Others reacted the sa as Jane Sampson and Coco Edwards, starting their cars and preparing to escape from the hotel’s troubled area. The majority of people headed towards the filming location to hide; that had been Coco Edwards’s initial thought, too, but Jane Sampson had a different idea.
"Let’s head to the village entrance and see what’s happening; we don’t know how it’s blocked, or how long it will be before the police can get in," Jane said.
"Okay," Coco agreed without hesitation, turning the car around and heading towards the village entrance.
However, what Jane and Coco hadn’t anticipated was that there were people guarding the direction of the village entrance.
Halfway to the village entrance, soone from a higher point suddenly threw a stone down. With a loud crash, the windshield shattered.
Unable to control the steering wheel in ti due to the imnse force, Coco’s car crashed with a loud bang into a tree next to her, jolting violently as the front airbags deployed, leaving Coco unconscious.
In the rear seat, Jane fared little better, the shock leaving her seeing stars.
But being in the rear seat, her condition was much better than Coco’s in the front.
Clambering out of the wreckage in a sorry state, Jane called out to Coco but heard no reply. On closer inspection, she realized Coco was bleeding from the forehead, unsure of the severity of the injury.
"Coco, Coco, wake up," Jane called, not daring to move Coco’s body.
After a few seconds, Coco groggily ca to, cursing, "Damn, it hurts! These villagers are as vicious as bandits!"
No sooner had she spoken than several strong young n leaped out of the roadside bushes, approaching the car.
"I knew there would be soone thinking of running to get reinforcents! These city people just know how to bully us uneducated rural folks! Thinking about locking up our moms and dads! We’ve got to show these city dwellers a lesson, or they’ll think we rural people are easy to trample on!" one of the dark-skinned n ranted. "Flip this car over! We’ll show them what’s what! See if they dare to bully people again!"
With those words, the group of young n quickly surrounded the car, uncaring that those inside were bleeding or might be badly injured, and imdiately started working together to overturn the car.
The movent of the car caused Coco, pinned by her leg, to scream out in pain.
Jane was terrified, "Don’t touch the car! Please don’t touch the car! Her leg is pinned! Whatever you want, we can agree to it, just please don’t move the car!"
But the people outside acted as if they were deaf, not one of them hearing Jane’s pleas.
They continued to apply force recklessly, and in just over a minute, they had flipped the damaged car upside down.
Coco fainted again. Jane lay there in a wretched state, not daring to move, continuing to call out to Coco.
Had she not experienced it herself, Jane would never have believed that, in this world, there were people capable of such cruelty.
Nor could she have imagined that there were corners of this world so utterly violent and evil.
In these people’s hearts, there were no kind thoughts, no law—only their own interests and whims.
