Alia Avery swallowed her heartache and snapped resentfully, "Even if it weren’t for , Gia Miller would still be that kind of person." ’Just what kind of spell did Gia Miller cast to make Cassian so utterly devoted to her? Even after watching her livestreams twice, he still wants to be with her.’
"Alia Avery, that’s enough. Take to the hospital now." Cassian Jennings had no desire to argue with her about such pointless things. He pushed himself up, his voice low and heavy.
"The hospital? Cassian, are you hurt?"
"Never mind that. Just hurry and get to the hospital." Cassian Jennings fished the keys out of his pocket and tossed them to Alia Avery.
Alia Avery started to get anxious now too. "Oh, okay."
Alia Avery opened the car door and went to help Cassian Jennings in, but he twisted away, swatting her hand aside. "Get away!" ’God, only he knew how horrible he felt right now...’
"..." Alia Avery’s face went pale. She nodded with a bitter smile. ’Just how much does he hate , for him to react so strongly?’
Once in the car, Cassian Jennings did his best to remain calm, but all his composure shattered the mont Alia Avery got in. He turned his head away and opened the window, trying to get so air...
The drive from Vespera to the hospital would take over twenty minutes. There was no way he could last that long. His gaze had already started to blur by the ti the car started.
If it were any other woman sitting beside him, he would have pulled her over to help him by now. But it wasn’t any other woman. It was Alia Avery.
’For him, anyone else would have been fine. But not Alia Avery. He just couldn’t...’
Alia Avery hadn’t been driving for long when she sensed sothing was off with the man beside her. Her delicate brows knitted together as she glanced at Cassian Jennings. It would have been better if she hadn’t looked; the sight gave her a fright.
Even though Alia Avery had never witnessed a situation like this before, she could still guess what was happening. "Cassian, you... you’re not..."
"If you don’t want to die, just hurry up and drive to the hospital!"
Hearing this, Alia Avery’s suspicions were all but confird. ’How lucky that I was the one who answered the phone tonight,’ she thought. ’How lucky that I followed my brother here to Vespera. Otherwise, so other woman would have surely taken advantage of my Cassian by now.’
She glanced at the road ahead, made a U-turn, and drove down a small, deserted street.
Seeing this, a faint sense of unease crept over Cassian Jennings. "Alia Avery, this isn’t the way to the hospital."
"Cassian, it’s almost half an hour to the hospital from here," Alia Avery said, blinking innocently with a mischievous glint in her eyes. "You’ll never last that long in your condition."
Cassian Jennings was montarily stunned by her behavior. He sucked in a sharp breath. "Alia Avery, don’t be ridiculous!"
But the words had barely left his mouth when Alia Avery pulled the car over to the side of the road. There were no streetlights on the street, and with two large trees obscuring the view, it was highly unlikely they would be spotted.
Alia Avery climbed over from the driver’s seat to his side. She smiled softly and said, "I’m not being ridiculous. Cassian, just let help you."
"Alia Avery! Have you lost your mind?!" Cassian Jennings forcefully shoved her away and reached for the door handle to get out.
But how could Alia Avery let such a rare opportunity slip away? And in his current state, Cassian Jennings had no strength to resist her. The last shred of his reason had long since vanished...
