We arrived at Cooper’s company lot, and the security team sohow got wind of it; they stopped us close to the entrance.
"Please, sir, this is working hours; you have to leave," the head of the security team said to .
"I have important business; can’t you tell?" I signaled to Remi.
His eyes briefly moved to her, but he stood his ground. "I won’t grant you access," he stated.
"Will you be okay after doing this?"
"I am only doing my job, sir. Mr. Sebastian ordered us to keep you away from these premises," the team leader said.
Remi drew closer and held my arm. "What is he talking about? Have you been here before?" she whispered, but I didn’t respond. I moved away from her and approached the team leader.
"This is my last warning; move out of my way. Do not embarrass in front of the guest," I warned, but they stood their ground.
"Alright, I have no choice but to do this, then." I took a step back, a second, and then a third. There were seven of them, and they looked healthy. Should I waste my ti fighting them, or should I outsmart them?
Outsmarting them would be faster, but Remi might not be able to keep up. Fighting them is the only solution here.
"Hold this." I took my cross bag off and gave it to Remi; she took it with a confused expression.
"Let’s do this the hard way, then." I groaned and brought out my knives. Without giving them a chance to think, I lunged at them.
I took seven of them down in under seven minutes. After this, I brought out my hanky and cleaned the blood off my knives. Then I drew closer to the team leader. "I should kill you, shouldn’t I?" I growled, but he didn’t respond; he was in too much pain.
"Don’t worry, I won’t kill you; I’ll fight you fairly next ti. I don’t have much ti today; I have to return to school and see her before she leaves. I didn’t stab any of your important organs; you’ll survive." I touched his head and fixed the knives into my boots before shifting my attention to Remi.
What is she doing? I walked over to her.
"Why are you hiding behind the car?" I questioned.
"Will you also kill ?" she shivered.
"Why would I kill you? I brought you here; have you forgotten?"
"Oh... But the knives..."
"I won’t kill you; let’s go to Cooper," I said, but she remained there. "Do not waste my ti; I’ll go alone if you don’t stand up," I threatened. My threats worked on her. She ca out of hiding and returned my bag to .
"Good girl." We went into the building and took the elevator to the top floor. Once the elevator opened, Cooper’s secretary rushed to us. She attempted to stop , but I shot her a glare.
"Don’t even try it," I warned. She paused.
I proceeded into Cooper’s office and found him in a eting with a few of his workers; a groan left his lips once he saw .
"Let’s take a break," he said to his workers, and they listened. They stood up and left the floor, leaving just , Cooper, Remi, and the secretary.
"Why are you here?" Cooper angrily glared at .
"I ca to return the favor; I don’t owe people," I grinned.
"What are you trying to—" he started to speak, but I didn’t allow him to finish. I reached into my boots, retrieved one of my knives, and stabbed his hand. His hand was resting on the table, so it was very easy to stab him.
A painful groan left his lips, and before he could adjust to the pain, I pulled the knife out. Blood instantly began to ooze out of the stab wound; when he saw this, he reached into his drawer and retrieved a white towel. He wrapped his hand up and stood on his feet.
"You’re going to regret this," he hissed as he tied the towel tightly around his hand.
"You shouldn’t have punched . Did you think I was going to let it go?" I growled.
Cooper didn’t respond or look at until his hand was properly bandaged with the towel. After ensuring this, he settled his gaze on .
As he stared at , he started loosening his tie and rolling up his sleeves; he even took his shoelaces off. "One of us won’t leave here alive, I can assure you of that," he grumbled as he took his shoes off.
"What do you intend to do? Kill ?" I scowled.
"We’ll find out; you ca to the wrong person."
"You started this first; don’t try to play the victim," I huffed.
He began to advance closer to , and I moved to the door. "I ca here with a guest," I said, my eyes not leaving him.
"She’s a student, and she wishes to see you." I continued, but Cooper didn’t bat an eye and kept coming closer. When I saw that he wasn’t going to give up, I opened the door and went to the lounge.
Remi rushed to . "Is he there? Can I see him?" she asked, eyes glittering, but the smile on her face quickly turned to fear when Cooper erged from his office.
Cooper didn’t take action imdiately; he walked past and moved to the elevator.
"Get out," he ordered, his eyes fixed on his secretary.
"Yes, sir." His secretary understood him and rushed into the elevator. But Remi didn’t.
Cooper growled, "What are you waiting for?" he asked the terrified Remi, and Remi ran into the elevator. The elevator closed and started to move. Cooper didn’t speak up imdiately. He waited for about two minutes before settling his gaze on .
He appeared hesitant, like he didn’t want to do it, but one look at his bloody hand erased all traces of hesitation, and he imdiately charged at . He grabbed by the neck, pinned to the wall, and threw to the other end of the lounge.
I hit my head on the wall and rolled to the ground; he didn’t give a chance to breathe. He pinned to the ground and began to punch . I gritted my teeth and took his punches because I knew fighting him could be a complete waste of my own strength.
I’ll let him beat , but I won’t forgive him; I’ll make him pay for this.
I’ll make him regret doing this. As I said earlier, I don’t owe people; I repay my debts to them, whether good or bad. I don’t let things go. I’m hard-headed. I’ll surely repay him.
Cooper can beat into a coma now; he is allowed to. And he did; he beat until his knuckles began to bleed.
After he released , I forced myself into a sitting position. I couldn’t see my face, but I was sure that it was swollen. My lips were bleeding, and my head hurt.
I’m weak; his punches are very strong. I’m struggling to hold myself together, but it’s difficult; my eyes are trying to close, and I’m struggling to remain awake, but I can’t.
My eyes forcefully closed on their own, and I passed out. I don’t know how long I was unconscious, but when I regained my senses, I was completely out of it.
Zero strength. Couldn’t even lift my fingers.
"Are you awake?" An unfamiliar face appeared to . I think she’s a nurse.
I blinked.
"Do you rember your na? You’re in a hospital; you got here in an ambulance." The nurse’s lips moved as she spoke to , but I didn’t utter a word and continued to look at her.
"You have a visitor; she’s been waiting to see you. I’ll let her see you while I speak to the doctor." She approached the door and left the room. The door reopened, and a familiar face ca in.
A smile twisted my face as I watched her approach.
She stood at the foot of my bed and settled her gaze on . "You’re here," I murmured.
She frowned. "What happened to you? And why was my number saved as your ergency contact? Don’t you have a family to call?"
I continued smiling but didn’t utter a word.
"The doctor said that you were assaulted. Who assaulted you?"
"Do you want to know?" I muttered.
"I’m not curious; I’ve paid your hospital bills, and since you’re conscious, there’s no reason to stay here." She turned and walked to the door. When she got there, she paused and faced .
"Who assaulted you?" she asked again.
"Co closer and I’ll tell you," I said, beckoning her on.
She huffed and ca closer to . "I don’t want to associate myself with you, but I can’t help myself when I’m curious," she grumbled as she drew closer.
"Co closer," I whispered, and she brought her ear closer.
"A little more," I urged.
She hissed, "You’re enjoying this, aren’t you?"
"Do you want to hear my answer?"
"Speak, I’m listening."
"Co closer; I can’t speak loudly."
She moved a little closer, and when she was close enough, I kissed her on the cheek.
She flinched and moved away, appearing annoyed.
"Why did you—" she began, but I didn’t allow her to finish.
I said, "Cooper," and I ntioned his na.
When she heard his na, she paused.
"Cooper?" She grimaced.
"Yes, and Bryce, Gavin, and Parker," I listed their nas.
Her eyes went wide.
"T-they did this to you?"
"No, just Cooper, but the others were present. They instigated and watched it happen."
"You’re lying," she huffed.
"You know it’s the truth," I argued. "They couldn’t kill because I’m your mate, so Cooper did this to instead. This is their way of teaching a lesson," I sighed.
She fell silent. I watched her. I saw her frown turn into sothing else, sothing I couldn’t recognize. She nodded twice, tightened her grip around her bag, and without another word, walked away.
A triumphant smile appeared on my face. That’s right, I’ll win her over by playing the victim. Girls are more emotional; I’ll win her heart by using her emotions.
