Cassian Jennings’s ho.
Alia Avery looked at the man lying on the bed. She slipped out from under the covers, naked, and began picking up her clothes from the floor one by one. Her face was blank as she slowly dressed.
Once she was dressed, she turned around. Cassian Jennings was awake, his eyes fixed on her.
A sarcastic smile touched her lips. "Master Jennings. Morning."
"Morning," Cassian Jennings replied softly, a flicker of sorrow in his eyes.
Alia Avery walked to the side of the bed, leaned over, and lifted Cassian Jennings’s chin with her fingers. A wicked, cold smile spread across her face. "So, was Master Jennings satisfied with my performance last night?"
"Satisfied," the man’s expression turned frigid as he bit out the word.
"And compared to all your other won, Master Jennings, who do you think has won your heart more?"
Having his chin held by her like that while being asked such a painful question, he gave a mocking smile. He pushed her hand away, sat up, and said in a deep voice, "Only you have ever won my heart."
A pang of pain shot through Alia Avery’s heart, but she just laughed sarcastically. "Master Jennings, you really live up to your reputation as Tridell’s most famous playboy." ’His skill with won is second to none.’
Cassian Jennings didn’t say anything, just watched her with a desolate look on his face.
Alia Avery stood up and left the bedroom. Standing in the living room, she looked around at the relatively cozy space and couldn’t help but feel a sense of bitter irony. ’This ho... not too long ago, this must have been where Cassian and that other woman lived.’
How ridiculous. Here she was, in the ho they once shared.
’So, what does that make us now? Friends with benefits?’
’A purely physical relationship?’
Just as she was about to leave, Cassian Jennings walked out of the bedroom.
"Wait."
Hearing his voice, Alia Avery stopped and turned to face him. "Is there sothing else, Master Jennings?"
"Take this before you go." As he spoke, Cassian Jennings had already walked over to the coffee table and taken a box of pills from a drawer.
Listening to his words and seeing the box in his hand, a sharp pain suddenly seized Alia Avery’s heart. "Pills?"
"..." Cassian Jennings didn’t answer. Instead, he turned to pour a glass of water.
Alia Avery found it utterly laughable. She strode over, snatched the box from his hand, and asked with a cold laugh, "Are you afraid I’ll get pregnant and refuse to let you go?"
"That’s not what I an. I just think we should take precautions until we’re married."
"Heh. Cassian Jennings, save that line for so other naive girl. Take precautions? I think you’re just making sure you have a clean getaway." ’What kind of normal person keeps ergency contraception on hand at ho?’
"If you don’t want to take it, then don’t."
"No need. Who said I didn’t want to? Cassian Jennings, I’m well aware that we just have a physical relationship. So, you can rest easy. I would never allow myself to get pregnant and tie you down." With that, Alia Avery shook a pill out, popped it into her mouth, and swallowed it dry.
She held out her empty hand for him to see. "I’ve taken it. And if I do end up pregnant, you can be sure it won’t be yours."
Alia Avery’s words made Cassian Jennings’s face darken to an almost frightening degree...
He started to explain, but Alia Avery had already shoved the box of pills back into his hand and said coldly, "I have things to do, Master Jennings. I’ll be leaving now."
