Yang Chan retrieved the stone coffer from the base of the stele.
He had already examined the material of the stele. It was ordinary bluestone, with nothing particularly special about it. It was relatively hard, but that was only in comparison to normal stone; in his hands, it easily turned to powder.
When Yang Chan channeled his Power, the bluestone’s hardness beca trivial. With a slight twitch of his fingers, it would turn to dust, and with a gentle puff of air, it would scatter back into the dirt.
The stone coffer before him, however, was quite interesting. A seam ran across the entire box, as if it was being forcibly held shut.
It seed as if the massive stele had been acting as a seal. Seeing this, Yang Chan did not imdiately open it.
When faced with the unknown, his first priority was to guard against any traps laid within, such as Hidden Weapons or Poison. Obtaining the Treasure inside the coffer would be ideal, but if it ant getting injured, he wouldn’t mind passing on it—or even destroying it.
’No Treasure was more important than him.’
To avoid any potential issues with the stone coffer, Yang Chan put a good distance between himself and it before trying to open it.
From a distance of fifty ters, using the stele for cover, Yang Chan drew the sword at his waist. He infused it with the power of his Sword Montum, and as the Sharp Sword lanced out to strike the stone coffer, he took cover behind the stele to observe the result.
"BOOM!"
Reinforced by his Sword Montum, the Long Sword cleaved the stone coffer in two, splitting it right down the middle. Afterward, with a gentle tug, a Flying Claw tied to the Long Sword pulled it back into his hand.
’A Hidden Weapon like the Flying Claw is incredibly useful; it can be utilized in so many situations.’
Yang Chan gripped his Long Sword, his brow furrowing slightly. He sensed a violent wave of Spiritual Power emanating from the sundered coffer. This Spiritual Power was frenzied, as if it could erupt at any second.
"BOOM!"
Just as Yang Chan was observing from behind the stele, the stone coffer exploded.
A frenzied aura instantly surged forth as it burst apart from the center. The power of the blast was considerable. Even the stele in front of Yang Chan was knocked back more than ten ters and was now peppered with marks. Shrapnel from the exploding coffer was deeply embedded in the stone.
’That kind of power wasn’t weak. At close range, it could have definitely affected ; I would have at least suffered minor injuries.’
’If those fragnts had carried so kind of special poison, the situation would have been even more serious.’
’My choice was correct, just as I thought.’
’So-called "treasures" are very likely to harbor danger.’
A large crater remained where the stone coffer had exploded. The violent aura he’d sensed before was originating from sothing inside the pit.
It was a unique white tooth. Though it now lay quietly in the crater, the aura emanating from it was impossible to ignore.
’If this ca from the legendary "White Dragon," then its power was probably even greater than I imagined.’
It was called a Dragon’s Tooth, but it was the size of two palms, equivalent to a short sword. The aura flowing from it alone told him this was no simple thing.
Yang Chan’s gaze remained fixed on the Dragon’s Tooth; he didn’t rush to approach it. The stone coffer had shattered not only from his sword strike but also from the aura that had burst forth from the Dragon’s Tooth, which had blasted the coffer apart.
He proceeded to test it from a distance, just as before. He was well aware that so old eccentrics with strange powers hid inside weapons like this. They were usually impossible to detect, but once they sensed soone, they would start their bizarre business.
It was even possible that the Weapon carried a special Curse Power. The Tai’e Clan, for instance, had been driven to extinction by so inexplicable force.
Though that might not have been the White Dragon Curse and could have been due to other reasons, Yang Chan was a cautious person, so he naturally had to perform more tests.
Roasting the Dragon’s Tooth was just standard procedure. He also coated it with Poison to see if it would enhance any reaction. If he hadn’t been out of water, boiling it to sterilize would have also been an excellent choice, though of course, roasting was more effective.
Only after a whole series of procedures did the Dragon’s Tooth Short Sword finally land in his hand, which was still covered by the glove he had never taken off.
’If there was any problem with the Dragon’s Tooth Short Sword, this series of operations should have provoked a Reaction.’
Of course, Yang Chan couldn’t rule out the possibility that it was harmless. After all, the Incomplete Seal was what had sent him here in the first place. But that situation had been far more bizarre; the Incomplete Seal had been constantly floating, which was much stranger.
His suspicion was confird once it was in his hand. Yang Chan observed the short sword, no longer pure white; his series of tests had left so marks. They could probably be washed off with a good cleaning, but he didn’t have that much water to waste at the mont.
Besides, the dagger was still coated with Poison, so he obviously couldn’t put it in a water source unless he had soone he wanted to deal with.
’The aura is strange, but it does fit the profile of an Exotic Beast.’
’It seems the so-called White Dragon was a powerful Exotic Beast, not a True Dragon of myth and legend.’
Sensing the aura on the Dragon’s Tooth, he found that while it was powerful, it wasn’t particularly mystical. If this had been an artifact left by a True Dragon, it shouldn’t have shown any traces of his tests.
’Being Impervious to All Techniques is a characteristic of a True Dragon.’
How could a mortal slay a True Dragon? Even if a True Dragon fell to the mortal realm, it would be an invincible, Immortal existence. Its flesh would be nigh indestructible; it couldn’t just be eaten by ordinary people.
Take his current body, with its Copper Skin, Steel Rebar, and Iron Bone. The Tempering of his flesh had already reached a certain Realm. If he were to die, even his corpse would be difficult for ordinary people to handle, to say nothing of a mythical being like a True Dragon. People wouldn’t even be able to break through its Dragon Scales.
Even if you had the dragon at, you couldn’t possibly eat it, much less digest it. It would be like trying to eat a rock.
’However, this special aura on the Dragon’s Tooth must be the source of the murals and inscriptions. It contains a powerful sense of indignation—the unwillingness of this Exotic Beast to accept its death. Clearly, it was unwilling to die at the hands of a group of beings it regarded as ants.’
’The descendants of the Tai’e Clan must have borrowed this indignant will to allow the Spiritual Power on it to be maintained for so long. It’s quite a unique thod.’
Within the violent aura, Yang Chan could sense a strong indignation. It was clear that when the Exotic Beast died, all of its unwillingness had condensed onto this Dragon’s Tooth, making the power within it even more complex.
Before their deaths, the descendants of the Tai’e Clan hid the Dragon’s Tooth Short Sword in the stone coffer. For it to have survived for so long and still possess such an aura after all this ti showed that its material was far better than he had expected. It might even surpass the Sharp Weapon Level Long Sword he held.
However, Yang Chan didn’t try to test it. Here in the Taiyin Heaven, he still needed this Long Sword for protection. His Swordsmanship, Sword Intent, and Sword Montum all relied on the blade in his hand.
’After all, he had not yet reached the point where all things could serve as his sword.’
