Maybe, she just didn’t want anything deadly to happen, didn’t want to stir up more trouble. Mabel Quinn could only persuade herself in her heart like this.
"Do you know what the cost of saving is?" he asked softly, and after exhausting his strength, his voice sounded more like a whisper.
"What?" She was stunned.
She didn’t know, she had no idea that the cost of saving him was being bound to him for the rest of her life. Kyle Kinston could feel her presence. When he was overwheld by pain, he began losing his sanity again, just like before, screaming and howling like a beast. When she appeared in front of him again, he was completely acting on instinct, instinctively wanting to grasp at life, instinctively wanting to suppress the pain in his body.
And the mont he held her, the pain that almost swallowed her began to recede like a tide, and his sanity slowly returned.
How ridiculous, a pain that could tornt the Kinston Family people to death was so fragile in front of this lifeline.
And he, having found his lifeline, suddenly didn’t know how to control her. Should he imprison her? Or find her weakness, using it to threaten her for a lifeti? Or use money, material things, power, and status to continuously corrupt her until she ultimately loses her nature, becoming a puppet he can control?
If she knew that her so-called act of saving him ant she could never leave him for the rest of her life, would she regret it?
Kyle Kinston did not answer Mabel Quinn, and the room was once again enveloped in silence, with only the sound of their breathing audible.
Mabel Quinn was held sowhat uncomfortably, "Can you stand up? So I can help you call an ambulance."
"No need." His voice reached her ears.
"But in your current condition..."
"I said, no need." He slightly raised his body, his dark eyes eting her almond eyes.
Mabel Quinn was stunned. At this mont, Kyle Kinston’s face was calm, and the depth of his eyes was beyond asure, completely unlike the distorted agony she had seen before. There was no trace of it on his face or in his eyes, making her almost doubt if the scene she had seen before was just an illusion.
"You’re... alright?" She asked hesitantly.
"Yes, I’m alright now," he said.
Although she was puzzled by how quickly his condition had changed, she figured he would handle it himself, so Mabel Quinn said, "Then could you get up for a mont so I can leave?" Originally, with his condition flaring up, it was urgent, and she hadn’t thought much about it. But now, she clearly felt herself enveloped by his aura.
He stared at her, "You saved today; maybe one day, you’ll regret it."
Did she really save him? She was puzzled by his words, or was he referring to how holding him and patting his back actually helped him?
"What’s done is done; there’s no point in regretting it," Mabel Quinn said. Maybe if she hadn’t done these things, she might feel guilty in the future. Besides, even if she regrets it now, it doesn’t change anything, so why think too much about it.
