I was kind of surprised that the police officers upstairs didn't co down to see what was going on. Then again they were probably scared of with the way I shrugged off their bullets when they shot . But whatever, all that matters is that I got so weapons. Now the hard part is teaching these guys how to use them and not accidentally shoot each other.
"Listen all there is to using a gun is point and pull the trigger. In the case of zombies you guys should try your best to aim for the head." I told them and they simply nodded.
"How do we reload these?" Claire asked while holding a pistol. It seed like she got back most of her spirit after the escape from the University.
"Like this." I said and gave a visual demonstration of how to and they tried to replicate it but failed. They will learn with practice….I hope. I decided to load all of the weapons just to be sure though.
"Oh yeah each of you should take two pistols just in case and try your best to learn to reload." I told them. They followed my advice and took two pistols each from the duffle bags. I needed to decide my next course of action. I could head straight to City B or I could stay here for a while and rescue survivors while also leveling up to evolve. I decided that staying in City A for a while and rescue a few of the survivors before heading back wasn't such a bad idea. But first, I needed supplies like food if I'm gonna survive this, I can't kill undeads on an empty stomach after all.
"Where's the biggest grocery store in the city?" I asked.
"Uhm, that would be 'K&K', why do you ask?" Answered one of the girls. It seed they've gotten a bit braver now that they had guns or maybe they just trusted more.
"I'm going shopping." I said flatly and the girl just looked at wide eyed with surprise.
"Hey Colin, I heard that there is a safe haven in City B called 'Sanctuary' or sothing maybe we should head there." Claire said with a bit of hope in her voice.
"Oh, I've heard of it."
"Then why aren't we…." Claire started to say but I cut her off.
"I want to save as many people as possible before leaving. If you have a problem with that you can leave." I said and Claire bit her lips before sitting back down.
As we drove to 'K&K's there were hundreds of undeads following the vehicle probably attracted by the engine noise and the sound of gravel being crunched under the bus wheels. Ti to test out the big guns. I took up one of the M16s and a few magazines and went to the back of the bus and smashed the glass window with the butt of the guns. I pointed the gun at the approaching horde, excited by the amount of exp I was going to earn from this. And so filled with a dark glee, I opened fire on the horde. Bullets flew hitting limbs and other body parts, with a large horde like this I couldn't possibly miss but there seems to be a problem. I wasn't getting any exp no matter how many of them I killed with my gun. But I wasn't dissuaded and so I continued to open fire on them, reloading and repeating the process of culling the horde following us, and soon their were over a hundred corpses and the undeads stopped and started to feast on their fallen brethren.
Fuck. I didn't even get a single exp point. But I did learn a few things from this experience. Now I know I won't gain any exp by killing undeads from far away with regular guns. I also noticed that whenever I killed one of the thralls demon miasma leaked from their bodies and joined with the low hanging cloud on the ground. I also realized sothing I should have realized before, undeads seed to only eat their own kind and if that's the case then why do they hunt humans? If I had to guess it is to increase their numbers but their main priority seems to be getting stronger by killing, and maybe even devouring, their own kind. This information might be useful in the future.
We reached the 'K&K' grocery store without anymore problems. The store itself seed as big as a mall. It was three stories high and seed wide enough to be classified as a mall. Activating my [Aura Vision] I could sense multiple red and blue auras all over the place on every floor but that was sothing to worry about tomorrow I was exhausted.
"Grab your guns, we are heading inside." I strapped two pistols to my waist and exchanged my machete for a katana. The machete has served well but I noticed that I had to put more force behind my strikes than before to behead a thrall which ans it was getting dull. I guess that was to be expected since I was cutting through flesh and bone. I grabbed a shotgun and a few shells just in case. Using my ability, I led us to an unoccupied section of the store which was a clothing store.
"So what's the plan?" Claire asked but I simply locked the door behind us and curled up on a bundle of clothes.
"Sleep." I said and as soon as I closed my eyes, I was asleep, I guess I was more exhausted than I thought.
