Ryan’s POV

I snatched the phone from her, and before she could react, I walked out of the class.

"Hello, brother," I answered the call, a smirk stretching across my lips.

"Why did you take the phone from her?" Bryce’s voice ca through.

I chuckled. "Were you expecting to just stand by and watch that happen? Would you do the sa if you were in my shoes?"

"You’re not keeping your word; a man should know how to keep his promises."

"Maybe I’m not a man after all," I laughed. "I’m still a kid; you called a child the last ti we t, rember?"

"Return the phone to her; I have nothing to say to you," Bryce said. He tried to hang up, but I stopped him.

"Wait, are you okay now? Did you manage to get the bullet out? Did it hurt? I’m truly sorry I did that. I didn’t an to shoot you; you know how terrible I am with guns. I’m much more experienced with knives," I grinned, but he remained silent.

I went on, "Cooper was so mad, he visited , blocked on my way to school, and even threatened to kill . I guess this is what brotherly love ans, eh? I’m the miserable one, aren’t I? I wasn’t introduced to you on ti. I didn’t live with you. I don’t share a bond with you; that’s why you all hate . You can’t accept . I’m a total outcast."

He sighed. "What are you trying to say?"

"I’m jealous; you guys have each other’s backs even though you share a mate. I’m sincerely jealous. Why did Father do this to ? I could have been the last of the bunch."

"Go to him with your complaints. You know where to find him," he groaned.

"I know, but can’t you consider ? Put yourself in my shoes and look on with rcy. Aren’t I the most miserable one? I am. Why don’t you leave her for ? The four of you have been with her for the past two years. Let have so ti with her; the deal you claid we made is total bullshit, and it’s completely unfair."

"You knew she was going to reject from the beginning; that’s why you agreed to the deal, right?"

"Don’t complain to ."

"Who should I complain to then? Aren’t you my big brother? Or are you acting this way because we don’t share the sa mother? Co on, Parker and Gavin also have different mothers, but you treat them carefully. Why do you treat harshly?"

"I have nothing to say to you," he said, and imdiately disconnected the call.

Bastard. Fucking bastard.

I dropped the phone and leaned against the wall. Why are things not going my way? I had the perfect plan to steal Ara, and I was just starting to implent it, but I can’t do that if she rejects .

I can’t let her send away from this institution. The notorious four won’t let live in the house with them. I have to remain in this school if I want to stay by her side for a long ti.

The school is my only and best shot.

"Hey handso, what’s up?" A girl with a seductive smile ca to stand in front of .

"Why the long face? Do you need help with sothing? I’m willing to help you out." She pushed her chest out and chewed on her gum.

"What’s your na?" I asked, intrigued.

"Remi, second-year Accounting," she said, extending her hand, and I took it.

"You seem like a good girl," I smirked.

"Of course, I can be a very good girl," she winked.

She’s the kind of girl I’d hang with under normal circumstances. Her type is wild and fierce; they’re always on fire, and I enjoy putting out those fires. I enjoy being around them.

But my current situation is different because of my mate and my plans. I have a goal to achieve, and I don’t want any distractions right now. Maybe after I succeed, I’ll co back to her. To eat her, of course.

"You haven’t introduced yourself; what’s your na?" she inquired.

I smiled. "Is my na important? Don’t you want sothing else from ?"

She pouted. "I don’t know; what do you think?"

I smirked, "We’re thinking of the sa thing, aren’t we?"

"Oh, are we? I’m not so sure ab—" Her words were cut off before she could finish.

"Ryan, give the phone." Ara suddenly marched toward us and snatched the phone from .

"Don’t ever do that again; don’t ever take my phone away, or I will lose it and attack you. I’m tired of your attitude and will no longer tolerate it," she half-yelled, clearly pissed off.

She was about to walk away when Remi stopped her. "Oh, do you two know each other?" she asked.

Ara frowned but didn’t respond; she started to walk away again, and Remi ran after her, stopping her.

"I’m sorry, I don’t an to do this. I need your help," she said.

"What is it?" Ara stepped back and questioned.

"Him," she pointed at .

"I like him; can I have him?"

Ara scoffed and then frowned. "I don’t know him; you can do whatever you want with him. It’s none of my business," she growled and started to move away again.

"Oh, is that right?" Remi stopped her from leaving.

Ara sighed. "What do you want?"

"You know his na. Ryan. You called him Ryan. Your relationship seems deeper than that. Is he a friend, or is he your ex? I want to know your relationship with him," she smiled.

Ara rolled her eyes, clearly angry. "Will you get out of my way?" she growled.

"Oh," Remi stepped aside, "my apologies, forgive , I didn’t an to offend you," she said.

Ara didn’t reply and left for her class. The lecturer went in after her, and the hallway quickly emptied.

"Won’t you go to class?" I asked, staring at Remi.

"No, I don’t want to; I don’t like her lectures."

"Then why are you taking her classes?" I huffed.

She moved closer and stood in front of . "It’s one of my compulsory subjects; I don’t have a choice."

I chuckled. "If you don’t attend your classes, you’ll fail."

"Fail? Do you think I care about that? I just need to stay in school for four years and graduate, and I’ll have a job. My father has connections, and even without him, I’ve made so good friends. They’ll help ; I don’t have to worry about getting a job."

I shook my head. "You’re one of a kind."

"Your kind," she retorted.

"You’re right. My kind."

Her cheeks turned red. "So, Ryan... Why are you not in class?"

"Sa reason as you, I guess."

Her eyes widened. "Sa reason?"

"Yeah."

"You also have connections?"

"Yes, sothing like that."

"Hmm, I wonder who your connections are." She twirled a strand of her hair.

My connections are with so powerful people.

"Like the senator? President?" she listed.

"Yeah, all of the above."

She laughed and playfully slapped my chest. "I was only joking; you don’t have to take it that far."

"You don’t believe ?"

"Yeah, I have a bit of trust issues; I’ve been betrayed, so I don’t easily trust people’s words or actions."

"Why were you trying so hard to befriend her?" I changed the topic.

"Her? You an Ara?" she quickly caught on.

"Yes."

"She’s mated to the notorious four. She’s their mate; aren’t you aware of that?"

"I’m not. Who are they?"

"What? You don’t know the notorious four?" She covered her mouth with her palm as she stared at .

"I’m new in town. I’ve heard about them, but I don’t know the details. Can you tell who they are?"

"The notorious four are every girl’s dream. They’re powerful, wealthy, tall, smart, intelligent, and business-oriented; they have perfect genes and good looks. They have it all." She closed her eyes as she listed their attributes.

"Really?"

"Yes. Ask anyone around, and they’ll tell you. Everyone wants to be with them, guys included," she whispered the last part.

I chuckled.

"I’m serious, everyone wants them. Do you know why I’m attending this school? I ca so I could get closer to one of them."

I raised a brow. "Really?"

"Yes, you’ll hardly find a student who didn’t co here for them. This is a prestigious institute, but the handso brothers made it that way."

"Have you t them?"

"No, unfortunately, I haven’t spoken to any of them. I’ve seen them from a close range, but I wasn’t lucky enough to speak to them," she said, making a sad face.

I smiled. "I can take you to them if you’d like," I offered.

"You would? You?" She gasped.

"Are you in or not?"

"Are you serious right now?"

"I am. Are you in or not? Make your choice."

"I... I’m in," she smiled.

"Good."

"You better not be joking."

"No, I’m not. I’ll take you to Cooper. We’ll start with him. He owes sothing, and I want to collect it." I reached for her hand and held it.

"Let’s go," I said.

"Now?"

"Yes, now."

"Moon goddess, are you serious?" She grew nervous as I led her to my car and drove her to Cooper’s company.
