The loss of all energy he had gathered had co as a shock to Alex as he didn't even know how it had been used up. One mont it was there, and the next, it was completely gone.
It took him a mont to realize where he had lost that energy.
'Was it the price to connect to the Heaven earlier?' he wondered. That was likely why his connection this ti hadn't worked, because he was lacking in energy.
Alex felt his Dantian and slowly felt a tiny thread of energy still continue pouring the unique Fire and Yang energy inside there, that mixed with the Qi.
So, at the very least, he hadn't lost access to the incoming stream. He was quite thankful about that.
"God, does just connecting to the Heaven require energy? What about when I actually start asking for stuff? How much more will I have to spend?" Alex wondered.
He didn't think it was fair to cost him energy just to connect to the Heaven, but the Heaven decided what was fair, so he could only shut up and do what it said.
"Hmm. Did I have enough energy to listen to the exact explanation from the Heaven? Or did hearing that explanation cost more energy?" Alex wondered.
The Heaven could do anything it wanted once he had the connection and the energy, so couldn't it be that the answer he got was also sothing he asked from the Heaven?
In that way, it wasn't just connecting to the Heaven that cost him energy, but also asking it the question.
Whether that was correct or not, Alex could find out very quickly. He waited for an hour for the energy to fill up his Dantian again until
there was just as much energy as last ti.
Alex had co to realize that the stream had slowed down a little, no longer depositing just as much energy as at the start. Nothing made sense yet, so he couldn't even tell why anything was happening, so he just went along with the flow.
When he had enough energy, Alex sent his senses up into the Heaven and connected to it once more. The hazy emptiness ford around him once again as he was ntally teleported to that sa room again.
There, Alex stayed around for a while, doing nothing. There were two things he wanted to test here this ti around.
First, he wanted to know if coming here alone cost him any energy at all.
Second, he wanted to know if staying here would also cost him any energy.
Alex quickly closed his eyes while the connection was there and began focusing his mind into his Dantian. It was a surprisingly difficult task to focus on anything else while his mind was in the Heaven, but it wasn't impossible.
Alex managed to do it in the end, and quickly checked how much of his tiny unique energy he still had left. Upon checking, he learned that he actually hadn't used all that much of his unique energy.
And every second he stayed there, he was only using another tiny amount, no more than what he was getting into his body constantly.
'So the reason why I lost all of it previously was because of the question I asked, huh?" Alex thought. 'I suppose that's the price of being a Child of Heaven!
Alex thought of leaving the space after that, but sothing else caught his eye in that mont.
"Wait, is my Qi being used up too?"
The total amount of the unique energy in his Dantian was so small that any change was noticeable imdiately. However, because his Dantian was full of Qi, the loss of it wasn't as noticeable at first.
However, now that he had noticed it, it was hard to ignore it again. His Qi was declining at a slow but steady rate, along with the unique energy. He frowned slightly, wondering why that was the case.
It was hard to focus on his Dantian as well while remaining connected to the Heaven, so it took a while for Alex to find the answer.
It turned out that along with the unique energy in his Dantian, the Qi it was mixed with was also being used up. The amount wasn't a lot for Alex to worry about even when he was running out of Qi, but it did make him wonder why that was.
Nothing of that sort happened before when the Sun God's energy was separate from his Qi. Did this an that when he asked the Heaven for sothing, he would have to use up his Qi as well?
"Is this the regular way or a side effect?" Alex wondered. Could he use this thod to use more of his Qi instead of this unique energy when asking the Heaven for sothing?
"I should at least try sothing, right?" Alex thought and quickly ca up with sothing to ask the Heaven. It was a question that had been burning within him for a long ti now, so even if he had to spend this energy, he was willing to.
"What is it that is involved in the Heavenly Beasts' vow?" he asked.
"What is the Architect's design?"
The Heaven rumbled to Alex's surprise, and the sa voice as before
spoke in a harmonious tone.
"That question is not yours to ask."
Alex frowned slightly. He checked his energy and found almost nothing missing.
Because the Heaven hadn't answered, it didn't take anything away.
'Not my question to ask?' he thought. 'Is that because I'm not the Sun
God?'
In that case, only Shumi could likely ask that question.
'But she couldn't find any answers, though, Alex thought. Shumi had
connected to the Heaven on multiple occasions, hadn't she? Why
didn't she get any answer then?
There was no way for Alex to find out anything. He thought of asking a different question, but decided it was better to save the energy than
to spend it.
With that thought, he ended his connection to the Heaven and found himself back in his room.
