Jiang Nian stood leisurely at the railing of the classroom corridor, watching people file out below.
"You didn't go either!"
Yu Zhiyi sneakily stood next to him, "I said I wasn't feeling well, managed to get away with it."
"What excuse did you use?"
Hearing this, Jiang Nian slowly turned his head to glance at her.
"I was running errands in the reading room."
"Nonsense!" Yu Zhiyi was furious, clutching her wildly heaving chest, "I did all of that!"
Calming down afterward, she suddenly realized sothing.
"Didn't you resign too?"
"Yeah."
"Then how did you....."
Jiang Nian turned his head again, giving her a look as if she were a fool, "If I don't tell, who would know?"
BOOM!!
Yu Zhiyi felt like she was struck by lightning, a sense of ntal bankruptcy welled up from her heart, leaving her stunned.
"People shouldn't... The teacher says... At the very least one should....."
"Be honest."
"I'm quite honest. No one asked ," Jiang Nian said. "That leads to the question, did you volunteer the information?"
Boom! Boom!!
Yu Zhiyi covered her face and slowly squatted down, beginning to sob, blaming herself for her lack of wit.
With the crisp autumn air, Jiang Nian listened to Yu Zhiyi's suppressed crying, gazing at the distant Qingmu Ridge, feeling great.
Stupid woman, hehe.
After a while, Yu Zhiyi stood up, having figured things out. She wasn't good at playing mind gas.
After all, she was a brave and beautiful girl.
She thought it better to leave all this complicated ntal work to Jiang Nian while she just followed his lead.
"You'll help , right?"
"Hard to say."
Hearing this, she felt more assured. If Jiang Nian had promised outright, it would probably an there was a trap ahead.
Regarding reputation.
"Alright, I'm gonna go to the bathroom." Yu Zhiyi left happily, contemplating whether to add photos to her album.
The third class ended.
Jiang Nian turned his head, seeing Li Hua and others discussing math problems, marveling at the standing of science whizzes.
In contrast, it was all girls around him.
Zhang Ningzhi wasn't there, she was with Huang Beibei, taking Huang Fang to the bathroom, leaving two spots open.
"This gene inheritance question..." Dong Que was asking a biology question, another girl was asking an English question.
These two subjects were Jiang Nian's strengths. He either got perfect scores or was one of the top in class.
Li Hua had just finished explaining a math problem and was parched. Turning to see two girls surrounding Jiang Nian.
"Damn!!"
Almost instantly, he felt defenseless. Isn't this a science class? Why aren't there any girls asking him!
There actually were, but Li Hua was surrounded by guys, making it awkward for girls to go up and ask.
Class started, Li Hua was still indignant.
"Why?"
"What?"
"Why are all the girls surrounding you?" Li Hua fud, "Oh heaven, why are you so unfair to !"
"Forget about that. Let ask you sothing," Jiang Nian said, "Listen, if I gather all my strength into my fist."
"And then?"
"I punch upwards and hit your manhood, can you endure the pain and not kneel before ?"
Li Hua: "...."
"Chi Shi! What kind of dumb question is that?"
......
Morning review ti flew by, soon ca lunchti, as the bell rang.
"Hey?"
In the noisy classroom, Zhang Ningzhi grabbed him, "Beibei and I are going to buy milk tea this afternoon, want any?"
"I do." Jiang Nian nodded without hesitation, then added, "Thanks, big star, flying the banner for you."
Zhang Ningzhi punched him, "Humph, speak properly!"
"Hehe."
Jiang Nian left leisurely; he still had an appointnt to keep. If the class monitor weren't there, he would've called out 'baby' directly.
Baby muamua.
Not sure what the class monitor thought, he held back for now. But there's plenty of room, as they're good friends.
Muamua good friends.
Little Bear Milk Tea Shop was quite empty, he went in and asked, "Is there a tall girl upstairs?"
"Yes." The waiter nodded.
Jiang Nian was just about to go up but paused, asking one more question, "Did she order a drink?"
"Yes, two fruit teas and so snacks."
"Alright."
Upstairs, Xu Shuang, whom he hadn't seen in a long ti, was sitting at a table, looking down at her phone in a dim, enclosed environnt.
He froze, "Why not open the curtains?"
"Too bright, it's glaring."
Xu Shuang put her hand down, gesturing for Jiang Nian to sit, "Haven't seen you in a few days, so I called you out to sit for a bit."
"By the way..."
"Just get to the point," Jiang Nian said.
He knew their relationship was purely based on interests, and Xu Shuang wasn't good at pretending to forge a connection.
Simplicity was comfortable for both.
As for the matter of an ex, it might not even happen. For now, there are no signs pointing that way.
The system's future line ntioned Xu Family's decline briefly, with few clues.
But even a dying cal is bigger than a horse.
"Yes." Xu Shuang nodded, still preferring to speak with Jiang Nian this way, "There is indeed sothing."
"The original plan remains unchanged, we still need to go into the mountains. Fewer people, but the mountain guides are still there."
"If you have new conditions, I will try my best to et them."
She said everything in one breath, feeling much better. Being straightforward felt lighter.
Regardless of whether he agreed or refused.
"Okay." Jiang Nian agreed, pondering for a mont, "The new condition is that you have to agree to one thing for in the future."
"It's not illegal, nor will it take advantage of you. It should be a very normal thing, though I don't know what yet."
He predicted the system would still issue tasks. Based on past experiences, they wouldn't be too outrageous.
Since their rapport isn't that deep, he'd take this chance to secure a promise.
Upon hearing this, Xu Shuang thought he was offering a helping hand, after all, this condition ant everything remained unchanged.
Even if she didn't show it, her expression softened sowhat.
"Um, thank you."
Jiang Nian was bewildered, then caught on, but didn't say anything, accepting it with ease.
Xu Shuang chatted with him a bit longer, then left on her own.
Lunchti.
Jiang Nian returned to the classroom, rubbed his stomach. The snacks at the milk tea shop seed slightly unsanitary.
But since it was nothing serious, he didn't bother about it.
Before long, Chen Yunyun and the others arrived. Their hair was half-wet from washing, drying it in the corridor.
"What are you doing?"
Wang Yuhe peeked over, having forgotten any grudges against Jiang Nian, "Math test paper, weren't you looking at it yesterday?"
"Not very confident," he said, looking a bit uneasy.
Jiang Nian had fetched a chair, seated himself at the railing to write the test paper. Wang Yuhe bent over from behind him to look.
Maybe the writing was unclear, she squinted hard. Being slightly nearsighted, she leaned lower and lower.
Jiang Nian's shoulder felt sothing soft. It pressed down on him, nearly overwhelming.
Earlier, he already had a strong impression of her vertical stripes.
Now, reinforcing his mory, suddenly experiencing it firsthand left him feeling awkward.
"Ahem, stop looking." Jiang Nian said offhandedly, "You can do it, look at yours."
Wang Yuhe blinked, staring at him puzzled.
"I don't even have the sa paper as you."
Luckily she already straightened up and went off elsewhere to play. Thus saving Jiang Nian the effort of replying.
Chen Yunyun exited the classroom with fruit slices, standing beside Jiang Nian. Her hair draping over his shoulder.
A faint fragrance filled his nostrils.
"Want so fruit?"
Jiang Nian was still dumbfounded, not quite over Wang Yuhe's impact. Hearing this, he snapped back to consciousness.
"Oh, okay."
"By the way, how are you going to the branch school tomorrow?"
"I don't know, probably walk."
"Not biking?" he asked, "There are bikes, aren't there?"
