Although Yang Ze had been practising for a long ti, he did not feel the slightest bit of fatigue. On the contrary, because of his incredibly vast ntal energy, he was even more energetic than before.
Yang Ze spent the entire day sitting nervously inside his room. Although he occasionally went outside to walk around the Sword Sect, he did not dare to stay out for too long.
"Damn it... just how long is this night going to last?" The closer it got to the next day, the more he felt that ti had slowed down. For him, every passing second now felt like an eternity.
On the other hand, in the room right next door, the figure of Xiao Ruolan stood before the bed. At the mont, she was looking down at the two sleeping figures who were entwined with each other.
"What a pity..." She could not help but click her tongue while shaking her head. Who could have imagined that the fate of these two sisters was about to change forever?
She cast a quiet glance outside the window at the starry sky. Then, her gaze fell upon the naked figure of Cang Yue, especially upon Cang Yue’s chest, where the three sword marks were beginning to release a hazy glow.
"Is it ti already?" Xiao Ruolan could not help but frown. She did not expect that the ti for Cang Yue to return to the ruins would be in the middle of the night.
"Should I stop it for now?" For Xiao Ruolan, pausing the power of the sword marks on Cang Yue’s chest was not a difficult task. In fact, if she wished, she could easily shatter them into nothingness. However, she had no intention of doing so.
"Let’s see how this plays out." Muttering to herself, she waved her hand, and with that movent, the figure of Cang Yue slowly floated up into the air.
Xiao Ruolan looked at Cang Yue’s enchanting figure before flicking her fingers as a robe flew from the corner of the room, instantly covering Cang Yue’s alluring body.
"Let’s go." Without wasting another second, Xiao Ruolan took a step forward as her figure disappeared from the place, leaving behind the sleeping Lin Yue, who was still lost in her dreams.
Even though the ’Ruins’ were located far away from the Sword Sect, it didn’t take too long for Xiao Ruolan to reach there.
Looking at the ground underneath her, she didn’t even need to activate any chanism. She rely took a step forward as her figure disappeared before appearing directly inside the ruins.
Looking at the giant sword in front of her, whose latter half was plunged into the ground, she couldn’t help but click her tongue in wonder. No matter how many tis she saw this scene, she was always fascinated by it.
After admiring the scene in front of her for a while, she walked directly in front of the giant sword before snapping her fingers.
And the instant she did that, Cang Yue’s eyes trembled. She, who was unconscious for weeks, finally opened her eyes to look around in confusion.
"Where?" Cang Yue didn’t even have ti to finish her sentence when she saw the world around her.
The familiar giant sword... the familiar yet unfamiliar figure of Xiao Ruolan, who still had that emotionless face.
"Where the hell am I?" Cang Yue’s mind was still in a ss, and her first reaction was to try to use her internal energy to make so distance between herself and the sword and Xiao Ruolan, but the mont she tried to use her internal energy, she was horrified to discover that she couldnt move it. There was sothing firmly sealing it in place.
It was only then that the events of the past days slowly resurfaced in her mind, from coming back after completing their mission to her going to Xiao Ruolan to teach her a lesson before being captured by the opponent party, and then ultimately being humiliated and tortured by her own sister.
With every passing mont, Cang Yue’s face turned pale as she began to rember the past events.
"You... what are you trying to do?" Even though Cang Yue knew the answer, she still asked; this ti, her voice was filled with panic. Her usual arrogant and haughty expression was gone, replaced by a look of helplessness and panic. Who would have imagined that the saintess of the Duality Sect, who killed and skinned people without a word, would show emotions like these?
Xiao Ruolan rely shook her head before raising her hand and pushing her palm forward, as if gently pushing Cang Yue back.
"NO." Cang Yue couldn’t help but shout in a sharp voice. She knew that once she went inside, it was impossible for her to co back in one piece. Even though she didn’t know what was going to happen inside the ruins, she had no intention of finding out.
As for trying to fight against it... Not to ntion her internal energy was sealed, even if it wasn’t, going against a plan that spanned across centuries or perhaps even millennia wasn’t sothing that she was worthy of.
"Wait." She desperately pleaded once again, hoping that perhaps Xiao Ruolan might change her mind.
"We are still bound by the heavenly oath. Do you really want to break it?" This was the only thing Cang Yue could think of. Regardless of how powerful a cultivator was, they could never go against the heavenly oath.
Xiao Ruolan’s actions paused upon listening to Cang Yue’s words, but she then soon shook her head.
"I am not harming you; I am rely sending you inside the sword trial so that you can get the inheritance." Xiao Ruolan wasn’t completely lying. Inside the ruins, there were definitely nurous inheritances, but whether Cang Yue would get them was still debatable.
"You bitch." Cang Yue finally dropped all pretences and shouted, gritting her teeth. "I should have killed you when I first caught you in the Duality Sect."
"Emmm." Xiao Ruolan rely widened her eyes before shaking her head in response. "I doubt that."
"Do you have anything else to say?" She paused for a mont before asking further. "Sothing like a last wish... I can help you complete it."
"Yeah, kill yourself." At the mont, Cang Yue’s only wish was to tear the woman in front of her into pieces, drink her blood and scatter her bones across the entire Azure Dragon Continent.
"Well, then, please be on your way." With a slight nod, Xiao Ruolan slightly pushed her, making her fall directly into a small vortex that appeared on the giant sword out of nowhere.
"YOU WHOR..."
"...."
"...."
Cang Yue’s scream was cut short as she disappeared into the vortex, completely disappearing from the Ruins.
Xiao Ruolan stood there in silence for a while, quietly looking at the sword in front of her with an inexplicable expression. She raised her hand, wanting to touch the sword, but before her hand could even get close, the sword began to tremble as if it would fly away the next mont.
"Still can’t take it away, huh." Xiao Ruolan clicked her tongue in annoyance as she shook her head with an expression of pity before turning around and walking away, leaving behind the ruins, which were filled with eerie silence.
—---------------------
On the other hand, the mont Cang Yue fell inside the vortex, she felt the seal on her body weakening, and in less than three breaths, it shattered completely, letting her fully use her internal energy.
"Finally." The mont Cang Yue felt her control over the internal energy, she imdiately began to circulate it. She then looked around with a wary expression. She could still rember everything Xiao Ruolan told her. This was definitely not an inheritance or a legacy.
Looking around, she was standing in an empty grassland that spanned as far as her eyes could see. And just when she was wondering what was going to happen next, she felt a hand on her shoulder.
"...." In the next instant, Cang Yue’s eyes narrowed into slits as she hurriedly slashed behind her with her hands covered in internal energy, wanting to chop off whoever touched her.
But instead of the warm blood and the tearing of flesh, the only thing she felt was a softness... Her strike that she made using all her internal energy was akin to punching a soft ball of cotton.
"That’s a weird way of greeting." The next mont, a soft sound echoed in Cang Yue’s ears as she hurriedly jumped forward before turning around to face the person behind her.
"....."
"....."
"I take it that you are not happy to see again." The middle-aged woman standing there with a smile whispered softly as she said those words.
Cang Yue, on the other hand, didn’t give a reply. She just kept her mouth shut, staring intently at the woman who had appeared out of nowhere. It was the sa woman whom she t the first ti she ca here with Yang Ze to get a soul gem. In a sense, it was this woman who helped her wake up Yang Ze and even saved his life.
At that ti, Cang Yue was even grateful to her. At that ti, she thought that this woman wanted to impart a legacy to her. But now... after listening to Xiao Ruolan and connecting pieces together, she had a rough idea about what the woman wanted to do.
Now the only thing she felt from her was a sense of dread and fear.
"What happened?" The woman couldn’t help but slightly tilt her head in confusion. "You seem different."
Her voice carried a hint of worry as she took a step forward, reaching out towards Cang Yue as a loving family elder. But the mont she stepped forward, Cang Yue took a step back.
Although Cang Yue attacked her only once, it made her aware of the chasm between the two of them. Cang Yue knew that even if she were to use her physique, she was of no match against this woman.
’Is there no way out?’ This was the only thought that ca to her mind as she kept on retreating.
"...." This ti, the woman finally stopped with her hand mid-air, which she slowly lowered as her gaze towards Cang Yue turned complicated.
"From the looks of it, you seem aware of what is going on."
Speaking till here, the woman simply waved her hand, and with that, the scene around them changed.
Before Cang Yue could even react, she found herself sitting on a small bamboo stool with a cup of steaming hot tea in front of her on the table and on her opposite was the figure of the woman sitting in silence, quietly gazing at her.
"Illusion?" This was the first thought that ca to her mind as Cang Yue observed her surroundings. She had seen Yang Ze use illusions before, but compared to what she was seeing right now, his illusions were akin to children’s play.
"How about we have a talk first?" Gently waving her hand, the woman slid the cup of tea towards Cang Yue as the latter picked it with so hesitation before taking a sip.
Cang Yue wanted to know what the other party wanted to accomplish. Although she had so idea, she wanted to know the complete truth. As for the matter of being poisoned by the tea... soone who could easily resolve her attack and even use such miraculous thods could squash her to death anyti they wished to.
"Sure." Taking a deep breath, Cang Yue nodded in response as she took another sip of the ordinary tea that felt more like warm water than anything else.
"Do you know why you are here?" The woman directly asked her the most important question.
"Didn’t you ask to co here?" With a forced chuckle, Cang Yue parted her robes from the middle, revealing her fair skin and the deep cave that led into darkness. And just there, in the middle of her chest, were three sword tattoos simring in a hazy glow.
"You can say that." The woman simply nodded in response as she spoke in an incomparable serious voice.
"The reason I called you here is because I need your help to save this continent."
