Angry was very cautious. Back in Central Earth, he had planned to kidnap Shen Youling, but the mont he realized sothing was amiss, he imdiately fled. He thought that by changing his na and hiding in this inconspicuous corner, the storm would eventually blow over. Unexpectedly, a powerful enemy had already found his precise location.

"How did you know I was here… I see now. Jian Hansheng leaked my location, didn't he?" Angry gave a bitter smile.

He had never actually told Jian Hansheng about this hiding spot. Though they were friends of different generations, he didn't really trust him. It was likely Jian Hansheng didn't trust him either and had secretly investigated, keeping this information as a trump card. Filled with regret, Angry refused to sit and wait for death. He silently launched a hypnotic attack, hoping it would have so effect.

Unfortunately, it was utterly useless. The so-called hypnosis rely made Lin Tang yawn.

Then he glanced at the ti. "Okay, one minute is up. Is that all you have for your last words? Then die!"

He raised his hand, ready to blast the old man into smithereens.

THUMP!

Angry dropped to his knees at once, pleading for rcy. "I still have great value! I can help you control anyone you wish—influence their thoughts, control their emotions, and make them obey your every command! I hope you'll spare my life for this. I beg you!"

"Control anyone? Are you serious, or just talking big?" Lin Tang asked, a little curious.

"I can prove it with facts!" Angry hastily promised.

Afterward, they went to the belfry in the church attic. As Angry forcefully rang the bell, the sound spread throughout the town. All the residents—so already asleep, so making a late-night snack, so engaged in marital activities, so still toiling away overti—appeared perfectly ordinary.

But as soon as they heard the bell, they all froze. Stopping everything they were doing, they moved outside as one. Soon, they had gathered around the church, their gazes vacant, as if sleepwalking. They assud a prayerful posture, the silent scene exuding a deep and profound eeriness.

The little boy was speechless. He rubbed his eyes, then ran frantically into the crowd.

"Hey, Uncle Tom, say sothing!"

"Auntie Jenny, you're not wearing any clothes!"

"Grandpa Jack, weren't you in a vegetative state? How are you awake?"

However, no matter who he spoke to, no one responded. The sight sent a deep chill through the little boy's heart.

The place I've lived my whole life… was everything fake?! Then what am I? He fell into self-doubt.

Angry stepped forward and tenderly ruffled the boy's hair. "Child, don't overthink it. They are my faithful servants, hypnotized and brainwashed. But you're not one of them. I found you by chance when you were an infant. I took pity on you and brought you here for them to raise. You're a real, living person, and you're innocent in all this."

"Then my parents?"

"Yes, they're not your real parents. They've only ever told you well-intentioned lies."

"But I'm still so sad…" The little boy closed his eyes as clear tears trickled down his cheeks. He leaned gently against Angry, sniffling.

"I believe I said I was in a hurry. Why are you two still performing this lodrama? Since your bond is so deep, you can just die together!" Lin Tang snapped, his patience wearing thin.

The little boy's expression froze. He couldn't believe this man was so devoid of compassion.

I'm just an innocent child! You're going to kill too?

Angry was also surprised. He looked at Lin Tang and asked, "I've proven my value. Why do you still want to kill ?"

"Because…" Lin Tang suddenly drew his sword. With a twist of his blade, a web of cracks appeared all over Angry's body, as if he were shattering porcelain.

Lin Tang sheathed his sword and continued, "…you don't have any treasures that can advance my cultivation. As for this rabble, I have no use for them."

Perhaps the sword was too sharp and fast, because Angry wasn't dead yet. He looked down at his body, a look of resignation on his face. He knew he only had a few seconds left. His gaze swept over the world one last ti with reluctance, and he sighed. "I've done many bad things in my life. The only good thing I ever did was adopting this child. He truly is innocent. I beg you to spare him…"

As soon as he finished speaking, his body collapsed to the ground and shattered into pieces.

"Father!" the little boy shrieked, rushing over, overwheld with grief and sobbing his heart out. He glared resentfully at Lin Tang. "You're the bad guy, the real villain! If you have the guts, then kill ! Otherwise, I'll find you and get my revenge when I grow up!"

"Oh?" Lin Tang was surprised, not expecting such spirit from the little one. Seek revenge on ? Heh…

"Interesting. In that case, I'll wait for you to grow up," Lin Tang chuckled softly and turned to leave.

He didn't spare another glance for the people who were still praying. The mont Angry died, they had begun to collapse one after another. Though their hearts were still beating and they were still breathing, they were completely brain-dead. The entire town was now devoid of life, save for a single boy kneeling alone amidst the corpses strewn about.

He glared with hatred at Lin Tang's retreating figure. "Hey! How can you just leave here all alone? At least help find a kind person to adopt !" he shouted.

Lin Tang heard him but paid no mind, continuing on his way until he disappeared completely.

The little boy's shoulders slumped. He returned ho, dispirited, and threw himself onto his bed, pulling the covers over his head. He seed to be trying to force himself to sleep, hoping he would wake up to find everything back to normal, pretending that today had been nothing but a bad dream.

He slept for a long while before suddenly sitting bolt upright and ripping the blanket away. He pricked up his ears, listening intently as his eyes darted around the room.

"Phew…" He let out a long breath and muttered to himself, "I finally survived…"

"That's not necessarily true!" a mocking voice suddenly rang out.

The next mont, Lin Tang's head erged from beneath the floorboards. The little boy stared in shock for a second before screaming in terror, "Monster! Devil!"

Lin Tang slowly pulled the rest of his body out of the floor and folded his arms. "Go on. Keep acting."

The little boy looked dumbfounded. "I don't know what you're talking about."

"You're the real Angry," Lin Tang said with conviction. "The old man from before was rely your number one servant. You brainwashed him into believing he was Angry so that when you encountered an enemy you couldn't handle, you could use him as a scapegoat. As for you, a child, it's easy to go unnoticed."

The little boy maintained a look of utter confusion, as if he didn't understand a word.

Lin Tang drew his sword again.

"Wait!" The little boy finally dropped the act, his face turning hideous. "How did you see through my plan?" His voice was now mature, all traces of its earlier childishness gone.

Now, it was Lin Tang's turn to be astonished. "I just took a shot in the dark. I didn't think I'd actually trick you into revealing yourself."

The little boy was speechless. Damn it!

He wanted to curse Lin Tang and his entire family tree back eighteen generations, but he knew there was no escape. Without hesitation, he unleashed his final, ultimate move.

"Brainstorm!"

BOOM!

Bizarre brainwaves erupted from his eyes, slamming into Lin Tang's mind. At the sa ti, he stuck out his tongue and flipped it over, revealing what was nested underneath—an eyeball!

Yes, it was a real eyeball, complete with blinking upper and lower eyelids.

POP!

With a sickening squelch, he bit down and crushed the eyeball. He twitched from the excruciating pain but didn't dare delay, mumbling as quickly as he could, "O, great Eye of Truth, I seek your gaze! I beg for your attention! I offer my soul in exchange for your protection!"

"Hm?" The mont Lin Tang heard the words "Eye of Truth," his eyelid twitched. He imdiately used his Divine Sense to shatter the incoming brainwaves. While retreating, he remotely directed his flying sword to attack from a distance.

However, the Eye of Truth, Alto, arrived with incredible speed. Perhaps It had been watching all along but was bound by so constraint that prevented It from appearing on Its own. It had to wait for Angry to perform the ritual, after which It appeared with great impatience.

"Long Tianji of Central Earth, I'll be taking your body now, and I won't be polite about it!" A grand and majestic divine voice echoed between heaven and earth.

The sky tore open to reveal a vast, single eye. Within its pupil, a human face erged. But the face's features—its nose, its mouth—were also eyes. Within each of those eyes was another face, and so on in an infinite cycle, forming a fractal of more eyes than there were patterns in a kaleidoscope. Big and small, they were packed together densely.

Being watched by all these eyes at once, Lin Tang felt an instant sense of impending doom. He knew he was completely locked on, with nowhere to run and nowhere to hide.

Danger! Danger! Danger!

Angry is a follower of the Eye of Truth? Was this entire thing a trap set up just for ?

The thought flashed through Lin Tang's mind, his expression turning extrely grave as he watched the giant eye rapidly shrink and press toward his forehead. He knew that once it made contact, he wouldn't be growing a third eye like so god of legend. Instead, his body would be possessed.

With the strength of his Divine Sense at the Golden Core Peak, he probably stood no chance against this entity… What do I do?!
