Even many onlookers comnted that Jillian Carter’s words were unpleasant. It’s a perfu; if she didn’t like it, she didn’t have to say it so nastily.
But Jillian Carter’s diehard fans are also many and vocal, each asserting that Jane Sampson’s fans liked to take things personally. Jillian Carter is just straightforward, speaking her mind, and just because Jane Sampson recomnded this perfu doesn’t an Jillian Carter isn’t allowed to dislike it, they argued, branding Jane Sampson’s fans as overbearing.
Jane Sampson learned about the incident from Lucy Brisk the next day, but she made no comnt on the matter.
Jillian Carter’s fans praised her candid way of speaking, hailing her as a frank and straightforward girl. Hearing this, Jane Sampson just laughed.
How could Jane Sampson not understand being misunderstood?
Jillian Carter was clearly targeting her, circling around just to call her rustic.
"Mr. Carter, I haven’t taken this matter to heart at all. After all, in this world, aside from money, there is nothing else, no other stuff or person, that could be loved and liked universally, let alone a perfu."
