"You’re talking nonsense, I..." She instinctively cursed at him while in his arms, stopping halfway, "You... what did you say?"
What did he an by "loved her for six years"?
Looking at the eyes still filled with tears and confusion in his embrace, Kris Cooper felt a pang of heartache, gently wiping her little face with his palm, holding her as he stood up.
"Six years ago, we already knew each other. The photo you saw..." He rummaged through his pocket, pulling out a wallet that had long been drenched, bringing it to her, "It really is your photo, but it wasn’t taken from your album. I kept it six years ago, and I’ve always kept it in my wallet these years."
Vera looked at the wallet in his hand, then raised her eyes to look at his face. His eyes were clear and bright, not at all like those of a liar.
"You... you really know ?"
"No!" The man gently threw his head back, "It’s not just knowing you; we were in a relationship back then."
He raised his hand, pulling out a necklace from under his shirt, on which hung the ring she had left behind.
"These two rings were originally ant for our wedding, but... you left, so they were never used."
Vera blinked, looking at the key chain swaying gently in the air.
"How... how can you prove it?"
Though she wanted to believe him, at this mont, she truly dared not, dare not believe lightly.
"Many things from that ti... I threw them away, including our photos together. This is the only remaining one." Kris Cooper frowned, pondering, then suddenly his eyes lit up, "Right... Andre and Kenton, they both know. They were studying in Arica too. Actually, your grandmother t once; when she visited you in Arica, we even had a al together, but... she can’t rember now."
Vera clutched his arm, "Do you know which university I attended?"
"Of course." Kris Cooper imdiately nad her school, "You were in the architecture departnt, but you also took business managent as a minor, so you were often running between two campuses."
Later, she checked things about her ti in Arica, and what he said matched her situation. Seeing she still didn’t believe, Kris Cooper pulled her toward the direction of the room.
"Let’s call Kenton and Andre right now. You can ask them; they can vouch for ."
Pulling her back inside, Kris Cooper imdiately grabbed the phone and dialed Kenton Maverick’s number; after a mont, the call connected.
Kris Cooper didn’t speak, just turned on the speaker and handed the phone to Vera.
"You ask!"
Vera took the phone, bringing it to her ear.
"Hello?" On the other end, Kenton Maverick’s voice sounded puzzled, "Kris?"
"K-Kenton, it’s . I’m Vera."
"Vera, what’s up?"
"I... I want to ask sothing. Did I... know Kris Cooper before?"
"This..." Kenton Maverick hesitated. Previously, Kris Cooper had asked him not to reveal the truth, so why was she suddenly asking today, "Vera, why are you asking this?"
"Idiot, just tell the truth!"
Kris Cooper shouted in frustration. If this guy kept the secret, he’d be in trouble!
Hearing Kris Cooper’s voice, Kenton Maverick then continued.
"That’s right, you knew each other."
