fixed asset. And... we should also think about a vacation house. Sowhere nice, where we can relax."
Spencer nodded to himself and replied,
"All right. I’ll keep that in mind." He didn’t say more.
Aurora hung up after a few more words and sat in silence for a while.
The idea of having vacation houses in different cities felt appealing.
At least then, whenever she wanted to take a break with her parents, she could do so without any trouble.
Without wasting ti, she picked up her phone and called Emily. When Emily answered, Aurora spoke in her usual calm tone.
"Emily, buy so sumr investnt vacation houses. I’ll send you the details later."
Emily was silent for a mont, caught off guard by the sudden request.
Then she replied with a simple, "All right. I’ll handle it."
Her boss loved to make strange requests. She was used to it by now.
Aurora smiled faintly. "Thank you." She hung up and leaned back in her chair again.
But her thoughts didn’t stop.
Now that she had made up her mind to skip university, she needed to prepare for it. 0
She planned to cover the courses on her own and then take the special entrance exams for top universities.
She opened her laptop and began searching.
Many universities caught her attention, but one stood out the most: Sunshine University.
It was among the best, known for its strong programs and innovative teaching thods.
As she was scrolling through the university’s information, she suddenly rembered her promise to Olivia about building her a studio.
Without delay, she called Emily again.
Emily’s voice was calm as she answered, "Do you want to add sothing?"
Aurora asked, "How is the progress on the studio going?"
There was a short pause before Emily replied in a soft tone,
"It’s almost finished. It should be done in about a week."
Aurora nodded, even though Emily couldn’t see her.
"Good. If that’s the case, I’ll wait for it to be ready."
Emily stayed silent for a mont, then spoke again, her voice slightly more hesitant than usual.
