Charlotte felt conflicted because at tis this man’s presence seed pleasantly fragrant, a scent infused with strength that was enticing, yet at other tis it felt dangerously poisonous, making her want to retreat and escape.
Suppressing the tension and aversion in her heart, Charlotte calmly responded to Atlas Hallow’s question, "If you suddenly got married to a stranger, wouldn’t you want to break away and leave? That’s a normal reaction, shouldn’t bla , right?"
"You ask if I’d want to break away when suddenly married to a stranger, how could I? You have no idea how much I enjoy this," the man’s thin lips curled into a smile. "I thought you’d feel the sa way, was my judgnt wrong? Or have I not tried hard enough to satisfy you, resulting in our estrangent?" He said with an implied aning, holding her chin.
His gaze was overly ambiguous, seemingly swirling with an intense passion that wouldn’t fade, making Charlotte instantly understand the implications of his words. Her face turned from pale to red, discussing this in the office seed quite inappropriate.
Moreover, she still couldn’t get used to being so intimate with a man, even though they were husband and wife and shared marital intimacy.
Her face showed a frustrated expression, discussing such topics was not her forte, she could only say miserably, "n and won are different, your happiness doesn’t necessarily an mine."
"Is it my fault then?" Atlas Hallow looked deeply at her, his breath brushing against the back of her ear, warm and ticklish, making her instinctively shrink her neck.
Matching wits with this man was truly exhausting, just a few exchanges left her feeling cornered.
"I was wrong. I’m going out to work first, President Hallow." She was wrong, wrong for not keeping a watchful eye on the Miller Family, letting her parents fall into such a crisis, leading her to an irreversible marriage with Atlas Hallow. It was truly all her fault.
She struggled to stand up, but her slender wrist was held by Atlas Hallow. His displeasure at this mont also seeped into his pupils, his long fingers caressing her small face, warning in a low voice, "Get rid of those damn thoughts of escaping from your mind, or you will regret it, Mrs. Hallow."
After finishing, he released his grip, allowing her to leave the office.
Charlotte rushed out in a near panic, almost twisting her ankle from walking too fast in high heels; encountering this man indeed brought misfortune.
Back in the office, Charlotte called Ethan Baird.
"Ethan, I might not be able to get away recently, do you have anything urgent?" This place was no longer like the United States where they could freely dictate their own ti. Now, under Atlas Hallow’s control, even going out alone seed like a luxury.
The signal brought a long sigh from the man; Ethan Baird slowly said, "Charlotte, you’re a bird longing for the sky, every feather of yours shines with the light of freedom, do you wish to live like this?"
He liked to call her ’little darling,’ even if the two were just confidants, he enjoyed joking around, so he had never said such sentintal words before, leaving Charlotte’s heart greatly shaken.
Every feather shining with the light of freedom? Yet now she was already trapped, locked in an invisible cage, unable to break free...
