With Naless at the helm of the operation, Han ngli could take a step back and focus solely on weapon creation.
Naless was right. Han ngli hadn’t thought about the other slaves and how many more weapons he would need, so he got right to it.
Over the next couple of months, Naless began bringing a few more people into their operation, letting them in on the secret as well.
Han ngli worried at first about so many people being added. If nothing else, he feared that these people would start cultivating nonstop and miss their quotas or start bothering others to do their work.
But Naless had already thought of that. His strength eclipsed everyone he brought, so they were forced to listen to him and kept a facade of normalcy for now so the demon guards wouldn’t notice.
Around two years later, an older man walked in on Han ngli in the middle of working on a large sword. Han ngli paused for a mont, looking at the old man with a confused glance.
The old man, on the other hand, seed oblivious to Han ngli’s look and instead focused on the hamr and anvil, as well as the formations under the ground.
"Wow..." he said slowly. "And here I thought the spirit stones I was shown would be the biggest surprise."
Naless walked in afterward. "Look, I brought you help," he said. "He was an apprentice artifact maker in his ti. He can help you."
Han ngli’s eyes widened slightly. "An artifact maker?" he asked. The difference between a normal weapon and an artifact was night and day. He had always wanted to make the weapons he was creating into artifacts, but even with the book he had read, he couldn’t do much about it.
He understood artifacts required impressive materials and sothing called Qi lines, but he knew nothing about those things. So having soone who could likely help would be amazing.
The old man began teaching Han ngli what he had learned, mostly regarding Qi lines. Han ngli studied diligently and slowly began adding them to the weapons he created.
The success rate of the Qi lines was low, and most of the weapons amounted to nothing more, but there was enough success that he managed to make five weapons in total that were more than just tools.
Three of those were swords, one was a spear, and the last was a giant axe ant for a barbarian of a man Naless had added to the group just a few months ago.
As things progressed, the resistance grew as well. The operation beca smoother, with people helping each other to mine—so even focusing solely on it for days, allowing others to cultivate without interruption.
This also ant that Han ngli no longer had to give anyone spirit stones back in the camp. They were all cultivating during the day.
Naless and the others talked about finding a way to communicate with the other slaves, but they had no such chance. They also wanted to learn more about their slavers, but there was a considerable lack of information there as well.
"I’m getting closer and closer to a breakthrough," Naless said. "Just a few more years, and I should be ready."
Han ngli felt excited at first, but that soon changed to nervousness. "What happens when you ascend?" he asked, having never seen soone beco an Immortal. He was told things were entirely different on a world with Heaven compared to ships like Darkwater.
"I beco an Immortal, and if there isn’t sufficient Immortal Qi in this world, I am sent away by the world," Naless said.
"Sent where?" Han ngli asked.
Naless shrugged. "It’s quite likely I’ll be sent to another demon world. I’ll simply have to reject the transfer."
"Can you?" Han ngli asked.
"It’s possible," Naless said. "The only downside is I won’t be able to continue fighting after a while since this world will stop seeing as its own. My Immortal cultivation base ends up biting back at that mont."
Han ngli was about to say sothing, but Naless continued.
"But that doesn’t matter, since the mont I beco an Immortal, we will be free," he said.
"What if the demons have Immortals too?" Han ngli asked.
Naless chuckled dryly. "I’m sure they do. In that case, our only hope is that this world isn’t an Immortal world, or else we’re dood to be enslaved forever."
Han ngli gulped. After everything, he did not wish to fail.
"We’ll know soon," Naless said. "Just a few more years, and we’ll either kill our slavers or we’ll die."
A mirthless smile appeared on his face. "Either way, I’m going to be free," he said. "I’m done being a slave."
’Just a few more years,’ Han ngli told himself.
Sadly, things didn’t always go as planned. Just half a year later, in the middle of the night, he felt a slight buzz coming from the storage bag he had hidden in his arm.
With so many spiritual senses around, he hesitated to bring it out. The buzz would be from the talisman of the demon he had killed, but after the first year, he had stopped receiving any ssages.
The demons had either realized he was dead or abandoned his post. So, to receive a ssage through the talisman now made Han ngli grow quite curious.
After so thinking, he pulled out the storage bag and then the talisman from it. A few people in the room noticed the talisman, showing looks of surprise.
Before they could even ask Han ngli how he had it, he shot up from his bed, a look of pure horror on his face. He turned to one of the many beds in the room, catching the eye of Naless, who gave him a puzzled look.
"The demons," Han ngli said, not bothering to hide anything. "They’ve found the spirit stone mine and the weapons. And they’re coming here right now."
