Landon Sinclair froze for a mont at her words, not understanding why Chloe would ask such a question.

Then, as if sothing occurred to him, his face turned grim. He turned to Ethan Sinclair and said, "Ethan, sothing urgent just ca up. I’ll have to ask you to get the porridge."

With that, he hurried away.

Chloe Sinclair watched Landon’s hasty departure, knowing he already had soone in mind.

After finishing the porridge her older brother had bought her, she rested for a while and planned to be discharged from the hospital that afternoon.

There was nothing seriously wrong with her body; she was just exhausted. Her muscles ached all over now, but she wouldn’t say she was uncomfortable.

When she returned to the villa, Landon Sinclair wasn’t back yet.

Mrs. Logan wasn’t ho at the mont, either.

Mr. Sinclair frowned. "Where’s Mrs. Logan?" he asked.

The butler shook his head. "I’ve rarely seen her lately. She must be caught up with sothing."

Suddenly, the butler’s gaze shifted to the entrance. "Mr. Sinclair, Mrs. Logan is back."

Mr. Sinclair turned his head and saw a panting Mrs. Logan at the foyer, changing her shoes. In her cloth bag were a few limp stalks of lettuce.

Mr. Sinclair’s frown deepened.

"Where have you been?"

Mrs. Logan hadn’t expected Mr. Sinclair to be back so early. She was so startled that she froze in the doorway.

"I... I went to buy groceries," she stamred.

After speaking, she rembered what she had bought and guiltily tried to hide her reusable bag behind her.

But Mr. Sinclair had already seen what was in her hands.

"These are the groceries you bought?"

Mr. Sinclair looked shocked.

After all, he gave Mrs. Logan a household allowance of fifty thousand yuan a month. The at was flown in fresh by helicopter daily. A month’s worth of groceries would certainly not cost fifty thousand yuan, but in all these years, Mr. Sinclair had never asked her to account for the remainder.

For one, he didn’t consider it a large sum of money. For another, he figured that since Mrs. Logan had been with the Sinclair family for twenty years, it was no big deal if she kept the leftover cash.

Mr. Sinclair’s expression darkened, and his tone grew stern. "These are the groceries you bought?"

"No, sir." Mrs. Logan hurriedly shook her head. "There weren’t any fresh vegetables at the market today, I..."

Mrs. Logan wasn’t highly educated, and she was a poor liar, unable to think of a plausible excuse.

Her face turned pale, and her legs began to tremble.

Mr. Sinclair’s expression remained unchanged. He asked again, "The butler tells you’ve been away from the house a lot recently. Why is that?"

At his words, Mrs. Logan’s expression changed. She glanced at Mr. Sinclair and said, "Mr. Sinclair, I was just looking after Miss Nina."

"Miss Nina must not be used to living alone, so I just wanted to go and help her out."

Mrs. Logan seed oblivious to Mr. Sinclair’s darkening expression and continued to ramble, "Sir, why don’t you bring Miss Nina back ho? It’s only been a short while, and she’s already lost so much weight. And she’s been desperate to ask for your forgiveness..."

"Enough!"

Mr. Sinclair couldn’t stand to hear another word and cut her off sharply.

Mrs. Logan froze, completely stunned by his outburst.

"Mrs. Logan, *I* am your employer. If you want to be Nina Sinclair’s personal maid, I can fire you right now. Then you won’t have to keep running back and forth to take care of her."

Mr. Sinclair fixed his hawk-like gaze on Mrs. Logan. "All these years, I’ve never asked you how much was left over from the monthly grocery budget. By tomorrow, I want a complete accounting. Then, transfer all of the remaining money to Chloe’s account."

P.S. To the readers who aren’t on the main site—I see all of your comnts, and you guys are adorable! But please don’t twist my head off and use it as a chamber pot just because of the slow updates (so scared, boo hoo).
